Something to add another level of bizarreness to this event;

The death of Michael Jackson was announced at my prom.
Yeah.
Then the DJ put on Thriller and everyone was happy again. Life goes on.

I wonder what he will be remembered for? His music... Or touching on little kids...

I would care, but I don't. Sad to say, but good riddance.

I will be one of the few here that would say -

I absolutly loved Micheal Jackon, he was a fantastic singer who made some great songs. His upbringing as a child wasn't the best and I have sympathy for him like I would anyone in that possition. You must all also remember this is also news about a father of 3 dieing.
I'm sure allot of you will like many bands that he's also influenced into music with his own.
News of his death was absolutly tragic and if you can't realize this even if you're not a fan, then you are wierd.

R.I.P Moonwalker. You were awesome.

Child molestation... hmmmph.

It always seemed strange to me...

...if that kid really had been sexually molested the parents would surely have wanted justice through a sentence, not an out of court cash handout.

The 1993 court eventually threw the case out because there was no evidence. Jordan Chanler refused to testify but his parents dropped the case after getting 22 million from Jackson's estate.

The 2005 Jury in the arviso case found Jackson NOT GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES.

It has NEVER been proven that he was a child molester. NEVER.

It's a dangerous word when unproved accusations become fact in peoples' minds.

Regardless of what people may think about Michael, nobody can deny the impact he's made to pop culture and music. In his prime, he was second only to Elvis Presley in fame not only in the United States, but around the world. Godspeed, Michael.

Not only this fellow influenced the music industry many times over, he actually managed to lead an enjoyable boy band, which is a feat all on its own.

Hell of a composer, singer and dancer, monstrously talented.

Let him be a lesson to ALL parents who happen to breed a talented child. Let them be children first and talented human beings second.

He never was convicted for sex crimes against children. Every case was settled out of court which tells me the shit was a lie. If some dude was feeling up my children, no money could make that go away, that bastard would rot in jail.

I can't say that I will "miss" him because he wasn't really in my generation, but he was still popular when I was a kid. I guess you could say his popularity was on it's way out. Like everyone else, I didn't expect him to die anytime soon. It's more shocking than anything.
First case was settled out of court, the second one he was found not guily on all charges.

Those kids' parents are evil cunts who have undermined and disrespected real rape victims all over the world.

More interested in people dying for freedom in Iran than this right now.
That shows, you posting here instead of some topic about Iran elsewhere (pretty important topic, though).

Yes, because one can only post in a single topic and forum on the internet.

In light of the fact that I've just received my first misdemeanor for flaming the King of Pop immediately following his passing, I should probably clear this up:

I wasn't around during the height of his career when he released all the classics we listen to today without knowing of their origin or to which artist we owe the pleasure to.
Therefore, the most distinguishing feature of his life to me became the charges of child molestation placed upon him and the resulting media circus surrounding it.
I was mostly indifferent to his death until I saw an ABC special chronicling his life that night. I developed a greater appreciation for his talents and, at least, for the glory days of his career. I even somewhat empathized with him, odd as he was both physically and mentally, for his description of how badly he had been victimized by the media- an experience not at all uncommon among celebrities today.
For the past few days, almost every channel on the airwaves (or DTV digital stream, however it works) has been airing his music videos, and seeing so many of them, I wish I'd known of and appreciated more of his achivements, while he was live, rather than the occasional shortcoming.
