I don't think the mean is all that useful in this case. More interesting to state the mode (which is zero in this poll).

That's a good point. Though, unless there's a skewing by one or two exceptionally high or low numbers (so, if someone trusted six billion people), the mean and the mode are pretty close. Statistically speaking, using the mode is a risk for being under-representative, since it cuts out the influence of those who differ from it. But, now I'm being a statistics nerd, so I'll go sit in the corner.

Congratulations to people for being honest and choosing zero. As far as a naked picture goes, there would be several I'd be okay with that, maybe upwards of 10. But things beyond that, truly embarrassing to me, would be zero. Not a soul. Not a spouse. Not a licensed professional. So I chose zero expecting to be in the minority.

I see this as a positive, to have done things I am truly *that* embarrassed about.

Why would I have to entrust the photo to somebody? Can't I just destroy it? I mean really, none of my friends would care.

I upload goofy/embarrassing pictures of myself to my myspace profile. My friends know what a screwball I am and accept me for it. So, basically my answer is "anyone I truly call a friend." Though the whole photo giving premise is rather silly.

um, none, burn it(after shredding, before disolving in acid, burning the acid, and hunting the photographer), because it serves no purpose, but is still a risk, trust does not enter into it, the test is flawed.

I wouldnt trust anyone because i know no matter what eventually it will leak out so, i would burn the picture so it will never be seen again by human eye

First, nobody would see the picture if I had anything to do with it. Second, the picture, and the negative would be incinerated, and the ashes spread over three states. Third, I obviously wouldn't have taken the picture myself, so whoever did would have to suffer the same fate as the picture and negatives.

It's not that there aren't a couple people who I do trust, but why risk it?

But then, my face is not in the picture so there is the element of anonymity.

On topic, most of this really comes down to what the person giving the picture is and who he/she's giving it to.

I actually don't have any embarrassing photos of me ANYMORE. I destroyed them all. the most embarrassing was one time during a bath I made a bathing suit out of shaving cream, otherwise I was completely naked... lets just say I had to hunt down some people and I've burned all copies, although I kind of regret it now because it was kinda sexy....

Just curious, what's the incentive to trust even one person here? If something is truly damning I would need a pretty good reason to let anyone in on it. Maybe you should come up with some kind of reward that gets bigger as you confide in more people or penalty for trusting few to none? We're speaking hypothetically here, so it wouldn't necessarily need to be realistic.

You definitely have to exlude family! I mean, how many times have your parents gladly gotten out your baby pictures of you naked in the tub or running around with nothing and shown it to your amused boyfriend/girlfriend?

If you had a humiliating picture (usually of you naked, or whatever you wouldn't want society at large to see), and had to give it to someone, how many people would you be willing to give a copy? Exclude family members.

I'd rather give an embarrassing photo of me to my friends than to my family, cause my friends might make a joke about it, and than leave it. But my family will totally screw me over with it...
So, I'd say I would give it to 7 or more friends, and they do have those pictures of me, and I do of them.
As for my family members, I wouldn't trust a single one of them with those pictures.

Well I wouldn't want any of my friends to see pictures of me in the first place, but if they had to/they weren't actually going to look at it I'd only just 3 of them.
