Clearly he is working with the Fourth Echelon and the Secretary of Spy things to aid them in detonating the hi-yield lo-altitude dirty emp nuclear terrorist bomb in the presidents internet.

So apparently because we put everything on the intertubes that makes it insta targets for cyber-hooligans? Aren't really really important government things kept on not part of all the internet servers with a 36 layer 7 terrabyte encryption key that encrypts the 79 layer 500 terrabyte encryption key protecting the data? I'm sure things like that are kept on back up things that are surgically implanted in wolverine and delete system 32 when they get tampered with.

Or I have no idea what I'm talking about and it'll be just as easy as waltzing into a federal office and stealing papers from there.

Okay, Senators, putting Cyber in front of pre-existing words doesn't make them anymore threatening or impressive. Stop using it as a prefix so damn much.

Let's stop Cyber 9/11 with Cyber Armageddon. That's a brilliant idea, yes. They can't steal our ideas if we send every person in the US back to the 1950s.

This and the other topic about cracking down in unrealistic ways on people who even search for Torrents are reasons to despise the current government. At least, if you're a nerd.

I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that this is only a couple senators being idiots. I guarantee this bill is going to die in committee.

Wouldn't be too sure of that. Our government has done a LOT of stupid things... like The Patriot Act?

Now I'm still trying to find if there's a way to say this proposed nutcase of a bill is unconstitutional if they do pass it.

I live in England and to be honest if the americans shut off the internet the government would flip, we're a small country but we can kick a lot of arse politically if we need to this would not happen outside of america as russia, n.k, china and a fair few others would be none too pleased either and would show their displeasure in a far less courteous way than we would if it was world wide. Still isn't this a form of censorship though which is unconstitutional in the u.s?

And this will get passed just like the Patriot act and all that nonsense.
Of course, the people will do nothing about it, but complain, instead of seriously moving to abolish it.

I would argue that the internet is an idea, and whoever thought of making a network accessible by anyone at all is the inventor of it. From what i know, and seeing as he was marked out from a team of people who would have been working on HTML it sounds like it would have been his idea to make a globaly accesible network, or world wide web.
HTML has nothing to do with networking. It has to do with making text data accessible by splitting data and formatting. The Internet and HTML are entirely separate ideas. Once you can finally understand that you can start to understand the power of the Internet.

The Internet is about creating a pathway for data to flow from one processing unit to another regardless of what the information is. The pathway is created from a network of networks sometimes referred to as "The Cloud", because the route is unknown at the time of transmission. Your data will find it's way by using road signs provided by routers as they proceed to their destination. The Internet is passive this way. It's just a set of routes to travel and isn't interested in what is traveling on it.

TLDR: The Internet is not HTML. HTML does not need the Internet to exist. It just so happens that HTML was one of a few platform independent standards for text formatting and became a defacto standard across a platformless Internet.
i know that
what i was actually saying is that him and his team are generally regarded as having invented the internet so you would assume it was thier idea to make a glabaly accessible public network. As soon as you can get the idea of intellectual property in to ur head the quicker this will be

Oh, Lieberman! What zany right-wing paranoid fear-mongering will you bring us next? And, more importantly, what civil liberties crushing solution will you propose?

Gut miranda rights? Check. Deny accused criminals other basic rights? Check. Pave the way for a government seizure of the internet? Check.
Joe Lieberman is one of the most LEFT-winged politicians in the US today. Not right-winged. And when were criminals deprived of their rights?

But that would prohibit our freedom of speech or expression. Which the US goverment can't do. Also they cannot forcefully remove us from peaceful gatherings. Like internet chat rooms (work with me here) so that means if this passes, it's unconstitutional

Just proves how poor a job the mainstream media (especially Fox News) does - people cannot even tell the difference between liberals and conservatives anymore. Or are you just one of those tea party 'morans' who believe anyone to the left of Glenn Beck is a card-carrying communist?

2001-2002. Patriot Act.
The legal gaps it creates are astonishing, and often hypocritical at best.

The trouble with the internet is it was designed to withstand Nuclear attacks. You can't stop the signal.

You do realize that the road sign hacking can be done by anyone with two hands, right? It literally takes a crow bar, or pliers to get the door open and type in what you please.
