Its hard to find a state so consistently poorly governed and in the wrong.
Well, a large an important one, perhaps. Lots of countries that are a mess stay a mess for a long time, and if they have the power to bully their neighbours, will do so. Not a defence of Russia, mind, just saying there's a pattern.

Most probably do. However Ukraine has at times had severe shortages meaning that had to basically take all offers, even the sketchy ones. And there are always scumbags trying to make a quick buck.
It's pretty standard: this happened in WW2 in many countries (including of course the famous Oskar Schindler).

Even if not wartime, Covid was a crisis and these scumbags happily defrauded the UK government with faulty PPE. They already took the money out of the company and pocketed it, so although the company has to repay the government it's got no money to do so. There should really be a law to claw back this money from these greedy fuckers, but there never is. I don't think any of them loses sleep that they're sitting on dirty money.

Oh goodness we weren't the only ones. Here in the Netherlands a political and TV personality set up a big charity to buy mouth masks and used his influence to bully the government into passing over more legitimate options. Then it turned out it wasn't a charity at all and that they got paid millions upon millions for the deal, privately gloated with his mates that they'd ''all get howling rich!'' and ''For no amount would I be doing this for free!''

And then the masks were so shoddily made that they didn't even work. Whoops. Incidentally that was also the end of that guy's career and he now lost everything.

For this argument to work we’d need examples of the Dutch trying to get Belgium and Indonesia back, the French to recreate Napoleon’s empire or the Spanish to seek expansion into South America.
No. We would not. Because...

Very few European countries say they either still own or should still own countries they previously conquered, while its the whole essence of Russian foreign doctrine.
This is simply not true.

Countries in BRICS consider them allies.
Russia was the only ally of Syria in BRICS. And Russia did a lot to keep Assad in power.
Venezuela ? No real alliance with any BRICS nation. Relevant economic relations with China and Russia, not with any of the others.

"Having bad relations with the US" is not an alliance.

But yes, it is good that Iran has not the leeway anymore to export Shaheds to Russia. Unfortunately Russia is nowadays able to produce them itself.

Xi > Putin.

This article just proves that Xi is likely the least incompetent person in China and likely the most fit to lead. If it had been Saddam who had tanks with outdated anti-tank sabot in his T-series tanks, this wouldn't happen as often. It also proves that the military industrial complex in China has the same problems as the US, but in different ways. Whereas the US struggles with economies of scale, China struggles with corruption.

The weird thing is why you would want to be that corrupt to that much of a irrational degree. If even one J-20 has a bad part, and this was proven to be malicious it's not like the US where Lockmart/Lockheed Martin/LMT will get fined or it's stock price will decrease. It's a lot more serious, what idiot would do this, the guy who designed the jet is a moron if he did this. What's the point of one more house/value of gold bars, etc. What will that changed in your life, you have created the eastern F-22 that can be scaled up in a short period of time. This is why many smart people, academics, etc. don't like rich people. They can think instead of hoard, and that's coming me who has not played 60% of my steam library.

Even if your rich that wealth disappears in three generations, and sure your kid will be a nepo baby, but they lack the innovation, drive, and general gusto that you have. Knowledge, innovation, etc. can't be taken away (granted you can die via a jealous person).

You guys keep saying I like poltical power, well one political power means you get undynamic, and ordering people around is fun for a while until you lose the skills needed to do it yourself.

Not surprising.
Every gouvernment that tries to control speach runs into the issue that upholding the official truth ruins every whistleblowing and gets in the way of fighting corruption. If the patriotic thing is to pretend everything is fine, nothing gets fixed.

Same thing as in the former communist block.

But why is this in the Ukraine thread ?

To prove Russia is a paper tiger and the EU could just asked the US to extend their nuclear umbrella while their coalition could have dealt with Putin, same can't be say about Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines against China.

Do we know any of these specifics about the J20 are true?

So, I have a channel that keeps coming up in my YouTube feed constantly promoting Russian mass casualties and failures in its war on Ukraine, and that it's economy is about to collapse. The reality everywhere else for the last few years says its grindling a slow advance. There are a lot of channels pumping out a load of utter shit. The reason I tend not to use video reports is that I suspect there's more garbage than good journalism.

In general, yes, China has a reputation for corruption, and it is likely that this does affect its military hardware to some degree such that the above is possible. But after that, how much is verified? There's a chance that this story is almost completely untrue, or it is based around a kernel of truth that has been vastly exaggerated into the realm of fantasy.

I use a variety of sources. In the US you have access to WeChat if your Chinese to talk to family and friends in China. Also despite the fact that this subreddit is too pro-China for my liking even the pro-China people agree that it was due to corruption, but your right it's unknown if the jet is affected or not, but they did remove him from AVIC's website.

Also Russia is suffering losses. You can estimate how many tanks they have lost using civllian satellite imagery, even I know this, and I am still taking my remote sensing class.
