Yeah lord knows being the second largest video game franchise in the entire world isn't enough to suggest that you are clutching at a minority opinion there.imaloony said:This improved my opinion of these starters (Except the fire one, who looks stupid regardless), but I still think the game will stink. The last good pokemon game IMO was Emerald. The last REALLY good pokemon game was Crystal. I think the series has had its day and is now killing time between now and when Nintendo finally stops caring about it.
I support your opinion in the beginning, but that last thought is pretty much a flop given the reality. I suspect pokemon will be around for much longer than just about any "better" video game series and will make much more in that time.
Probably because the balancing is well done and the species spread makes sense. I don't "get" a lot of the new monsters from time to time but most of the complaints I have are entirely the same as nearly everyone elses complaints, entirely motivated by nostalgia.
That said, I'd love to see changes, but most games have shown me that change rarely means better. It tends to mean stripped functionality, less variation, and less content. The fact that Pokemon hasn't changed dramatically at any one installment likely has to do with them being smarter than their competitors who produce a flop in hopes of "mixing it up."
If you want to mix things up, start a new franchise. That way I can go "well this isn't too bad of a game" instead of "This is terrible compared to the first one."
Just my thoughts, much like yours were just your thoughts .
First...come on naw...Makuhita is a surfing sumo wrestler. How is that not great?CheesusCrust said:Gahh...these are terrible, especially the pig, they've already based pokemon on fat guys e.g. Makuhita and Snorlax.
How does the otter change from a slightly bigger otter into some sea unicorn?
Secondly...how does X turn into Y?
The same way a small weak fish turns into a big strong dragon.
or a small ugly fish turns into a big pretty dragon.
Or a worm with a clown nose turns into a dragon.
Or the same way 3 of a pokemon sticking to one another makes a new pokemon.
the same way one pokemon can spontaneously go from 2 arms to 4, or from 4 arms to 2.
or sprout a third head.
or change from a fluffy sheep into an electric alien thing
or from a pupa thing into a rock dragon godzilla monster who kicked ass in junior high.
the same way a little fleshy springy thing can convert into a bipedal pig.
Kudos to people who know what all these are without having to look. You are probably at that point where I am where you say "The things I could have spent all that time on."
