Updated: Modern Warfare 2's Ridiculous Prestige Edition

This is great, I remember back in the day when you'd be lucky to get a damn poster with your game, now we're getting a sculpted head? Goggles? Artwork book and metal cased game? This is sweet, and I'm totally picking it up.

If it's under 250 bucks, that is.

It's probably going to be over $100. If those things are as quality as he makes them sound, they probably cost a pretty penny to produce.
And thats just talking about the NVG's.

Really, the only reason I'm interested is because, unfortunately, I want to re-enact the climax of Silence of the Lambs in my home.

Seriously, though, this is nuts... it'll be pretty sweet if the goggles are actually decent, I guess. I don't plan on buying any version of the game though...

And on a side-note, how interesting can an art book for a realistic military game be? I could just go look at photos from Iraq or something.

since when has gaming been necesary. And seeing how many people just from this forum say they mite buy it it looks like activisions gonna sell thisoff very well. And mabe when the story comes in saying its a peice of crap NVG, theyll take i off the market.

If the goggles aren't a cheap piece of garbage (which I have a nagging feeling that they are), I'd buy the game, keep the goggles and give the mediocre game to someone else.

And i think that many people are gonna argue with you that this is hardly going to be a mediocre game.

Halo 3's MC's helmet at least looks good for display, these aren't worth using since they're 100% likely to be too cheap (quality) to enjoy using them, unless this collector's edition is a couple grand.

But, I have to wonder about special edition artbooks. The ones for Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Modern Warfare 2, evidently, are kind of paltry. I remember the artbooks for Age of Empires 3 and Warcraft 3. Those were epic, and definitely worth several read-throughs. Anyways, it doesn't matter, as I suspect that I'll just get the regular edition. Save my collector's edition money for Dragon Age: Origins.

Can't comment on their cost in specific. But I know from my Navy days that good night vision goggles runs a couple grand and the pair I used crossing the Panama Canal were only single mode.

I like how everyone markets Infrared Goggles as "Night Vison". Not to mention that you can make your own infrared "night vision" goggles for around $20. Also, I hope Soap McTavish doesn't really look like that, because based on that head, he looks like a tool.

That is indeed fucking ridiculous. I would get it but I have a feeling it will be a bit above my price range. I'll probably atleast be getting the Hardened edition.

They can argue all they want, but if it's anything like it's predecessor, then it's going to be another mediocre overrated POS of a game. No amount of disputing will make me think otherwise.

really guys you are nuts for thinkin its going to be a decent pair of goggles! If they were ACTUALLY good and cost a couple thousand, wouldn't you want to DECIDE which brand and type to get? If I had 2 grand laying around AND wanted MW2, Id get normal collectors edition and get to actually PICK how I spend my $2000 instead of letting infinity ward do it for me.
