Okay, riddle me this people, those who are in favour of age verification - which I count myself among but for different reasons - what system do you implement?
I would require a credit card to make a Twitch account for age verification, and charge people $1 for an over 18 account.

You can make a free account still, but it wouldn't allow you to see "mature" channels period. Not even if you searched for them.

While it wouldn't stop all minors from getting around it, it would be harder to fake than just lying about your age.

No I wouldn't because she is offering entertainment on top of titillation. Which I don't have any issue with.

God forbid these people have to showcase the smallest, tiniest bit of effort and pretense.
Why should they? Is there some magic criteria for what ought to make people money?

These streamers are not doing anything for entertainment, they offer NOTHING except to sit there and watch people give them money.
That's entertainment to some people obviously. It counts as entertainment as the people paying for it are entertained enough to pay for it. People are entertained by looking at attractive young people.
It's not your definition of entertaining, it's pretty dumb and seemingly has no artistic or intellectual merit but, so what?

I’m not convinced that would be sufficient since the age part is at account sign up and kids can just you know, lie, and then use a debit card - which I think a lot of kids probably have especially if they’re working - which will function like a credit card for the purpose of this $1 security charge back.[/QUOTE]

Are you blatantly missing or ignoring my points? Wrestling is entertainment, the point isn't the bikini's, it's the wrestling. The bikini's are just frosting on the cake of the entertainment.

These streamers are not doing anything for entertainment, they offer NOTHING except to sit there and watch people give them money.
You're really over estimating how much effort went into WWE back then. They literally had "lingerie pillow fights" "swimsuit contests" and "The WWE thongathon". In those instances the titlation was the point. If you just through in titlation in the middle, separate to everything going on, like just cutting from game streaming to softcore pornography are you saying you would have less issue with that than, again, women sitting in a hottub?

Do you not see the difference? Their is context to the nudity there, and in any game really. Therefore it is more than JUST sexualization.
No there isn't. Ivy's costume is entirely about sexualisation. Any "context" is usually made up after the fact to justify the sexualisation.

Fuck am I even speaking English here? What the hell is so hard to understand.
No you're being very clear, trust me.

...dunno if you know this, but DOAX3 is even lighter on the "gameplay" than the first two entries.
Like, pretty sure picking out real life outfits and being in the kinda shape that a significant amount of people find attractive beats video game menuing in the effort department.

But because the 3D model isn't computer generated it's a problem?

"I certify I'm over 18 years old" checkbox and captcha. You'd be surprised how many people get deterred just by asking with some vague legalese.

Anything else gives too much information to Amazon.

There is still opportunity to be entertaining with that though. The streamer can react and interact with the chat based on a shared activity and play it up by being in a bikini herself.

That is fine. Of she could stream herself playing volleyball on the beach herself as well. So long as the stream isnt her just sitting there and waiting for money, its fine by me.

There is am entire fighting game around her. Again you miss the point and fail in your ability to comprehend. Go back and reread the op and any other of my replies and try again.

The problem is when they ONLY thing these girls are doing is fucking sitting there and expecting money for fucking nothing, without even the decency to try and be entertaining. Because it harms the platform as a whole and makes it harder for the girls who dont want to do that shit.
I mean, they're still putting on a stream. They still have to host a stream. They still have to plan and tailor their content around the demands of an extremely competitive market. They still have to promote themselves. Furthermore, because what they're doing borders on sex work, there's also a lot of bullshit that comes with managing that that people have to be prepared for.

And i dont think just sitting there barely talking to chat or ignoring them completely while you just chill with your friends, is content.
I mean, we're getting into what I think is a more general problem with online content here, which is the relentless focus on parasociality, and if there is a risk with this kind of content that's where it comes from. Watching people you think you like chatting or hanging out can meet needs that aren't being met elsewhere in a person's life. People put on streams or youtube videos in the background just for the feeling of having someone in the room. It's not something that's exclusive to streamers who stream in hot tubs, and the very real dangers of forming those kinds of one sided parasocial relationships aren't exclusive to streamers who stream in hot tubs.

The reason being is that...again, there is no age limitation on Twitch, you can have kids fostering perv behavior because they are in some bikini girls stream while chat jerks itself off and showers bits.
There actually are age limitations on twitch. The twitch terms of service states that you have to be 13 or older, and if you're below the age of majority in your place of residence you have to be supervised by a parent or guardian. Twitch also has a setting for adult content, which users must specifically opt into seeing.

Twitch is not a particularly safe place for children. You can find people streaming R-rated games, people who use foul language or crude humour while streaming, people with unpleasant or bigoted social views using the platform to promote those views. In terms of the kinds of behaviour kids could foster on twitch, seeing women in bikinis seems a relatively small problem, and will also require that child to lie about their age.

That's the entertainment model of Big Brother, which had high viewing figures and spawned multiple international franchises (plus celebrity versions). Seems a lot of people are into just watching other people hang out.

Which is also why producers on shows like that actively fucked with people to create drama. It was more than just hanging out. Reality TV has been very little reality since the dawn of the genre. Because the producers know that if they just left people to their own devices the show would be boring, thus they create issues, spread drama and rumors or whatever.

So .... the hot tub thing will just die out because it's boring is what you're saying? I guess we can all just relax and wait for that to happen then. Shouldn't take long, given that it's not entertaining.

Yeah likely, but you then have to wonder where things will go from there. Like all Meta's things eventually shift.

What will happen I think, is that there will be too many hot tub streams and it will dilute itself and thus one streamer will find the next thing that becomes a good money grab, and the cycle will continue.

I still think Twitch needs to set some limitations or at least regulations behind what is required of streamers. Though there is a free market argument to put forth in that regard. In the end it's going to wash itself out eventually, but that doesn't make it a good thing while it lasts.

If i could get paid for streaming games from a hot tub, i'd be sitting in one right now. Good for them.

Also, from the "Won't someone think of the children" angle: I guess Twitch could put up a rule, that if you stream in bikini, you also have to stream games that are rated 18+. There, problem(?) solved.

Any of you guys that haven't used a hot tub, by the way, should use a hot tub. I absolutely love using hot tubs (but I am aware of the energy issues and I use one when I'm on holiday once or twice a year. It's probably offset by the fact that the holiday is in the UK.) Biggest downside to hot tubs (apart from energy use) is that they steam your glasses up.

It's just, like, so nice being constantly warm. Also, I like chlorine.

Because on Twitch you don't have to search for it. It can just pop up in your recommended. And you can issue parential controls on your browser that will block most porn.

That isn't even the problem. I don't have a problem with the hot tub girls as a concept. I've said that. I have a problem with the tits being the ONLY point of the stream, while the stream does nothing.

Why the fuck doesn't anyone understand that? Every keeps bringing up other situations that would be perfectly fine and I've said as much. And nobody understands the one fucking thing that bothers me about it all.

If you don't understand my point by now, I can't help you. I don't know what else to say, it's moot now.

It is because there is a lack of logic to your point, there is no way in which you actually differentiate why it matters how much real content there is. It looks like a weird excuse because you have issues with women and not a real complaint becuase you cannot state why it matters how little real content there is. You are saying it is different without saying why the difference matters
