Maybe the US government should focus more on fixing their own corrupt bullshit before focusing on stuff that doesn't matter to 98% of the populace. But I guess if you're part of that top 2% of the wealthy with the government fitting neatly in your pocket your priorities can be a bit skewed.

On a side note, how easy do you think it will be to bipass huh, unless your blocking all vpns, proxys and well there own god damn stupidity im not going to go into any details about witch country this filter is from as it defy s the whole point of said filter (i only found out about it since they accidentally screwed up free file hosts on my isp and i had backed up some stuff up there which i needed for a assignment) but lets just say it is a major filter employed and nearly forced to be employed by all isps in its specific country, but you can easily bypass it with a ssl connection or https (and of course the methods above)(aka just changing the http to ssl or https, see my point here, im just wondering if the us will be as stupid.
Note i already mentioned censorship earlier, this post has nothing to do with it.

in other words, its going to be a pain in the arse to implement effectively.

I guess we now have our generation of McCarthyism.

*sigh*
I think I'm going to call this McMcCarthyism, as a sort of Nu Generation Zing at the whole idea.

In the words of Obama: "Yes we can!"

And soon another question will pop up: "What the fuck have you actually done?!"

An ambitious goal that can be easily thwarted by server movement and proxies.
In the end it only amounts to a political statement and minor inconveniences for a handful of pirates.
Is it worth the large amount of money this "plan" doubtlessly costs? I don't think so.

In other news, luxembourg declares war on the sun!
I happen to live in Luxembourg(No, really) and I can deny that we are at war with the sun. Many of us are not even aware of it's existance, as it is a very rare event that it's spotted in these parts. Would be like declaring war with bigfoot.

And yet the US Government continues to support and enable squatters, spammers and web hijackers online. I guess when the chips come down it's about where the fat cats demand your attention and not having your tax dollars go towards making things better for the individual.

Next stop, income bracket based internet accessibility.

Pah. I don't expect much, the pirates are always five steps ahead.
Actually we're in the next country over; that's how far ahead we are.

Joking aside I can't wait to see them try and take the Bay down, or if Corporate America will just use this as an excuse for them to way overstep their legal boundaries.

So instead of going after pedophiles and other dangeours people...The pirates are the biggest threat because it damages the amount of $$$...

What great fucking idea! Let's spend money on this instead of something else that could have helped people. Like a cure for cancer...
As sad as this statement is the government runs off the idea that "the more money you wave around, the louder of a voice you have; thusly your needs are greater."

At the end of the day if someone wants to download song X or watch program Y, the internet will find a way to make it happen. Always. They're just throwing good money away.

Eventually, Anonymous will get involved then the worlds in deep crap.

Anonymous vs. The US Goverment? You couldn't get me to bet a quid on how thats gonna turn out.
Annonomus is a bunch of cowards and 15 year olds whom continue to opperate because there are no consequences to anything they do. All the US gov would ahve to do is throw one or two of them in prison and the rest would step in line. This applies to Annonomus and any actions it takes aginst the gov and not neccarly to piracy.
This, a hundred times.
I never got why people hype the insignificant actions of /a/b/v/ and similar minded people.

You know how the average raid of Anonymous goes?
Some guy posts a script on /b/ along with a weak explanation why X deserves to be "attacked" and a thousand people run and spread it.

And you know what the best part is?
The guy who wrote the script doesn't even get into trouble because he sure as hell isn't dumb enough to also run it.
If he wasn't nice enough to make the script change proxies expect great Anonymous to get into problems because half of /b/ is too stupid to even know what a proxy is.

Oh, but it still sounds impressive, while most of them are idiots as long as they are guided they are a force to be reckoned with, right?
No.
What do they ever accomplish? A server goes down for 2 days at best. Big fucking deal.

Greatest force on the internet, my ass.

Since the last crackdown was SO EFFECTIVE, I'm still waiting for prices to drop. You know, since they're supposedly only as high as they are due to piracy.
Hah, I like it. Though take it another way, pirated/bootlegged goods surely count as competition, keeping a check on the prices of designer articles - at least to a minor extent. If there's no other way to get Gucci style, what's to stop them charging what they like? Or is that the point of 'fashion'?

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, is the government trying to piss off Anonymous?!

I can't see this ending well for anyone. This thing is way too broad. Sure, if it were just about piracy, I'd be relatively okay with it. But the way this thing is worded at the moment, the way I understand it at least, they can hit anything that pisses them off. And then it's a downhill slope to full blown censorship.

Yawn. Wake me when they change something.
I find myself agreeing a tad. In a few days we'll hear from a few DDoS attacks fromn Anon, followed by the U.S saying they won't take this shit no more, followed by them taking this shit some more...

It's a loop right now... Whether piracy conquers the earth or the U.S turns the human race into an army of corporate slaves, THAT's when I want to be woken

Oh yes, internet pirates are dooming world. Its not that the US is giving away hundreds of thousands of jobs to other countires, or that video companies host $200 million dollar release partys, or that we give all of our money to starving people in countries with names most people have never heard of.....

Nope. Its people downloading something thats overpriced to begin with. Its totally people enjoying music that would have net the artist all of 50 cents if they purchased it. Its definitly not the fact that we SPEND BILLIONS ON SENDING SHIPS INTO SPACE TO FIND PLACES WE WILL NEVER REACH IN THE LENGTH OF HUNDREDS OF HUMAN LIFE SPANS.

Seriously goverment. Fix your sh*t and get your stuff in order before you go after a lowly basement dweller who cant get a job to pay for his "video game addiction" because YOU GAVE IT AWAY TO BEGIN WITH. /endrage

Piracy is bad, even in the game industry. The big studios will always be fine, but it the independents that are hit the hardest. Look at 2D Boy: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/87450-World-of-Goo-Experiences-90-Percent-Piracy-Rate

The industry is not going to get better and more innovative games without a healthy independent scene. Anyone who supports piracy should be ban from this site.
