They do realize Assassin's creed 3 features not only hunting, but encouraged and required players to kill animals with various means including stabbing them in the face and using poison. In addition it's protagonist skinned and sold the fur of said animals. As a matter of fact Assassin's creed 3 is pretty much much the most brutal hunting game I've ever played. They didn't seem to notice that did they?

This game is just allowing PETA to indulge it's time travel fantasy to go back and protest in the 18th century. Which is just about the most depressing time travel fantasy I can think of.

"We only condone milking our franchise harder than Call of Duty, except on a worse scale, because whereas Call of Duty pretty much stays the same every year, we continue to drop the quality of the Assassin's Creed franchise every year."
Quite a sad story. The original had a great concepts but lacked variety. The second was IMO, GOTY. Then... yearly releases and drops in quality all the way until what was once an amazing series became mediocre. I will say this though, the ship combat from ACIII was my favourite part so they could be heading in the right direction. Hopefully they make it more complex.

They are out of place. I think these people at PETA are dangerous.
Can't decide if they are uber-trolls or just really really stupid.
Just really stupid. they wouldnt be killing animals in the thousands if they were just trolling.

Whaling was a massive part of the economy of the Northeastern US at the time. Should we just brush history under the rug and pretend it never happened?

I don't agree with PETA and I sure as hell don't like em. But I don't really see what's fun about whaling in a game either.

Doesn't seem like a thing to feel big about.

I know its like not real and everything and I'm not saying they shouldn't do it but it just seems a weird choice to me that's all. I can't see myself sitting there having beaten a whale and be like yeah I kicked its ass! :S I'd just feel like a huge jerk.

Hey PETA...umad bru?

Heh, jesus it's a game let it go. You'd think that people who kill pets wouldn't care about pixels on a screen forming in the shape of a dying animal.

"To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless." Oh and PETA what I just mentioned includes an option to kill oryx in one very specific moment, that is all.

They don't condone drunken debauchery? Dammit, now I don't believe in Ubisoft anymore.

I hope I can go whaling in AC4. I will rid those virtual seas clean of whales just to piss PETA off. Although I suppose they're going to be too busy euthanizing house pets to care about my gaming habits.

I got a sudden urge to torture, mutilate and kill whales now. PETA WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG, GAMES MAKE YOU VIOLENT.

Oh wait, I got the urge because I wanted to piss off PETA, not because a game presented it. My bad.
I kind of had a similar feeling. Whenever I see stupidity like this it just makes me want to do what they don't want to piss them off.

"We do not condone illegal whaling, just as we don't condone a pirate lifestyle of poor hygiene, plundering, hijacking ships, and over-the-legal-limit drunken debauchery."
Way to discredit my lifestyle Ubisoft. What's next? Will they condemn savagery and pillaging? What about our parrots and wooden legs? THEY WILL TAKE OUR YARRS!

Damnit, stop posting these kind of stories about PETA! It's exactly what they want you to do, cant anyone remember the Tanooki Suite fiasco?

Much as it's weird to admit, I've really begun to like Ubisoft again. They've been doing some positive things with what they have. Cheers.

I think PETA needs to be put down, it's the kindest thing to do, it doesn't seem to know what it's talking about. Also it keeps trying to shit on things it has no right to shit on.
Is it wrong that I kinda agree with this? Well, okay, the misinformed people can live. The crazy ones on the other hand...

OT: True, ignoring them might be good... but I honestly doubt that'll keep them from complaining...

It's kind of a silly thing to get worked up about, especially since PETA appears to have no problem with the wholesale slaughter of virtual human beings for fun and profit
While it is understandable what you're trying to say here, I think its a moot point. This logic doesn't apply to PETA or how they function. They openly value animals (and animal rights) above humans - its fundamental to the core beliefs of animal liberation activists. Violence against humans is fair game and not really their concern.

I'm not on PETA's side about this, but its something I see overlooked or misunderstood very often.
