You still haven't mentioned the name of this "greatest disappointment of all time" that Valve made Dingo. Please, do tell: I'm interested to see what you think it was.

Stop getting confused by the damn analogy.

Before they started working exclusively with Microsoft, Rare had one of the best track records in industry history, having managed to master two genres that were at complete odd ends. They then started working exclusively with Microsoft, and we all know the rest of the story. Valve are now saying they will work exclusively with Microsoft.
You don't think that Rare's fall from grace had anything to do with the fact that most of their titles star cute, fuzzy mascots which gamers have been shying away from for the last console generation? Since Valve focuses on adult-oriented titles, they aren't as likely to have that problem.
Their last great game was one giant subversion of the cute and fuzzy stereotype, featuring a squirrel who was a drunk, a womaniser, a pill-popper and swore like a one-eyed carpenter. He was surrounded by a junkie scarecrow, a busty sunflower, dung beetles, a singing piece of crap, and so many other family unfriendly characters. Rare could easily work around cute and fuzzy. Their quality drop had nothing to do with that.
They've been playing the juvenile Conker shtick since the N64 days. It was edgy back then, but not so much nowadays. My argument is that they don't have the same vision that they did back in the day for what gamers want.

Let's see: Microsoft releases a broken product for way too much money, doesn't support it, then a short time later releases a new product that works the way the first product should have and expects you to buy it again. Valve releases an incredibly brief game, doesn't support it, then a short time later releas... WAIT A MINUTE!
OH SHI-

I think you're on to something. No wonder I saw a similarity.

Regardless of the Valve-Microsoft connection, Gabe Newell certainly isn't an idiot for divesting from what's basically the new Sega Saturn for Sony.

What a bunch of crap. I know L4D had a major backing and gamers were hungry for more, lots more. The formula worked, and it would have been easier to expand the game than rebuild it. I dont forsee L4D2 doing any better than its predecessor. In fact I reasonably see a major dive in quality from a visual, audio and gameplay standpoint. I back this up because 1) Gabe Newell is a cheeseburger chomping, donut munching pud pulling fat lazy f$*k, 2) Valve's dev team is so deep in Microsofts pocket its almost disgusting. And I do not say these things because I am a PS3 fan. I own both consoles and a majority of my games are on the 360/PC platform with 3 or 4 for my PS3, all exclusives. Look, Valve is an example of a lazy dev team, who have members that know how to code the PS3, and Valve even has Dev kits given to them by Sony. It is their fault for the money they are losing from the PS3 exclusive fanbase, and it will end up being their undoing when the Xbox is in next-gen limbo with the Xbox 720, and the PS3 still chugging along with great content. On top of that, I remain a little worried about Microsofts exclusives for 2009-2010, Halo ODST? Sorry im sick of Halo, the series is played out. How about some original IP's M$? And don't give me that Gears 3 crap because I know you are in negotiations to extend your exclusivity deal with EPIC!!!

I hate how people are pissed because of a game of all things. There are so many worse things to be pissed off at and they choose a FUCKING VIDEO GAME!
Yes, there are so many worse things to be pissed about... for instance, being pissed at people for being pissed about a video game. That's a much more constructive use of time. Way to choose your battles. *eye roll*

Also, left 4 dead 2 boycott group 22,944 members strong and growing, yes we're all retarded and have absolutely no business sense.

Shhhhh, part of the reason its so cool to hate the PS3 is keeping the illusion that it doesn't have any good games. If people were to find out there were actually decent titles on the console, who knows what would happen? Perhaps then people would pretend to hate it for the price, even though they're willing to subscribe to a 30$-50$ a year service which allows them to play online.

Anyone who played impossible creatures when microsoft shut down the online server has good reason to hate or at least be distrustful of them.

The Atari Jaguar of this generation? Which it is, in terms of the crossbreeding of technology and being stupidly hard to program for which is exactly why Valve refuses to waste their time with it. Complicated does not equal better.

And speaking of "better", that's really a subjective term and considering the source here, can we really believe the PS3 has better games than the 360? Seeing as how I know a grand total of zero people who own a PS3, clearly the exclusives it has do not justify the price tag well enough. And yes, I know what the exclusives are, and no, I still don't want a PS3.

Of course I know I might as well be talking to a wall here. A wall that accused Valve of stealing from Killzone.

As a PS3 owner, it's somewhat annoying that Gabe Newell is so inept and afraid of new technology. But, then again, as an owner of a gaming PC that stomps the piss out of the 'current gen' consoles, it's most amusing to download Valve's garbage, play it for free and delete it. Win win for me. Lose lose for Valve.
As a PC owner, it's somewhat annoying that you are so inept and afraid of anything that isn't running on the "newest" technology. It's most amusing to listen to you act like your ego actually gives you credibility, take your words, twist them around, and force you to choke on them. Win-win for me. Lose-Lose for nobody but you because you can't accept the fact that Valve decided it didn't want to bother programming for the PS3 anymore after the first time around didn't go well. Apparently company decisions to save them money and time are bad if they aren't for your precious little Blu-Ray player.

Actually, I agree with them. Have we actually heard of a time when they've screwed us over?

I mean, Activision have screwed us with Brutal Legend, EA has screwed us with DRM, and I'm sure many people will come up with many different stories about different companies. But nothing on Microsoft. Maybe because it's (or used to be) run by the richest man on Earth?

I think that some people are forgetting that there are legit ways to earn money.
