I think a 15-20 minute short would be much better than a full movie - that would probably really break the bank anyway.

I have copy of "The Orange Box" around but have never played "Team Fortress 2" since I'm not really into online deathmatch shooters. That said as far as I understood things Team Fortress 2 has no real plotline, world setting, or anything else. It's entirely geared around being a competitive arena shooter and being mindless despite the characterization coming from shorts and voicework and such.

As such, what kind of a plotline would you give a Team Fortress movie when you have more or less identical guys of the same class pounding the living daylights out of each other for points and such?

Games don't nessicarly need a plot (depending on the type) but making movies based on stuff like that... well I can't see it.

HOWEVER I suppose in the end they could use the same art and voice actors and nobody could get on their case afterwards for saying it didn't follow the storyline of the game closely enough. :)

I don't think it could be a full-length movie. Maybe something thirty minutes long or so.

They should seriously ditch the movie idea and pitch it as a short 12 minute cartoon to the likes of Adult Swim. That is not only the perfect place for a show like this, but the niche market of the nerdy late night cartoon watchers is about right for them as well. This would be about as perfect as possible.
Adult Swim wouldn't want it by any stretch of the imagination, they're too busy running "quality" comedy like Tim & Eric and Xavier: Renegade Angel. And I said all of that with sarcasm so heavy it could flatten a house.
The fact that they continue to support Venture Bros. and Superjail makes them OK in my book. I mean, you don't have to watch ALL of their shows.

And to be honest, I kind of liked Tim & Eric. They tried something that was different from the other shows, IE not bombarding you with millions of pop culture references. Unfortunately, it was put together very poorly. The type of humor they used worked much better in Tom Goes to the Mayor (which again is another show that I liked that I found many others didn't). Of course, I could talk for far to long about these two shows, but I shan't because I'll TRY to stay on topic.

If you wish to eschew the television market, there is still no reason they can't do similar to Meet The X and just post the episodes online. Heck, play anytime will probably reach a wider audience, and I'd pay two dollars an episode to see it.

Just adding another year or so to the development of Episode 3 :(

Along with Left 4 Dead 2 which probably added ANOTHER year to Episode 3

I'd love to see this happen. But I can't think of what the actual story would be like... Maybe we'd see the person behind the voice. Y'know, that ladies voice that says "Our control point is being contested!?"
GLaDOS? (It's the same voice actor...)

Ellen Mclain [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_McLain], also known for her work as GlaDOS and the Combine Overwatch.

Also stone bonkers if you listen to the developers commentary. ;)

It would probably be Quarantino meets Pixar and it could turn out to be awesome. Valve already has a rather large fanbase that is bound to see it. So it could be a commercial succes as well. I'm confident that Valve could come up with a decent plot, interesting characters and all else that is necessary for a good movie. They did it with Half-Life 2 and the episodes after all.

I don't know if it would work, unless it has an absolutely hilarious cat and mouse soundtrack. With the scout being killed every 30 seconds. Actually 15.....10.

Initial confusion gone, replaced with sense of optimism and joy. If it's like the "meet the" videos I'm all for it.

A movie would be awesome but a bunch of 30 minute videos would be better.

Anyway, I hope they do something as awesome as Meet The Spy.
