Sometimes some-one has to be devils advocate to try to find points to discuss that might have been overlooked.
Except people do and have chosen to go on about throw away comments in the past. The whole "Don't harp on about it" sounds like "Don't defend yourself against false claims and actually attempt to clarify or re-affirm your position" which if that was the intent suggests a level of disingenuousness to the debates on ones sides part that they're not interested or couldn't care less about an actual persons position but only care for dressing the person up as a strawman and fighting tooth and nail to try and stop the person fighting against mischaracterisation of their positions.
As for "People not agreeing with me". No I see people throwing out multi-post diatribes which amount to little more than "You're a Poopy head who didn't play fair" in terms of the rhetoric contained within them or just attempts to deflect or turn the focus to push people onto the defensive so people can later quietly slip away when proved wrong on something.
