It's been at least 2 since I made a petition to Blizzard, telling them I quit the game and gave them a short list of what would bring me back. I only asked for 3 things, although I did bash their idea of increasing level caps at each expansion.

1. A Collector's Inventory for old gear, shared among characters of the same server and faction. One that would also show on "inspect" so you could brag about having a Legendary Bow as a mage. Even those lvl 1 Robes should go in here. I used to collect all the robes in the game, I had at least 50. Put an old item in this inventory and you won't be able to use it but...
2. You could transform your own item to look like that item, if it was of your class. The others won't see any difference, only you will.
However, and here's what really bytes...

3. All of this Collector's loot would only be available on Heroic difficulty, a simple scale up of damage and mob health. Same loot, same stats, but now you can put them in the Collector's bag. This way, if you wanted that old Scarlet Monastery gear, you'd have to beat up monsters scaled to your level, so no way to solo that, or cheat by boosting a friend.

While I'm touched that 2 years later some Blizz idiot finally came up with a dumbed version of MY idea, the fact that you can solo all of the old dungeons in a single day, 5 times each, won't add much to the gameplay. Also, by having to pay 120 gold, they will only increase the number of gold sellers and farming bots. Now, I'm not sure how much you know about this topic, but I have a friend who has had about 30 or so accounts used for farming with an automated bot. The kind that can fly around looking for mines and herbs, land, defend against mobs, pick up the loot, mount up and repeat. He earned about 3000 euros per month, selling to chinese intermediaries. It's easier than you can imagine, as you can post hundreds of items at AH with a single click, automatic price, then one click at mail to get the cash. Right now, after some ban raids, he still has 7 bots, spread out on 7 servers. He literally crashes the AH at whim with mining and herbalism. I'm sure he'll be extremely glad to hear about this patch. The gold price will increase for sure.

Damn this almost makes me want to back to play WoW. Almost.
If it only weren't for that my comp won't run WoW anymore, I don't want to pay, and it did enough damage to my life.
And if you got bored of wow before being able to run around in older gear isn't going to add more than a day of fun.

Versions of this idea have been around for a long, long, time. Its all rumors and speculation but it will bring back some people and it will be an effective gold sink on an economy awash with gold. One shot vanity items just dont balance that.

Oh, come on, Blizzard, nut up a little. At least let us go around in armour we've used in the past, not just what we have in our bags. I mean, for furk sake, there's tons of stuff from outland I can't get again that I want to run around in. If DC and Guild Wars 2 can do this, so can you! Guess I'll be spending a lot of gold in the Auction House...

And just as I quit my warrior with full T6 and warglaives, my favorite set ever. This is pretty much a reason to come back... but I don't think I will. Damn, would have been awesome rocking that set again with modern stats.
Aren't the glaives one-handers?

Well, you could at least tank with the MH one.

Blizzard is really dropping the ball on this. Being able to customize one's look without sacrificing stats, has been done before, and I believe just about perfectly.

I'm referring to Lord of the Rings: Online's cosmetic system.

It not only does things that WoW's new system will do, but it also has more freedom in what one can do to ones clothes, like the dying system. If I got a purple cape in LotRO, since I don't like purple, I could dye it whatever color I want.

I played LotRO before I tried WoW, and both have things that the other is lacking. But after I started playing WoW because I got a little bored of LotRO(Not that it wasn't a fun game, I was just in a rut), I got really disappointed with the equipment system, if I wanted to look good, I had to sacrifice stats. If I liked everything about the look of a piece of armor, accept the color, I just had to live with the color because there was no way changing it.

Here is my example of how good and matched a player can look in LotRO:

I not only could I dye the cloth and leather clothes, I could dye the metal on things like helmets. That Elvish helmet my hobbit guardian is wearing, wasn't originally blue, it was a silver color. But, I like the color blue so I dyed everything I was wearing blue. Granted that not everything can be dyed properly, but most can and enough that I look like I'm wearing a nicely matched set, rather than the actual mismatch of Dwarven and Elvish armor.

Another point is that the LotRO system is free. The cosmetic system unlocks when a player reaches level 20, but once it is unlocked on one character, it is unlock for all new made characters.

If Blizzard wants to find something to make more use of in-game gold, they should change how dyes in the game work, instead of just being a crafting item, make it so the dye can be used to change the color of equipment.

This is a great feature. LOTRO has it and it's one of the reasons I really liked that game
Yeah and it is free. Take the picture of my hobbit guardian I posted above:

The helmet is an incredibly cheap low level Elvish helmet that only gave like 15 or so armor. But it looked worlds better than the crappy human helmet that my hobbit was wearing for the stats. Plus, it let me dye the Elvish helmet blue.

I'm really thinking about going back to LotRO after this month of WoW is up. I'll miss the fast leveling of my character and of professions, but with how good LotRO looks, it is the one game I would chose over how great it looks graphically, especially in freedom of customization of my character's look.

It sounds kind of cool, and I liked the version in LOTRO (Which is basically this system without paying).
Honestly I kind of wish more MMO's would do this because some armors may have better stats, but look horrible.
Actually, it isn't exactly like LotRO's version. If WoW's would be like that, I would be able to dye all the brown and grey armor my paladin is wearing a proper mixture of green and black, to match the color's of my guild's tabard.

The problem is that dyes in WoW are just materials for making clothes and don't actually serve proper purpose like being able to dye anything I want.

Unlike LotRO, in WoW I can buy every color of dye from a tailoring vendor, and pretty cheap too. If I want black dye in LotRO, I have to be Mr. Moneybags.

Blizzard should pick up on the dying thing, it would make WoW so much more pleasing to the eye.
