It's not really a bothering trend, but more of an annoyance.
I go into my regular stores to buy jeans, same size that I would be wearing so I know that
they fit, but they are a lot tighter because the trend forces companies to adjust their clothing
because of that "Skinny Jeans" look. Even the ones that are called "baggy" are more bell-bottom types.
I don't want to switch to wearing sweatpants only just because of a style...

How upper middle class white people (it's all races. But you get my point) are acting like they're the champions of anyone who isn't a white millionaire.

Anarchists. Not the "in some ways it's a decent idea" people. I'm talking the "fuck the system. Be FREEEEEEE !!!!!!!!" crowd.

How the people that are loudest in their support of something always seem to be the least educated on it. Look at things like evocation or abortion. Ere are valid stances on both sides of most issues, yet the people you'll meet 99% of e time on issues like abortions are the "it's MURDER !!! And it promotes sex outside of marriage" or with evolution it's the "it's only a theory. A theory by Satan" people. Meanwhile, the far more intelligent and knowledgable people are hurried beneath all of it.

How black-and-white issues are coming. There's no real chance to be moderate, you can either be pro-affirmative action or your a horrible racist monster, you can either be a bible bashing Christian or your the devil who's trying to destroy society, your either a liberal or a democrat.

Then there is the annoying habit of people throwing respect to the dead, regardless of whether they deserved it or not. I know that speaking ill of the dead is in poor taste, but glorifying them undeservedly is just as bad. Take Steve Jobs for example. I won't piss on his grave, but I disliked him as he lived, so I'm not going to be shouting about what a great man he is.
Sir, I couldn't agree more! I noticed this especially after Michael Jackson died. Days before, he was a creepy pedophile. Then he dies and suddenly, he's only known as the King of Pop again. Dying does not make someone better. If they are douche-bags alive, they just become dead-douche-bags. Very few people agree with me.
Every January issue Mad magazine has a special "20 dumbest people events and things of [previous year]". Guess what they put as number 1 for 2009.

(Only size I could find, sorry)
Quite interesting! I really should start reading MAD, I've always wanted to but just never got around to it. Thank you Father Time for your contribution. May I ask, what is your opinion on this subject?

Just to be fair, Micheal Jackson was not convicted of paedophilia so please don't call him one. Innocent until prove guilty and all that good stuff. But I still agree with your point :p
My apologies, I never meant to insinuate that he was an actual pedophile, I just meant that whilst alive, he was not the most... idyllic role model around.

the whole fact that I can't say "MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS"
now I have to say happy holidays 'cause if not some none christian will get offended? Well great logic, I say; I get offended when you say happy holidays because to me its more than a holiday!

another one that really gets to me is people who define your popularity/sociability based on how many facebook friends you have. Really that's what we've come to, I'm glad I don't have a FB it gets more conversation going than the people that do

One trend I find quite disturbing is the growing right-wing mindset I'm seeing on The Escapist... especially in the younger posters.
*Spittake* WHAT!? Right-wingers!? Here!? On the Escapist!? Where!?
Right here. >.>

IM not saying religious people are being discriminated against, just its tiring to see the constant fighting and demonizing of religion as more and more young people say they're atheist without really grasping the concept of what it truly means.
...Atheist means you don't believe in a god. Thats it. Why would you think people who say they are atheist don't really understand that?

OT: Social trends that bug me:
The view that Atheism is a religion. Its not. There does not need to be atheist organisations, atheist movements, atheists anythings. If you don't believe in something, fine. Don't believe in it. If you do believe in something, you go ahead and believe in it.
Religious debates. If you wants to believe x y z, then you may do so, but why why WHY must you insist upon shoving it down everyone elses throats as well.
Political correctness. Aka People being offended on behalf of a group of other people that a statement relates to (brainstorming = offensive to epiletics how???)
Racism/Patriotism confusion. I am not being racist by waving my national flag. I am being patriotic. I am not being racist by speaking the native language of my country. Just shut up already.

this huge, almost overnight explosion of dubstep.
i get that people like different kinds of music, and i can deal with that, but i just really dont understand dubstep in general. to me it sounds like various random sounds, small music bits, and electronic loops broken up, slowed down, or interrupted by acoustic warbling. i get why it might be nice for certain specific situations like in clubs or in movie/game trailers, but why do people listen to this stuff like they would anything else?
i'm not gonna go as far to say it isn't music, but i will say that it's BAD music. all of it.

I have never, ever, EVER had this problem.

Not hard to find right-wing beliefs, even if you don't explicitly see right-wingers.

He had some good songs and some really good songs and I think the title "king of pop" is well deserved. Thing is, he wasn't making any more good songs when he died so I don't think it's a terrible loss.

...That sounds mean. What I mean is it's bad that he died but I think all of his musical greatness has been tapped out or something so it's weird that people acted like he was still in his prime when he died a couple years ago.
I completely understand! I just never understood why people forget about 'all the bad stuff' when people die. It actually makes less sense because it seems like people are more likely to speak ill of someone when they believe it will not make it back to said person.
