But to play Dracula he'd need to pit his acting chops against Gary Oldman, Christopher Lee and Leslie Nielson... is that really wise?
It'd be funny though.

I really hope I don't hear the the hardcore Twilight fans talking about this, I really don't want to go to jail again.

Wow, that's a new low when it comes to hyping up a movie...

But let's assume good 'ol Vlad was actually a vampire, and whatshisface is a real descendant. Shouldn't we drive a stake through his heart to make sure he's not the real deal? Just sayin...

Robert Pattinson. Vlad Tepes. ROBERT PATTINSON. VLAD FREAKING TEPES.
If I was an empath (from the Hitchhiker's Guide series), then all this localised irony would cause an overload and possibly kill me.

On a serious note, I didn't know that he actually publicly announced that he disliked the Twilight Saga.

If i told you that Michael Bay's Lineage can be traced back to Vector Sigma would it make you go see his next Transformers movie? Or would you call me on my cheap marketing plug?

Ah the diffrence between bitter sarcastic gamers and screaming tween girls.

And they don't even remotely live up to Max Schreck:

So imagine how terribad poor Pattinson is.
Even if that movie is black and white and completely silent (or maybe because of that), that role is TERRIFING even many DECADES after it's release.

It has to be some REALLY bad movies when your STAR says he hates it.

Considering that Vlad the Impaler lived in the 15th century, that gives roughly 550 years of time for Vlad's descendants to be "fruitful and multiply". Let's say he has two kids. In twenty years, those two kids have two kids. Let's start the clock at 1460. In generation 1, Vlad has two descendants. By 1480 he has four. By 1500 he has eight. Robert Pattinson was born in 1986. So that's roughly twenty-six generations between Vlad and Pattinson. So if this very rough model is correct, there are about 67,108,864 descendants of Vlad living today. I'm not impressed.

But then again, my model also states that Charlemagne today has 4.61168602 × 10^18 living descendants. That's well... at lot more people living today on Earth.

Huh... weird. Kinda makes ya wonder if Pattinson's gonna try his hand at playing a real vampire after the movies are over...

He's the other great great great great great granddaughter.

In all seriousness, I find this very hard to believe.

Who knows, might be true. Noblemen like Vlad Tepes often spread their DNA around Europe like a powerhose powered by a turbine.
But it's not very convincing when even ancestry.com seems uncertain of their own purported research. Not to mention this sounds like paper-thin veiled advertising for the new Twilight monstrosity at best, so I'm taking this with piles of salt the equivalent of Olympus Mons.

As soon as I read the title of this thread, I was only thinking to myself "Not pattinson, not pattinson", and as soon as I saw the picture I could only think "ah, Dammit."
And yea, ironic, because it's a bad vampire, related to a good one.

That aint no vampire!
I wonder how many generations it took to replace the "psychotic killer vampire" gene with the "emo sparkle-pussy" gene?

Yeah, from what I can gather from Google, he said that it he thought it was basically Meyers' personal sexual fantasy.

OT: Personally, I just hope all this sparkly crap ends soon and we can start getting real vampire movies/books again.

As for Pattinson being related to Vlad, I think it's just some elaborate publicity stunt. I've heard of some weird familial connections before. But really?
