Umm....okay?

Look Fox, you need to take a breather here. maybe do a couple barrel rolls, that always calms you down :D

OT: another politician over-reacting to a video game in an attempt to look tough on something he has absolutely no idea about. it's guy's like this that make EA look like half-way decent people.

Odd question but should revolutionary war games be banned as well? Or a game that features you playing as any sort of criminal who shoots civilians/cops.

"At the hands of the Taliban, children have lost fathers and wives have lost husbands,"

And the Middle-Easterners the British troops are killing have no families? What world is this bloke living in? Imagine if YOUR country was invaded by a foreign power that was trying to force its culture on you and get rid of yours? Wouldn't YOU fight to drive them out?

I see nothing wrong with playing as the Taliban, for it is just a label and different character model (which is nothing more than little triangles called polygons covered in colored squares called pixels that when combined are called the texture map).

I wouldnt ban it, but I really dont like what EA has done, its distasteful imo.
What for? (That's a question - not an insult)
Talibans are, after all, still humans, and you wont find a human willing to pick up a gun and risk his/her head without a VERY good reason. I think this could be quite an opportunity to show the Talibans view of this confilct, which, to be honest, tends to be pictured as quite black and white. And come on, wars are never black and white.

This implies that the Government cares about the morality of the the situation in the Middle East, which is odd, as all I've heard of is them taking the legs from soldiers, and kill women and children.

Also, isn't "Un-British" something the Daily Mail would say?

WIN my friend. Especially when you think he's a supporter of the Trident initiative - UK's nuclear deterrent that always has 1 submarine on patrol ready to fire the most appalling weapons in the world at ALL times.

I would like to see a member of the Arab or Russian community complain about the constant demonising they receive and get us much press as these idiots.

So what exactly does the UK military do to people? Tickle them into submission?
I'm fairly certain that gunfire and various explosives are used instead.

I dont know, I wont BAN it but at the same time i cant say that it sits well with me, seems more like a shameless controversy cash-grab by EA than an urge to realistically depict both sides in a current ongoing conflict... that an i cant help but think "too soon"

if anything the Taliban have more of a right to go to war than america did(Which then called in the justice league against the axis of evil or what ever) america help oust their DEMOCRATICALLY elected prime minster(or what ever they call it) and install a dictator who killed many people(I forgot which country this was in I think Iran) the Taliban kills 3000 americans(give or take like 200 hundred foreigners) and we go to war.
The Taliban are cowards who kill OUR soldiers. I think the problem is that most of you seem to be too far removed from the reality of what is actually happening in the world.
um how they cowards our soliders have state of the art body armor and unmanned drones these guys have aks from the 80s and tnt that they strap to themselves, I am not condoning what they are doing I am just saying they aren't cowards it takes balls to strap dynamite to yourself incredibly crazy balls but balls none the less.

ps I am not trying to troll I feel incredibly sorry for the people who lost their lives that day but it is meaningless if people don't know what drove these people to it.

If this actually happens, I'm moving.

OT: Well, we knew it would be coming. It's not even like a idea of daily tasks performed by the Taliban, it's online multi-player, so it's just the same as having the Third Reich in any other FPS.

But I cannot control our goverment, so I shall wait and see..

An 'un-British game'? What is it with this country and all the stupid, washed up patriotism? What exactly makes it so 'un-British'? What are these mystical values Dice and EA don't hold that the UK clearly does?

So hey, uh, our armies have also killed people with families... just wanted to remind people before anyone tries to take a moral high ground when it comes to war.

Mr. Fox, you say it is unforgivable to have Taliban PCs shooting at soldiers in a video game. But having RUSSIAN TERRORIST PCs in a game, WHO SLAUGHTER HUNDREDS OF UNARMED CIVILIANS IN COLD BLOOD is completely fine. Just one question. who the F*CK picked this guy to run the British army?!

Don't you play as the Taliban, or something similar in multiplayer matches in COD4 and MW2?

Why weren't those games called to be banned? Well 2 was, but that was because of the airport thing.
1 I'm pretty sure "Op For" is some form of terrorist group, if not the taliban.

2 The British are really touchy about Afgahnistan. Being one of the British, I guess we're pretty supportive of our soldiers, although I'm sure it'sthe same for other countries with forces deployed there aswell.
