What is wrong with that? MACs are Personal Computers as well. Maybe this will take some money from Microsoft.
"Maybe this will take some money from Microsoft" should've been Apple's motto.

Okay valve this PS3 boycott is taking the piss now, am I the only one on this site still wanting to slit gabe newell's throat?.

Anyway I hate steam and its forced digital distribution so the mac port won't help me.
They said they'll probably look into developing for it soon.

OT: "third-party titles will undoubtedly follow suit."

Why?

I wouldn't hold your breath.
If I dont get L4D, I will impale newell on the dublin spire.

Now I need more happy pills.
Ahh, brutal violence.

Is there a problem it can't be applied to as a solution?
Well, when we stand against the argument that videogames cause violence...
Alright maybe that's one instance...

And three cheers to Valve for bringing gaming to a younger, hipper and better dressed audience!

Wait, so you hate the fact that Steam, A DIGITAL GAMES DISTRIBUTOR... distributes games?

Why?

I normally am very anti Mac, but after Halo was ripped away from the Mac community in order to be the new Xbox console's killer app, I have felt a great deal of pity for the Mac gaming community. I am glad that Valve is looking out for them. Finally all those Mac users can get a taste of what they have been missing.

Even though I'm for extending availability of games and this is a step in the right direction, I have one question: why didn't you add Linux compatibility, Valve? The main issue I have with Ubuntu right now is that Steam doesn't seem to work even with Wine, and as an open source fanboy in training I'm sorely disappointed.

I agree. Especially since both OS X and Linux are Unix-like, meaning that code that runs on OS X should run on Linux or at least should be easier to port to Linux.

GOD BLESS YOU, VALVE.

I'm a Macintosh user with a PS3. This news makes me very happy.

can you download modern warfare 2 from steam and on to your mac?
That would require Activision or Infinity Ward to have a Mac version available on Steam. And as such is not in Valve's hands necisarily.

Ok Valve, you're making games for the "thousands" of mac gamers but not for the millions of PS3 gamers? That's just strange.

Well I used to be a Mac user in the nineties up until early 2000s.
But now I'm Windows user with a bit of Linux on the side, and it's more fitting for my economy to build and pirate as I see fit.
Also, to all the people worried about PS3. The fact that the Source engine now should be working under OpenGL makes it not impossible that the PS3 will be on line with 360 when it comes to future releases.

Marvelous, now I can can keep grinding TF2 on my mac when my PC takes the piss.

Though am I sensing this will eventually be implemented in those tarded commercials.

PC- I play more games than you!
Mac - But now I have Steam

I know the said L4D and TF2, Half life, etc..., but did they say anything about a Garry's Mod for Mac? If so that would be awesome!

"They will adhere to the same release schedule" Finally macs get to experience the most flexible
release times and dates just like the rest of us

No matter how much people bash Macs and praise PCs, anything with a windows OS that I spend a good amount of time with tries the hardest possible to prove them wrong.
The incompatibility with steam is the only thing I was feeling a bit reluctant about when switching, but now its not a problem.

You couldn't get steam to work with Wine? That's odd; the linux and ubuntu Wine is typically better than what's available for the Wine for Mac. That just doesn't seem right...
I mean, I fail at anything comptuer-y, but I've been playing TF2 on my Mac without dual-booting for months.

I am a wee tad concerned. As a Windows gamer, if a game runs sluggish for me, I just give my PC a new part, but what about if the game runs a bit naf on Mac?

I think gaming on a Mac would work if you could actually get the individual upgrades*, not an entire new unit.

*Yes, I am aware there are upgrades, but those are straight from Apple. They are not as cheap as they are for the PC.
One could argue that since Macs have a much smaller array of potential hardware configurations it shouldn't be a problem to make sure it works on all of them.
But wouldn't that hold back the more powerful Macs from getting great visuals? You can only optimize an engine so well.
