I totally agree! I loved seeing the German perspective in some movies like Downfall and Das Boot. It would be quite a dramatic story arc if a game took place in the closing days of World War II, ending with the doomed defense of Berlin.Pedro The Hutt said:How about one told from the perspective of the Germans? It could make for a compelling story when done right. I mean, the average footsoldier was hardly evil, you didn't have much choice in joining the army if you were an able bodied young man.
This... Croatia set up one of the largest Nazi concentration camps during that period killing millions of Serbs/Jews/Gypsies. Although Serbia was crushed by the Nazis quickly, the guerrilla resistance that followed is very inspiring.Rabish Bini said:How about we have a game about the Yugoslav wars?
YAY Someone has their facts right!! Polish Cavalry was actually used very effectively against the invading German infantry.Littlee300 said:During the German Invasion of Poland in 1939, there is no evidence of Polish Cavalry mounting a brave but futile charge against German tanks using lances and sabres. This seems to have its origins in German propaganda efforts following the Charge at Krojanty in which a Polish cavalry brigade surprised German infantry in the open and charged with sabres until driven off by armoured cars. While Polish cavalry still carried the sabre for such opportunities, they were trained to fight as highly mobile, dismounted infantry and issued with light anti-tank weaponsValagetti said:Apparently the last calvery charge ever was by the Polish, towards a MG42 thats mowed them all down, in 1939. And alot or nasty shit happened in China as well. Hmm, what about the bombing of Dunkirk?
THAT IS THE BEST SPINOFF POSSIBLE.LobsterFeng said:How about back in the U.S. where the women were making weapons. It would be like Cooking Mama, only with tanks!
There was a recent article on Cracked about how New Zealand tried to build their own tanks in case the Japanese reached them during WWII. They looked pretty hilarious.creationis apostate said:but if done well, they could. It could be truly fantastic, like the effect of COD1.Soviet Heavy said:Because we'd have the same problem as we do with World War 2 games. Everything would be about the Somme or Trench Warfare in general. They'd probably never go into detail about the evolution of tanks, or the Armenian Genocide.creationis apostate said:I have a better question. Why no World War 1 games?
Also, we need some New Zealanders. The gallipoli campaign is gold for something along the lines of a COD game.
That and the Australian defense was ridiculously suicidal, they sat in the trenches even after some of them had been run over by passing tanks until they were ordered to fire on the tanks from behind. Although attacking tanks from behind was a common practice for anti-axis forces since the German tanks were 3 times more heavily armored in the front than other tanks, I doubt the German's expected soldiers to hide in dugouts and die from being crushed before they ever dared to show themselves.LetalisK said:To be fair, a large reason that blitzkrieg failed was because of the crippling lack of adequate support ironically caused from its great success in previous missions.Azahul said:As far as WWII settings go, I'd be intrigued by a game about the Siege of Tobruk. 240 days of desert warfare and siege, the first time the Blitzkrieg was actually brought to a complete stop. The Australian 9th Division was ordered to hold the town for eight weeks, they held it for five months until the German forces were driven off by Allied reinforcements.
A game, perhaps that has a multitude of endings depending on what you did? Where your choices in battle have a sort of butterfly effect on the outcome of the war. So you could fight for germany and bring glory to the reich, or participate in operation valkyrie or turn as a double agent and help win the war for the allies.open trap said:How about Norway? The germans took controll of Norway and this was a bit of fighting for it, resulting in a loss for the allies. There is also the winter war which could actually make for a few very exciting missions if you add a little CoD exageration. What about a game that covers both fronts entirely from the German perspective? And doesnt end in Berlin! There are alot of possabilities.
My grandfather was born and raised in the northern Chinese province of Manchuria. He was in the military around the time the Japanese invaded and Emperor Puyi was their puppet. He also fought against Mao Tse-Tung before leaving China for Taiwan with the rest of the nationalists. As it's a large part of my cultural background and family history, I wouldn't mind such a game that would help put into perspective what my grandfather went through.jovack22 said:Japan ruthlessly invaded and massacred the Chinese.
