I'm sure there's a market for it. Might not be as big a market, but it's there
If the pools were open right now I would grab a water proof phone and chat it up just for shits and giggles. Never got a chance to enjoy the high roller jacuzzi life of sipping a drink and talk to other girls online with covid right now keeping us from socializing proper

Well, that's the lot of women, isn't it?

A load of men pay women to take their kit off and call them frigid if they don't, and those women that take the money have another load of men calling them sluts and raging at them. Plus of course the men that both pay them to take their kit off AND rage at them as sluts for doing so, because the bottom line is that you cannot win.
Because women totally don't also call other women sluts or prudes? And it seems kind of bizare for both of you to generalize all men as hypocritacly sexist towards women while you post on a forum made up predominantly of men of whom none of the regular members engage in such practices and condemn them when they see them.

Maybe don't paint all people as being the same because of a single common feature they share?

Some PG-13 streams aren't important. You can choose not to click on them. If you're afraid of some child being corrupted by some bikinis, then try reading what people post in chat.

If the lack of effort bothers you, some people are naturally funny and entertaining, and some have big tits. Really what is the difference? You either have it or you don't. Streaming is barely a job to begin with. They're not writing jokes, and they're not editing anything. They're playing video games for 8 hours and occasionally reacting to a youtube video.

"A load of men" =/= all men. Obviously.

This may be anecdotal, but the worst, most hurtful things I've ever heard said about a woman have been from other women speaking behind her back.
Calling a woman a slut, a ****, a pussy? That's little league shit compared to some of the very creative and down right vile insults women have for each other.

There has been an update to this story. And quite a few things have happened. Amouranth, Twitch's number 1 girl, has had her channel demonetized. Meaning that ads no longer play on her channel. Which even she admitted is fair enough, because Amouranth knows what she is and what she is doing.

Her problem, though, does highlight an aspect of Twitch being a piece of shit company. Twitch never told her, never gave her notice, she had ZERO indication that her channel no longer had ad support until they were just gone. Amouranth on Twitter explained that she had to reach out directly to Twitch staff to find out that she had in fact been flagged for demonetization.

Shortly afterwards Twitch issued a large statement in the regards to their ToS and how they would handle the Hot Tub meta going forward. https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/21/22447898/twitch-hot-tub-category-launches-amouranth-advertising

TL;DR Twitch made Hot Tubs a catagory and that's it.

Needless to say there have been several streamers that have come out against this policy as they believe it still violates the policy of the ToS. But because the ToS is so badly worded, and Twitch is very very inconsistent with enforcement, it has been leading people to a frustration level that really shouldn't be the case.

Bottom line is this though. Thots make too much money for Twitch to stop them.

What should have happened is Twitch should have enforced their rules and regulations from Day 1, back when these girls would "technically" be streaming a game but in reality they are sitting there in low cut tops and just chatting with people or commenting over Youtube videos. If Twitch had taken a stand from the beginning, then there would not be this problem now.

But because Twitch let it fester, an audience exploded as a a result. The catagory has gotten too big for them to stop and there is nothing they can do about it now. one wonders why there even needs to be a ToS at this point since if breaking a rule gets popular enough, they'll just erase the rule.

I feel like this will explode at some point. Eventually some girl somewhere on twitch is going to go too far and a class action lawsuit will get filed against Twitch for allowing it to occur on their platform. Either someone will sue because Twitch girls are selling pornography directly through Twitch, or the wrong set of people will catch Amouranth the next time she flashes her pussy to her thousands of viewers again....yes again because she's done it before.

Models on Instagram are being attractive on the internet. Twitch girls are exploiting an audience.

But how dare I suggest that women could do wrong.

Lonely men are apparently an easily exploited resource.

Thots on Twitch, Japanese companies producing girlfriend fantasies. It's pretty funny, actually.

It's sad that so many people are in such a state. Being lonely is fucking awful.

But I've said before, I'm not really against girls being Thots. I just want some limiters in place to make it age appropriate. Which I think is more than fair.

