In sociology, one of the big ways to determine how interconnected we are (and a gauge for changes in the number of friends we have) is to ask a pretty simple question:

If you had a humiliating picture (usually of you naked, or whatever you wouldn't want society at large to see), and had to give it to someone, how many people would you be willing to give a copy? Exclude family members.

The current average for Americans is a little more than two people. I'm curious what the kind of breakdown for the people here is? So, there's a picture of you doing something that if it got out would ruin your life. How many people are you confident you could give it to them in an envelope, and be sure no one else would ever see it?

Edit: It's not meant to just be "a naked picture". If you're truly unashamed of your body, the question is what you would do with a picture you're ashamed of. For the people who don't care if people see them naked, imagine a picture of you doing something so depraved I can't in good conscience describe it here, and have to give people the picture. How many people would you trust with something that could destroy you?

None. I don't trust anyone with anything, not even my phone number. If I had an embarassing photo, I would slice it, then burn it.

I said three. Merely because I am unashamed of my body and could care less what the rest of the world thought of me. Besides, those are my closest friends who have already seen me anyway.

Sorry, I'm probably not supposed to respond in my own thread, but then think of something you would be ashamed of. A picture of you eating a baby, or doing something truly sexually depraved. The question is less "are you embarrassed by x, y, or z" and more "if you take something you'd be embarrassed by, who would you trust with it?"

Now I don't trust anyone, at all. But if I had a "humiliating picture" of myself, I think I may try to sell it (I'm just soo sexy).

But I would never EVER trust any of my friends with it. Ever.

Do me, myself, and I count? No? Damn.

Well, if I had to give it to someone, and giving it successfully to more people got me bonus points, I'd say I could safely give it to... five people off the top of my head. Maybe.

I have completely naked photos of me on facebook, on and open profile (admittedly not full frontal though).

So nakedness isn't an issue.

I know only one person I could trust with a picture of me say, Raping a baby or something. Rest of my friends would probably sell it on the net ;P

My buddy Roadie. He's the only one I trust.

...especially considering that fucker was probably there when the picture was taken...

Going with zero. If I ever happen to land in a position of importance by some blind stroke of luck, I'd rather give the world as little ammo as possible, even if it's only close friends that hold it.

Zero... No one will be getting humiliating pictures of me thanks, most of my friends are dicks anyway.

I never trust anyone with anything. You must always assume they will break this trust, as most of the time they do.

I don't think the mean is all that useful in this case. More interesting to state the mode (which is zero in this poll).

I would say none. I've seen the bad movie plot, the crappy "scoops" in the magazines and the 4Chan pictures. I ain't risking anything.

Hell, I don't even own a camera for this very reason.

I would say absolutely zero. Most of my friends are jerks who would show everyone just to get some more attention or whatever. The other friends would be the less close crowd who I would be trying to keep the picture away from.
