If only there was a group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Team-Fortress-2-Group-PC] with it's own servers for Escapists to play on...

It's a damn shame that no-one is ever on the damned server. (The alpha server, not the UK, I don't generally have good ping with servers across the ocean.)

At least not when I check...

The UK server is always empty whenever I'm on as well, and I live in the UK!

Hopefully this news could spark some life back into the servers!

OT: Good news all round methinks, F2P for the week after exams finish means I can play with my girlfriend without having to persuade her to buy it!

The game has been changed beyond all recognition and the only way you can get the extra weapons is simply by playing for a long time and pure luck.
It's become so difficult for people just coming into the game and for those of us that haven't played it for a while. It's not fun any more because you just get destroyed by some guy who plays the game 40 hours a week who has all the weapons.

Which is why most of the professionals still use the vanilla weapons because they're mostly better.

The only real change is the Demoknights - everything else is situational. Especially for Pyros/Spy/Heavy/Medic. They simply play best with vanilla.

I'm a TF2 player but I don't think of all these updates as "Valve giving me love". I hate that they constantly have to make a fun game more and more complicated and I hate that I can't stop playing for a few months, come back and not have to worry about new weapons and how to counter them.

The violin sound got patched in, it makes a deeper sound and resembles some other instrument that I can't quite put my finger on and frankly... having to hit four times to get an uber is too good to pass up

Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed TF2 for a while but even though its only 10 bucks or something equally cheap, I couldnt justify a purchase again. Liked it when it came out, played it for a while on xbox, and im done with it now.

(inb4 omg u played on xbox lol pc masterrace u mad, shut up, I didnt have a good pc back then so I had no choice)

I'd encourage you to get it on PC. It's such a bigger and better game with all of the updates they've added and AFAIK the consoles didn't get any of the updates because Valve got mad at Microsoft and Sony. Plus there's a ridiculous number of maps with new ones made all the time, and a few custom game types - WarioWare is awesomely fun, and there's also Prop Hunt which is a fantastic time. Honestly for the sheer amount of game you get with the purchase I think it's worth $50. It's definitely worth $10 and a second look.

And before anyone else says "lol hatz ruined TF2" - you're grossly over-exaggerating, or you're playing on really crappy servers.

Well of the measly 7 hours I've clocked up on the PC version of TF2, I can safely say that at least 5 of them were playing as the medic. I can't wait.
