To discuss:
1) Does Ms. Wallace deserve the hate she is getting? If yes, does it make you happy to see the internet destroying her?
2) How awesome is this song?
1. If she's truly being honest about what's going on, I don't think she deserves all that much crap for what she's saying. Is it racist? Yes. Is it true? Probably. Having seen how retarded rediculous Britain is with catering to Middle Eastern people that purposfully move to another country with different customs and social norms and expect everyone to just bend to how they used to live is wrong. I'm not afraid to say it. It's wrong. If you move to another country, for whatever reason it may be (achieve higher education, old country was a bad place, love, job, etc etc.) you need to get it through your head that the place you move to may not be like where you were.

Does this mean we all need to be assholes about it? No, it doesn't. I can draw from a similar experience where an asian student (I think he was Korean, we have a lot of Korean immigrants here, not that there's anything wrong with that because a lot of them are very nice) transfered to our University. His parents actually came over for a few weeks and were doing laundry in our machines. It was awkward to have to ask them not to. You know what though? They were doing their laundry at the same time because A) They didn't have a washer and dryer -and- B) Their son had never done the laundry before because it was his mother's job and he needed help learning. So, yeah, knock out two birds with one stone, right? If you're going to put quarters into someone's washing machine, it might as well be the school where your kid goes, right? Regardless of how awesome that geasture was from his parents, they still were refused access to our laundry rooms thereafter. However, what we did do is help that student out with his laundry when he needed it and he eventually learned how to do it. The family started doing their laundry at the laundromat (where it cost exactly the same) and the student made some new friends and learned how to do his laundry.

So yeah. No need to be racist, it's just sometimes certain customs like, say, your family functioning as a well oiled unit and having specific jobs is just a concept not as well known in other cultures. For them, it was just how life went. They had always been together and they needed eachother to function. Did it all work out, though? Well, yeah, because the people around the family weren't complete jerks that demanded complete reform and the family were open to change and realised that things worked differently here. This is what we should be striving for. The ability to adapt our culture to that which we live in while retaining the values we cherrish most. It's not hard, it just takes a little openmindedness.

In the end, I agree that what those students are doing is wrong. They shouldn't be talking on phones in a library and their families shouldn't be over-running the dorms just to do their daily chores. The dorms/off-campus apartments are for the students, not the families. Whether you agree or not, well, it's her vlog, she can speak her mind. I don't think she deserves all the downvotes she got, I think she just put the video out at a very hyper-sensitive time towards asians in general with what Japan is enduring, most likely to get more hits on the video. Any press is good press, I suppose.

2. The song is pretty awesome. I chuckled a little. Is it well informed and speak a higher form of intelligence? No, dude's a dumb shit for being a sheep and just giving into what the concencus is without really looking into what that girl is saying. Again, I understand the entire basis of her argument is really "he said, she said" but if she speaks the truth then those students and their families really are out of line. That behaviour shouldn't be tolerated in any student and their families, whether they're black, asian, white, native american, latino or whatever (except purple people, they can go to hell!). It was a cheap stab at asians at a time where asians are a hot button topic. Big deal. Get over your race. Be the bigger man and not talk about it because making a song just gets her what she wants: more hits!

1.) I was slightly offended by her remarks, but meh. I'm ignorant to most American culture, as are most Americans to mine. However, she generalises way too much in her video and makes it sound that ALL Asians have their parents at their apartments constantly.
2.) Pure win, that video is.

That reply is perfect, tbh,if only more people, instead of responding to hate with hate, use smarts and wit, and try to be funny about it. She'll look even dafter, and you'll maintain the high ground.

I'm the first to admit that people from different cultures can be rude and at times annoying when they are assimilating. I know I probably was when I moved to England.
You!? you've been courteous to a fault since I've first seen you post. Hell I'm worse than you and I'm so British I crap crumpets!