Having looked over Twitch's own TOS, I personally believe that hot tub streamers are exploiting a loophole.

Though, by reinstating this streamer's ads, they are obviously happy for this kind of stuff to keep on happening - at least for the time being.

And with that said... why would anyone really care?

If you don't like this content, don't watch it.

If you are a parent who is worried about their kid watching this stuff, that is on them to make sure that they dont/cant.

At the end of the day, these women are consensually putting on these shows, and there is obviously an audience of people who are happy to watch. Sounds like a happy symbiosis to me.

@laggyteabag & @CriticalGaming, you both have a point. Though I do favor laggy's opinion in this case. I get it, similar to YouTube, the people at top on Twitch are a bunch of hypocritical assholes who sit at the last minute until some bad happens to do something or or too late to do anything about their mess and choose to ignore it or make things worse. I appreciate what you're fighting for, but there's really not much that can be done at this point. Other than don't watch their content. Like I said before back on the first page, I don't even like twitch. I only watch it for a few people and that's it. Even then, they post most of their content on YouTube anyway. Giving me even less incentive to go to twitch unless it's something really important or I care about.

It is surely like talking to a wall at this point of course. The business makes money and so long as the money flows, hot tubs there shall be.

I still think there is a least some worth in talking about it and having some sort of stance on it. I while I understand your approach of "can't do anything but ignore it if you don't want it", I don't like it because there is no discussion that can be had.

We aren't going to influence Twitch with forum threads, just like we aren't going to destroy microtransactions in other threads. But having a conversation is at least better than nothing, and you never know when someone can put forth something you haven't thought of that help you view the other side. While we are unlikely to change each other's minds, we can at least grasp understanding of where everyone is coming from and it promotes interaction.

If by others you mean tangible humans "near" them that are willing to reciprocate in a relation, then yes.

My suggestion is that people should try to reach out and form connections with actual people around them ( doesn't necessarily have to be in person, could also be through messaging systems ), rather than falling into the trap of getting lulled by the comfort of waifu fantasies or the fantasy that the person behind that Twitch stream sees them for anything more than a dollar sign.

I'm sure that it's naive on my part, those kinds of people probably have some sort of deeper reason for clinging to that sort of "entertainment" making it not as easy as it might sound.

Life's better if you have people to help you shoulder reality.

Well I'll throw my hat into the ring here on this thread.

Firstly can I just say I'm really baffled that the people pushing for Twitch hot tub streams (on places like twitter) seem to also be the people who were against grid girls who Microsoft hiring women dancers for their GDC party or similar such stuff. Like you're fine with a girl on twitch grinding a bikini in her underwear when some-one tips her but not fine with women wearing somewhat tight but covering outfits walking about a bit around the starting grind and posing a bit for PR shots with a guaranteed wage for doing so and often also talk to teams and develop skills or industry connections?

Second I'm also baffled it's people who consistently have defended or called for female characters to be covered or who are up in games with the claim "Well if you want to wank go look at porn cause we all know you're only pissed cause you can't fap to them". Or arguments about time and place or the tone of it sets for gaming as a whole being "Wrong". But they're defending Twitch hot tub streamers mostly now?

Thirdly if it was just actual chatting and just happened to be hot tubs I'd be more fine with it. Pokemaine did a hot tub just chatting stream and yeh she ended up doing it in a long shirt with presumably a swimming costume under it and friends round also in the hot tub and was chatting with people and with chat.

My main problem is this really does come off as creepy on so many levels. Twitch had a scandal only the other year of one of its staff giving preferential treatment to women streamers (exclusively good looking ones) in exchange for special services like sending them lewds etc. On another level Twitch's majority audience is teenage males so yeh this kinda is softcore for teen boys and no matter how you try and shake it no they wouldn't get the same experience going to a beach or the local pool because if you offered girl there $5 to grind on a banana float you'd probably get a slap from quite a few of them. Also is it really the best "Empowerment" message that guys can get women to do what they want with just a few dollars?

