Don't you think its bullshit you payed $50 for a game that was promised updates and DLC (like TF2) and instead to hear the sequel would be out first?
I got $50 of fun out the original L4D... How many hours do you have to play a game before it's worth $50?
Cable costs $50 a month... how many hours a month do you watch TV?
DVDs cost $15 each... 2 hours of fun is what you get out of that.
A book costs $7... how many hours does it take to read a good book?
How much fun is $50 worth? At what point do you get good value for your $50? After 5 hours of fun? 10 hours of fun? 50 hours of fun?
I find it sick that there are still bugs and the same fucking campaign over and over and over and over. It's like I paid for some great graphicked generic zombie game.
I still find L4D fun... I still play with my friends once a week (monday night is zombie night), and I occasionally jump on a quick versus game with strangers...
So boycotters are saying that L4D was a rip-off? It wasn't worth $50? and wasn't much fun??
That's a valid point of view... They shouldn't buy L4D2 then... I don't usually see or buy the sequels of crappy movies either. I don't start huge internet groups telling other people not to buy or see a sequel though...
Why are you guys so angry about this? You bought a game, didn't like it... the company is coming out with a sequel.... so don't buy it...
It's a freaking game... Get over yourselves...
First of all, I didn't start the group, I joined it at 10k members. And we are bitching together because we have felt an injustice. Why don't you turn your rage on something that actually needs to be put down, like Mormons, Scientology, and rapists. Isn't there a better cause for you to focus on than a bunch of boycotters who think they bought a half-finished game?
Am I the only one seeing this as Valve's huge mistake? Release the SAME GAME only actually UPDATED 1 year later for the same price. I mean TF2 has been out forever and it is getting so much free updates, its crazy. I feel that Valve is slowly turning into EA by just associating themselves with them. I mean you have to BUY THE GAME FOR THE DEMO. Who the fuck does that?
It's this complete disregard for the first L4D that started this whole boycott. It's like they saw it as a lost cause and decided to scrap improving it just so they could rebuilt the same game with slightly better stuff and pump it into the gaming market. I don't want to feel like a Madden fan being ripped off every year because the latest game has the roster updates and some tweaked features.
$50 is a lot of money. I don't care who you are, $50 is a shit ton of money. I don't buy cable, I don't buy DVDs. I do buy books but thats just because only social inept people read book on computers. I pay $40 a month for internet and thats my only real bill besides cellphone.
I did play L4D since the day it came out until early summer of '09 though. That's ~5 months of me playing the SAME thing over and over. When I realized that there was nothing new coming and that instead a sequel would be released in LESS THAN A YEAR (by one day
) I was pissed. Half-assed SDK, same gameplay no matter what campaign or if it was versus or coop, it was the same thing. Only 8 weapons? Including dual wielding pistols? That's bullshit. Now they come out saying "New guns! New infected! Melee weapons!" Holy shit! Really? All the things we should have gotten in the first place?
And don't go onto my steam page and say "Dude you've only played 7 games." Because the system wasn't implemented until mid '09. I literally played more than sleep and work combined. Me and Hex-Rei freakin' carved out every strategy in the game WHEN IT CAME OUT. I built a lot of the L4D wiki WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT.
L4D was not worth $50. It was worth ~$30. It doesn't take a time limit to say how good a game is. It takes you looking back and seeing if you regret spending that much time on a video game, and I do regret L4D. A $10 book is worth more than L4D, it lasts longer and has more diversity.
I'm not going to tell you not to buy whatever you want, I'm just telling you my opinion. I tolerate your opinion but as soon as you mock me for my beliefs, that is an asshole move. I come up with decent arguments for why I shouldn't buy it and why I think its a rip off and everyone else comes around to troll it because they love the game. That's fine. I'm not attacking you. I'm attacking the game. And if its just a game to you, why can't you let me bicker about it?
