It's instances like this that make me sad to be an American. We need to stop pretending like we don't have and enjoy sex.

Not that I would play this game anyway.
What are you talking about? Americans don't make babies! We outsource them!

"But how do you have babies without screwing?"

Screw the screws! We have money!

I'm as "shocked and appalled" by the suggestion that I might want to play that minigame collection as the next person, but the fact that it's not actually coming to the US made me laugh out loud.

Wait, wait wait.

So for once a game is going to be released in AUSTRALIA that won't make it to the United States over content issues? Finally someone else will understand what we have to endure :D

bwahahahaha. That's surely someone's early-released april fools joke?

If not: Are american's really so repressed that this game would cause an outrage? Or even be better than fracking aweful?

Sigh. the world we live in.
Why is it, that if it happens in America it's because Americans are repressed, or stupid, or too guarded. But when Germany or Australia bans a game, it's "Oh well, that's those damn game boards. Can't wait for the next meeting."

Edit: Wow look at all these posts, that immediately ask if it's because of the American people. Not the government, nor the political groups, nor any other bias'd faction but the American people.

It got a 12-rating over here, so now all the Murdoch media-outlets are freaking out. Nevermind that the game itself clearly doesn't have anything as sexual as what they're actually doing in the trailer. Not that I'd describe that as sexual, exactly.

Sex in video games isn't the issue here, the issue is this is the worst concept anyone could possibly expect to function as a game and it probably shouldn't show up in north America. I'm sorry for everyone else that will be seeing it in stores.

As for sex in video games, it needs to happen, it's an integral part of the human condition. Why would anyone feel threatened by it? The option is there to ignore it if it really bothers you for some reason.

Considering Ubisoft's reaction, that just makes me wonder, if they hadn't chosen to not release this in the US what would FOX news have said?

Well its best not to wonder.

Oh, America. Why the hell do we always freak out whenever sex is involved? Seriously,it's a part of life, so why can't we just accept that and move on? People have genitalia and a desire to use said organs, and the sooner we figure that out, the less time we'll spend sticking our heads in the sand. Besides, it's not like they're really saving the children or anything--even if sex WERE harmful (which it's not), a curious kid need only head for the nearest computer to find out what sex is all about.

I'm kind of going on a tangent here, but American opinions on sex and sexuality really annoy me. On the one hand, EVERYTHING is sexualized, and it's almost guaranteed that a piece of entertainment media will have a man or woman (depending on the intended audience) thrown in for eye candy. Conversely, if anything becomes obviously sexual, a storm of shit comes through shouting 'O MY GOD THINX OF THE CHYLDRENS!!!1!11!' I really, really wish that we could get past this puritanical view of sexuality and just enjoy it.

Getting back on topic, I'm not really surprised that this isn't getting an American release (for the reasons outlined above). I don't really think that it's necessarily a great loss, but it's still infuriating to see America's useless and contradictory views on sexuality muck things up.

This is silly. Americans aren't against it because it's "naughty", we're against it because it looks horrible. It shouldn't be released anywhere, let alone in the US.

Is America still that conservative? Oh well. Sex and video games; the two biggest evils of our time are once again one.
Now I'm happy to live in Europe.
While I'd typically agree with you, this is one case where I'd rather be in the US. The game just looks that bad...

A fleeting moment of shallow inconsequential joy followed by utter apathy?

Strange, that's not how I usually feel when I hear about the games delayed down there, I'm typically pretty miffed.

In case anyone's curious, this is the best remixed version of that trailer I've seen:

OT, maybe they just figured the game won't sell well here (for good reason). Does anyone really miss the opportunity to pass up on yet another shovelware game?

Wait, why wouldn't it go over to you guys? The ad clearly shows ADULTS playing the game. What possible problem is there?
Well the game was rated 12+ for "Mild Sexual Themes". I doubt the U.S. rating board (ESRB) would EVER let that game be sold to teens, but the discrepancy between the rating and the marketing is really strange.
OT: I think I'm actually okay with this, mainly because the media would make a big deal about it. I'm sure that they'd say the game was promoting child sex/pornography, and oh dear that would not go over well.

Not really. There would have to be a game that is actually worth playing not coming out in the US.

So then the two places that are the heaviest with censorship are getting a game that was banned in the country that doesn't censor anything? I mean look at Germany and Australia, Australians don't even have a rating that's high enough to classify some games and Germany cuts out most things from their release of games.

I don't think it's never coming out in America due to "sexual repression", I think it's not coming out over here because the Americans on the internet took one look at the trailers and instantly started mocking the living shit out of it.

Seriously, it's not because it's "too risque", it's because we started making fun of their ridiculous commercials as soon as we saw them. If the entire internet is teeming with "this is a joke, right"? commentary, I'd want to hide the commercial too!

If even Superman 64 was okay enough for America, then so is We Dare.