What a lot of hot tub streamers and similar are doing is using twitch to advertise other services like Onlyfans to those who donate or subscribe to them. It's con artistry almost or what would be closer to Romance scams only it's playing on the idea that they may have a chance. The Romance scam analogy works quite well but unlike when it's men doing it to women on dating sites (yes it happens) this is more out in the open and acknowledging the idea others are there to compete with too. Worse some of them have text lines or discords or snapchats where they will chat with their "most devoted" fan etc only it's not them it's some dudes they have hired at just above minimum wage to reply to all the thirsty guys and try to tell them what they think guys would want to hear and keep them hooked in paying money. It's like to use a sex work term a "Girlfriend Experience" only there's now acknowledgement that it will be for this set time and is a fantasy only. It plays on the parasocial nature and relationship of social media / influencer celebrities and it's main audience are young men who lets be honest are horny and thinking with their small head even if they really would normally realise they're being played which again lack of life experience may mean many won't. They're Bart Simpson being Jessica Lovejoyed only with their parents credit cards in hand or their debit cards to their personal accounts. I respect actual cam girls because they don't try to hide it, they know you're jerking it and you can give them money to do stuff and there's a kind of level of honesty almost to it a clear exchange of money for services.

I'm glad said streams were moved to their own category because to put it as best as I can it was setting a tone in just chatting about what was fine there and I can see why some of the other women streamers who expressed their concern over it and the expectation or pressure from people coming into their chat expecting said things to be the norm no matter how much people try to pretend it's different peoples channels and communities as such if you're in the strip club it doesn't matter if you're by the main stage or off by the booth people will assume you're fine with the strip club. The funny thing is this won't solve the problem because this is "The MEta" which evolves to try an avoid the Twitch rules and having the category be specifically hot tubs, pool and beaches just means that the Sauna bikini Yoga streams or Hot Dog eating pole dancing streams or whatever the next evolution of meta is will be back in just chatting very soon. Especially because with it's own very specific category it will be easy for advertisers to just disable advertising on just that category while calling it I dunno "Twitch activities" and throwing hot tub streams in with I dunno some dude cutting wood or some people doing pool trick shots it would create a broader category that the meta couldn't evolve out of.

Finally this meta is a disaster waiting to happen and I don't mean from a financial adpocalypse perspective. You have women, water and live electronics about in the same locations...... Some of them are setting up lighting rigs round their hot tubs to light them better. This is a person dying on stream waiting to happen. One plugged in laptop slips, one lighting rig fall over and it's bye bye. That's the extreme end on the less extreme end people are setting up inflatable hot tubs inside their houses........Sure they're meant to last but only so much and you know sods law will mean at some point one will burst on stream and that's one pretty badly water damaged house.......

So, fake gamer girls is a thing again?
Always has been a thing unfortunately to those who noticed. Even in Early Twitch there was some streamer who finding out about just chatting exclaimed "Thank God I don't have to pretend to like video game anymore and there's nothing no-one can do anymore if I just choose to sit here chatting instead of playing"

I mean they expect to get paid because they do get paid.

If they're taking advantage of kids then I have as much an issue with that as I do predatory marketing of microtransactions in games towards kids.

People spend their money on all sorts of pointless bullshit. We all have to collectively pretend that some dude owns the first ever tweet and people still buy diamonds.

The only reason this stands out to anyone as bad compared to any other transaction is pretty obvious.
Hey now diamonds are fucking useful not just pretty jewellery.

Let me put this in the simplest way I can.

If these women went to a public beach or pool and wore the same bikinis, they would get creepy reactions from horny men. It's something they will have to be aware of and think about every day, at least until they aren't considered attractive any more.

Your issue here seems to be that they've found a way to monetize something which you aren't supposed to admit has value. But it clearly does have value, because people are paying for it.

