I've not been on the escapist much lately and dont watch tv anymore because i had been playing games or working. Last few weeks when im on the escapist ive been seeing the pony avatars...
Is it good? Im just slightly confused to see something like that on the escapist.

May I ask why you're so against watching it?

because i get like 5 emails a day about ponies from my "friends" telling me to watch so i did and i didn't like it but soon i started to hit stage where you feel like watching more of it until i find out that my friend had almost lost his job because of that show so he stopped watching it and i said this needs to stop now. so that is why i hate it but man if that didn't happen i could of became one of them a brony as they call it

On the topic of your friend who almost lost his job, that's not exactly a reason not to watch it. Might mean your friend has little self-control or consideration of his job. If you watch it you can at least see if you like it or not, if you don't then that's fine. I don't like it myself, however if you do like it then you've found something that you enjoy. The whole hype aversion I can understand, since when something is hyped so much they're usually just average and marketed up the metaphorical ass. However note that this is promotion by people (Like with minecraft) and not some marketing scheme like bioware's 'Like this 1 million times' thing.

Yes, in the same way Team Fortress 2's art style will have undoubtedly turned people away who would of loved it over the past four years. People need to get this notion that cartoons = kids out of their heads.

Also, given the fact that it's My Little Pony, it's also far better than it has any right to be.

I think that's why people are making such a big deal. There's such a rift between expectation and reality we don't quite buy it.

I don't think there would be posts about it every other day if it were a completely original property called "Wolverine Corner" where the characters are wolverines and magic wolverines and flying wolverines, and all the towns are named in weasel puns. It would still be a solid show, but you wouldn't have the shock value of getting a solid show out of a revival of the franchise which made the phrase "television for girls" a byword for "irredeemable crap".

I wonder how they'd justify the magic wolverines and the flying wolverines...