But yeah, she's just uninformed, not exactly racist. Racism is something that really hits you when you hear it and I wouldn't call this racism.
Haha thankyou :)

Yeah, I remember I was in a Cafe in Manchester after I arrived and I was talking in Arabic with my sister and we were laughing and playing around and a man in the cafe said "We don't do that in England". Another time I recall was at school in Manchester, I stood too close and was too touchy with a few authority figures. Something that is very normal in Algeria is touching people and being very close to one another whilst conversing.

So I do think it is fair of me to say that I have definitely annoyed people through my culture. I can kind of empathise with this girl.

Yeah that's got to be one of the best replies I've seen on youtube to such a video, the most amazing part is that guy has actual talent, for both, it seems singing/playing as well as mixing an editing and for that he win's my respect.

Didn't you know? Only white people can be racist.

This seemed like more of a rant on rude people that happened to be Oriental then them actually being Oriental. She does have a point about cell phones and libraries and how you're supposed to keep it down because it's a library.

Honestly, the signing guy is being more offensively stereotypical. But overreactions from the internet are as predictable as the sun rising in the morning.
Yeah, right here.

I mean, I watched the original video and she was mainly talking about just standard manners in a library. Though I somehow doubt she would have made a video if it was a white person who did it, but I doubt she was intentionally trying to be racist.

Regardless, that song was awesome.

Ching-chang-chong indeed.

I don't think she needs as much hate as she's getting. She's not too bright looking and though she is a bit racist, who isn't? Americans hate the French, Britains hate Americans, ect, ect. and she's just saying she hates when people talk in a library when she's doing finals. Had it been an Irish guy or a Hispanic guy she probably would have done the same thing. But on the other hand, this is is pretty funny. I don't think he's "showing love" but he is doing a good job of making fun of her.

She's a dumb spoiled white *****, most likely on the west coast, and probably southern california.

Stupid is stupid, no matter if it's rich or poor. The response this guy made mocking her is better than any screaming rant people could give

Living in Southern California, I can tell you that there are not as many, as you so eloquently put it, "dumb, spoiled, white bitches" as you might delude yourself into believing. In fact, this area is predominantly hispanic last I checked. So tell me how what you just said he is at all any different from what the person in the video did. She was ranting about culture clash. You're calling everyone who lives in SoCal a dumb *****.

Think about it.
I lived in LA for two years, near Santa Monica and close to Venice Beach. I saw dumb, overly made up shallow whores all the time with so much eye-liner they looked like raccoons, obsessing about Ugg boots they bought with daddy's money and talking like they don't have a damn brain cell in their bleach blonde fake tanned heads.

East LA is predominately latino. Had a fantastic meal there with some friends at a place that serves goat.

Doesn't make it any less prejudice, dude, in the way we're dicussing and that is deemed the true menaing of prejudice in this case. The point is that nobody is asking if she's correct in her statements that these students are bringing their families to do their chores in a student appartment or that they talk on phones in the library, but that it's a stereotype she's promoting and that's wrong. In your statement you promoted a stereotype (whether it be true or not) that portrays all southern Californian girls as prissy, valley girls that don't have half a brain and buy everything with their parent's money. Can you say that all of those girls are whores, beyond the shadow of a doubt? That they all are dumb and don't just use slang when around their peers (as I'm sure you do)?

Why don't you think before you type the next time you need to try and make an argument? Or are you from Southern Cali too? ;)

Well no shit you saw that if you live in fucking Santa Monica. >_< That's were all the hollyweirdos and the neuvo riche live. And Venice Beach is traditionally a hang out for whack jobs and bleach blondes. But that's just one little area. Do you really think you're gonna find those people if you head further inland? Wow, just wow...
I don't think I said "all girls in southern california are idiots" did I? I said she was probably from that area because there are so many like in her in that particular region. I think both of you need to stop being so knee-jerk about this sort of thing.

While others spent a mere moment to write an angry comment, you took the time to write an entire song making a complete fool out of her while at the same time being an incredible and memorable song, I tip my hat to you good sir.