If you live in a culture which commodifies female bodies, then eventually the women who own those bodies will realise that they have control over a commodity which they can use for personal gain. Beyond the fact that it does actually take a degree of work to do that job successfully, capitalism really doesn't care about the value of labour. The world is full of people who actually get paid for doing nothing, and they're typically earning far more than some e-girl on twitch could ever hope to see.

You can complain about "poor choices" all you want, but it's clearly not a poor choice relative to the other choices available. That's why people are doing it. If wearing a bikini on twitch is more rewarding than anything else available to people, maybe ask yourself why that is.

I mean, there's the separate issue of what is appropriate on Twitch as a platform or what rules should be applied to Twitch streamers, but if Twitch doesn't see a problem, if their brand image isn't being harmed and if they're still able to attract advertisers and investment, then there's no obvious motivation for them to act.
I mean the top hot tub streamer earns according to her own claim ~$365,000 a year just in twitch ad revenue. That's NOT including tips, off-site earnings or Subscriptions or sponsorhip deals. You can pretty easily assume with all that $10 Million a year minimum considering twitch ad revenue makes up like less than 1% of a streamers revenue normally

I can't imagine half the anger and disdain from some people over pointlessly titillating video games that take advantage of the same desires

Anyways, let them do it I suppose, not my sort of thing nor anything I think is great, can't imagine those who watch it are not just weird and skeevy as hell, but it is not some new territory as far as what kinda weird shit sells
I mean I at least get a video game with my digital boobs lol.
That said I can't remember a single game I've ever bought just due to boobs other than to buy it to deliberately review and mock it for being a shallow cash grab.

Missing the point. You're claim was that they expect money my response was no they get it. They ask for money for something they know people will pay money for and then people pay money. Simple as that.

it's not even porn. It's girls in a hottub. That shit wouldn't even be age gates on YouTube.
Actually it would on youtube lol I mean Powergirl & Mary Jane Watson images have previously been deemed inappropriate for youtube tumbnails.

Why shouldn't Twitch run a soft porn service if it wants to?
I mean I'm all for it just make it a clearly separate area or spin off site but I have a feeling a number of hot tub streamers would cry foul like happened with them vs Project Melody because they suddenly had competition that could 1 up what they could offer lol.

You're really over estimating how much effort went into WWE back then. They literally had "lingerie pillow fights" "swimsuit contests" and "The WWE thongathon". In those instances the titlation was the point. If you just through in titlation in the middle, separate to everything going on, like just cutting from game streaming to softcore pornography are you saying you would have less issue with that than, again, women sitting in a hottub?

No there isn't. Ivy's costume is entirely about sexualisation. Any "context" is usually made up after the fact to justify the sexualisation.

No you're being very clear, trust me.
The WWE stuff was like 1 match a show if that and they still often had said things turn into matches E.G. the old Royal Rumble Swimsuit contest that almost yearly turned into a battle royale between all the women in the ring. Also just to point this out but it's WWE, taste and decency isn't a thing ol Crazy Vince understands. I mean we're talking a guy who had to be talked down from having a plotline that his daughter was pregnant via his son (her brother) and had been having a secret incestuous relationship behind HHH's back. Vince suggested that and the mangers and rest of the writing team had to talk him out of it trying to get Stephanie and Shane to do that storyline.

I mean im more concerned with the under 15 year old kids. And i doubt many of them are working and have debit cards.
Why are you concerned about twitch when they have the entire internet. Google does not age verify your searches
[/QUOTE]
It technically does for some accounts and keeps adult content out of the main search if not signed in.

If only there was an out of shape half naked men meta on Twitch, I'm sure there'd be a lot less complaining.
I mean there is it's the parody hot tub streams and Nathan Grayson of Kotaku wrote a piece complaining about them and other stuff being in the hot tub section......

Japanese companies producing girlfriend fantasies. It's pretty funny, actually.
Sorry but that shit takes real artistry to design characters and write the scripts and code them to work. They may not be my think but there is far more art there than a hot tub stream.
