So you wander around wanting everybody to be guilty of crimes? Do you assume that every court case should have a 'guilty' verdict? You should definitely be on a jury, lol.

You should never assume someone's guilty until it's proven. That's the entire point why we have courts and law and (unfortunately) lawyers instead of lynch mobs. You know, to weigh up evidence and make a decision based on that in a proper way, allowing the accused to defend themselves.
Ahhh. The voice of reason. How sweet it sounds to my ears.

You're not single by any chance, are you?

read this and pay attention

I DON'T "WANT" HIM TO BE GUILTY,
I FIND THE IDEA THAT SOMEONE WOULD ACTIVLY WANT HIM TO BE INNOCENT TO BE ABSURD!
So you want him to not be guilty... but wanting him to be innocent is absurd?

Logic. That is just awesome logic right there. Epic.
Read what I said you tit!

I don't want him to be ANYTHING
Wanting him to be guilty is stupid
wanting him to be not guilty is stupid
I dont know any other way I can say it, this is the simpelest laguage I can put it in, I would've though that SOMEONE would've been able to fucking read and understand a not-very-difficult-to-understand concept!

You see now you've gone and got my dander up.
I think I love you. You're just awesome.

I like the fact that as the internet becomes a larger part of everyones lives there are now laws which protect people. What was recently in a paper I read today was how they are trying to crack down on internet stalkers and bring in laws to protect those affected by said internet stalkers.
I'm going to assume that that wasn't sarcasm and say thanks.

On cyberstalking I feel there isn't that much difference between it and actual stalking especially nowadays that everyone is online most of the time, the only difference I can see is nobody is going through your bins or hiding behind a hedge with a camera and the former could quite easily lead into the latter.

Oh god, don't get her(him?) started please!
No it wasn't sarcasm, I really respect people like you, just because you don't go silent and wonder off when someone repeatedly misinterprets what you say, most people just go 'Screw it don't get it now, you never will so I'm just going to leave' might sound like a wierd thing to respect but you're helping people by explaining what you're saying. hope that kinda makes sense.

It does and thanks,
It's just I hate being misinterperated or misquoted, never have been able to figure out why.

I want to laugh so much since it seems like an overreaction, but I know how irritating DDoS programs can be like that can be, such as some ijji program managed to block me from megaupload for a week by repeatedly accessing the website from my computer and causing me issues with connectivity whenevery my computer was turned on.

i wouldn't call a dos a hack or a cheat.. thats just forcing your opponents offline so your left with the lower skilled opposition
Not quite. What it actually does is ruin their connections, meaning they're fighting through helluva lag, and you can run around with the only good ping on the server (or as host) nuking them all.

Huh. You know, I called it- you get one person using a denial of service attack on a high-profile target, then you get more, and more, and more until it overflows. Then even your grandma is doing it.

Why would you want someone to be guilty of a crime? Where is your logic?
umm...how about when they committed the crime?

/facepalm

My point was: why would you want him to be guilty? Wouldn't you rather it all be a misunderstanding? Or completely made up?

Wishing someone to be guilty of a crime is silly enough, but to do so when all the information you have is a single post on a (mostly) video game website... Well, that's plain crazy.
Sorry we don't live in Happy-Go-Lucky Fantasy Star Land. Crimes happen, and unless you think a quantifiable DoS attack just happened spontaneously, coincidentally out of his IP and on the CoD servers that he was playing on, this kid was most definitely guilty.

If this is true, then it's laughable. Hacking a game isn't a criminal offence.

What's really going on here?
did you even read the article? He didn't get arrested for cheating in a game, he got arrested for launching a Denial of Service attack, which IS a criminal offense in the UK.

The fact that he was doing it for something as petty as cheating in a game just adds insult to injury.

Because he's an asshole who crashed peoples computers. Case closed.
You seem to have missed the point by quite a lot.

Well the first person you were arguing with was getting annoyed due to his point of view being "Let's hope justice is done", rather than starting with the assumption of "guilty" or "innocent". Possible differences on whether certain statements refer to the jury's decision or the actual committing of the crime seem to have added to this.

Now this Super Toast fellow is probably a more accurate target for your ire - from what has been presented to us, he has already assumed "guilty" and thus seems to want to skip ahead to the punishment.

See, this is the sort of thing that made me stop playing Modern Warfare 2. The COD multiplayer community seemed to have a MUCH higher prick : normal gamer ratio than I was used to.

But you know what? I feel really sorry for the prick in question. Not sorry that he got caught, or that he'll likely be punished, but because he felt he needed to resort to a DOS attack to win a game of online multiplayer. What a sad little bastard; let's all hope he learns from this.

By the way, I'm afraid I have to agree, in part, with Simiathan. Pirate Kitty, please calm down.

I came here, thinking the "hacks" were something along the lines of an aimbot. If that were so, I would question the police action.

Instead, I hear this dude used DDoS attacks? To make his opponents lag? I'm honestly confused now...how does that provide a benefit? Did he force all the players better than him to disconnect?

Whatever his perceived gain, I'm glad they took this dude down.

THIS! What the hell? I don't agree with what he did, although it sounds hilarious, but when people get arrested at the whim of a game company.. that's just crazy.

Another funny thing about this article is that it says that he paid for the tool that allowed him to DoS his oppos. What a noob. Such tools are freely available if you know where to look.

EDIT:

When you DoS someone, you flood them with traffic leading to them disconnecting. But before they disconnect they experience huge lag in everything they do online. That is the benefit. You basically disable them and then they disconnect.

At first I was like 'WTF!?' going by the title.

Then I read on and found out the kid had the bright idea of launching DDoS attacks.

Yeah, he deserves it.
