Does anyone have any idea what THIS is about? What's the point of playing a game where you can just fix all your problems (AND get infinite money!) at the press of a button? Am I missing something?and even the mention of a "Character Booster", which will "increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum" when you're in a pinch.
No, no, I GET it. I understand that it won't make me feel the same way I felt the first time I played it. Shit, I was only 12 when it came out. I thought lots of other stupid shit was great, too (not that I think FF7 is stupid, but perhaps not deserving of the pedestal I once placed it on).viranimus said:Snake Plissken said:What's the deal with SquareEnix and their fear of money? All they need to do is a couple of the PS1 Final Fantasy games with an HD remake, and they'd be set for the next few eternities. I am highly confused by their denial and how standoffish they are about this ordeal every time a new rumor pops up.
I dont think its fear of money. I think it is sound decision because if they do remake one of the single most over hyped and beloved games from their entire history they know its more likely to spark outrage than adoration because people will feel betrayed because their vision through nostalgia goggles was not adhered to.
Same is true of Xenogears. There is definitely a crowd who wants it, but because its high pedestal the outrage would be horrendous.
Granted SE knows how to generate aggro, but they are smart enough to try to avoid it where the can.
It'll most likely have some sort of cooldown timer on it. I finished FF8 without having to resort to cheats, things like that are there are for people who aren't very good at games.busterkeatonrules said:Does anyone have any idea what THIS is about? I wouldn't hold my breath on that.gigastar said:Ok... Maybe ill finally be able to dig into why so many people think Final Fantasy is so great.
Final Fantasy 7 is not one of them. There are a lot of things that remain great about that game. Graphics, not so much. Final Fantasy 7 comes from the early days of 3D graphics that made one really appreciate the beauty of good 2D graphics. The character models(particularly out of combat) looked pretty awful. On top of that, the PC version is in particular need of some love because it didn't even include the original soundtrack, but rather "featured" a MIDI version that is rather painful to listen to.Monsterfurby said:Of course, had to be a hoax, no doubt about it.

Well, let's hope it's a re-release of the original game made to work on Win7, not a bloody HD-remake people seem to be clamoring for. Some classics are better left alone.
The thing about RPGs is, that gamers generally know those games are huge timesinks. They're designed to be that way. No one would play one that only lasted 6 hours.animehermit said:Or people who don't have the time to spend 200 hours grinding to be able to beat a game.
Was that the elite type game set on Titan with the solar powered aircraft?Zer0Saber said:I played the PC version of final fantasy VII back on my old Win 98. Oh yeah, 2 GB of hard drive space, the majesty of it. It's such a pain in the ass to play old PC games, so good for steam if they patch it up some. I'm just pissed I can't get Freespace to work. I just want to ask since I'm being nostalgic about old PC games, anyone out there ever play Hardwar. Never met anyone who has, it's still a favorite.
Not only that, but unless you just absolutely have to beat the Weapons, there is no reason to grind in Final Fantasy VII. This is quite possibly the easiest Final Fantasy out there.008Zulu said:The thing about RPGs is, that gamers generally know those games are huge timesinks. They're designed to be that way. JezWilkinson said:A new website registered to Square Enix has leaked details of a possible PC rerelease of Final Fantasy VII.
The news comes after denials [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101019-Final-Fantasy-VII-Remake-Pushed-Even-Further-From-Possibility] that a remake is currently in development.
A price of £7.99/€9.99 (about $12.50) was listed on the site
It's really not hard to tell. For crying out loud, the leaked price is only £7.99! The graphical rework of Halo: Combat Evolved sold at the same price as a new AAA title, and that was a far shorter game!it's hard to tell at the moment whether this would be a full HD rework or an enhanced rerelease of the 1998 PC edition.
It had a PC release, and you can still track down copies on ebay.mParadox said:I want to buy it. I have to buy it!
The lack of a console in yester years meant no Final Fantasy for me. And people keep on squeeing over how 'perfect' and 'fun' it is. Makes me feel left out. 3:
