When was the last time you killed someone with this? (outside of TF2)
When I was playing Doom.

Also from Doom, the BFG.

The Magnum in Halo Reach. I don't know if it's a reflex leftover from Halo 3 or if most players just don't like having to aim, but I almost never see other players using the Magnum. They usually stick with the Assault Rifle, which means, of course, when they run at me and start shooting, they're dead before they can get within melee-spam range.

I waqs pretty amazed at how little the pistol was used in the original halo. It was an overpowered beast.
Are you kidding? I thought everyone used the pistol? Wasn't there a large amount of complaint when they replaced it with the crappy magnum in 2 and 3?
Halo: CE = Pistol+Shotgun=GET OUT OF MY WAY FLOOD!

Any pistol, ever, in any game. Except the Desert Eagle.
really? It's a great weapon for BC2, CoD, GTA4, Killing Floor, Splinter Cell, (in some places) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and a couple of other games.

But then again, I find it funny to take something down with what is widely regarded as "cack".

EDIT: 666 post...woooooOOOOoooOOOOOO!
And I only mentioned 6 games...
And my PC clock in on 03:12 (which added makes 6).

Odd...also, 6 lines of text (not including the quote).

Anyone even slightly good will use the pistol once they realize that it's actually a good weapon again. And they learn the whole "rhythm" aspect of handling recoil that was added to Reach.

I would be more inclined to believe that it's an instinct that came from Halo 3, since the pistol, well... It sucked there.

Fallout 3... I don't think I ever have used any of the melee weapons except for the Baseball Bat, Auto Axe, and the Chinese Officer's Sword.

One example is the plasma pistol.(halo3 and reach)

It disables shields leaving your opponent vulnerable so you can easily kill them with your other weapon.
I use it all the time to get easy kills but I always see discarded or unused plasma pistols littering the ground and I happily pick them up.
I didn't even know it did that.

On topic...uh...I have no idea...

My underused weapon: Nevan from Devil May Cry 3.

Seriously. It's a fucking guitar that shoots lightning. Why does no one ever use it?

Satchel Charges from the GTA games and Saint's Row 2. Can be good for the occasional chuckle, but not very useful in a fight - I always tended to blow myself up.

Most of the weapons in Assassin's Creed 2 felt pretty pointless - I don't think I ever used any of the hammer types.

No kidding. I remember using the hidden blades for almost all of combat because they're just so good, and the counter being an instant kill helped that.

Spears.
Being probably the most widely used weapon EVER in real life, it's odd that spears haven't made a nice jump into the videogames side. Last game I remember using a spear in was Diablo 2. Spears didn't even show up in Dragon Age.
well the thing about spears is they arnt as sexy as swords and they are only good if you use them in a group, a platoon of spearmen will fuck up swordsmen but one on one the swordsman should be able to kill a guy who has a spear every time since once you get past the point all you have is a stick
