Every protagonist of every Final Fantasy game. Also Kratos, Hawke(Dragon Age 2), Dante(Dante's Inferno), and Master Chief
Fenix should leave the cogs (or whatever its called) and join the angry marines he fould fit in perfectly.Wanderer787 said:Fenix feels emotion, it's just all anger all the time. Which is part of the reason I won't be getting Gears 3.Corax_1990 said:I know thats supposed to be his thing, the brooding hero, but he never displays a single iota of emotion.
On topic, I really didn't like Alex Denton as a character. That was Invisible War's main drawback for me when I first played it, having not played the first at the time. And for the record, Invisible War wasn't a bad game, it just had the misfortune to be made after the first Deus Ex.
Because nobody wants to play a game where you can gallivant around the globe fucking everything in sight you like the look of and mercilessly gunning down everything else with an accompaniment of suave one-liners.Chronologist said:Every Fable protagonist forever sucks. Why won't they make a game where you can play as Reaver?
I honestly really liked Marcus Fenix; I think saying he's emotionless is a really unfair criticism after Gears 3. He seemed really desperate and upset during those brilliant scenes at the end of Acts 3 and 5, and then he completely unloads all his built-up rage on that Griffin guy sometime in Act 4.Corax_1990 said:So having just finished Gears 3 I found myself watching the end cut scene and thinking to myself 'Marcus Fenix is as likeable and charasmatic as a damp sponge', I know thats supposed to be his thing, the brooding hero, but he never displays a single iota of emotion. This is in a game where even Baird actually has a second where he isnt being a sarcastic dick. I found myself liking the supporting cast more than the main guy. .
So my question is this, have you ever played a game where you end up liking a supporting character more than the lead?
It's because he is written like a normal guy who goes on whacky adventures. All of those other people are assassins, soldiers and the like, so it's to be expected from them. I hate him for other reasons though...drummond13 said:Geez, am I the only one who doesn't think Nathan Drake's a bad character?
And don't give me that "mass murderer" BS that Yahtzee started; he's no more a mass murder than Sam Fisher, Lara Croft, Jim Raynor, Number 47, Captain Price, and dozens of other characters are. I don't see why he's the only one that gets slapped with that title.
Really? That's kinda funny. I thought the cast of Reach was GREAT, but then again I am one of the few people that finds the Chief to be a very good character...Shinobi720 said:I don't know if I agree to that. I didn't mind Mickey, but I did like Dutch and Buck. I absolutely hated the Sniper and whatever the name of the character Tricia Helfur voiced. I disliked the entire cast of Halo: Reach even more. To me, that game did the impossible by creating a bunch of Master Chief clones that were even duller than the Master Chief ever was. I can't harp on Noble Six too much, because he's basically a representation of the player.MrDeckard said:snippy
I feel like I'm the only person on Earth who actually liked Raiden... he was just cool to me. I actually prefer him to Snake *ducks thrown bottle*Shinobi720 said:Also, when it comes to unlikable protagonists, few can compare to this ****.

I guess I just don't see it that way. Lara Croft isn't exactly a soldier, but even letting that go for a moment Nathan Drake is a guy who looks for treasure, gets shot at, and then shoots back at the people trying to kill him. I don't see this as an amoral act on his part, whether he's a soldier or no. Certainly no less moral than the actions of Number 47 who, despite actually BEING a mass murderer, doesn't seem to bother anybody.MrDeckard said:It's because he is written like a normal guy who goes on whacky adventures.
