Don't worry I will, I'm still earning my degree in Computer Science. Two more years to go, and before you say that to me. Now go and get an employment at Valve, then you yourself can teach them how to do it, or wait. You don't know it either, now do you?
I have gone on several rants about this subject, so here's my rebuttal against this;squid5580 said:Am I the only one who wants exclusives for the other system (in my case PS3). Here is my logic. I could buy a PS3 now but there aren't enough games that interest me yet. Not enough that I can't get on the 360 and spend the 400 on the games vs the hardware. (No this is not an invitation to list all the "good" exclusives I am well informed on what is on which system). I do want a PS3. I really really do but Sony has to do thier part and make me "need" one. And for that to happen they need exclusives (and ones that perk my interest but that is subjective).
How can you call yourself a gamer if you can't see the value of the other consoles?
Gee I am sorry I thought it was my opinion that decided what games I like or that I am not interested in. I didn't realize we had appointed a gaming Czar to tell us what games were good or bad. I see you quoted but didn't bother to read but I didn't cry that PS3 got Infamous or Killzone or Resistance. Nor am I going we got L4D2 neener neener neener. I am saying there isn't enough titles that are exclusive to the PS3 that appeal to me to justify the purchase right now. Once they start pumping out the titles that have been talked about for years now (and aren't complete failures like Lair) then I will. But 4 games is just not enough to fork out the 400+ when I have a nice library of 360 games (most of which are multi already) to enjoy. Right now the grass is the same color no matter which side I am on.Jumplion said:I have gone on several rants about this subject, so here's my rebuttal against this;squid5580 said:Am I the only one who wants exclusives for the other system (in my case PS3). Don't be a hypocrite.
This happens with many 360 owners, they go "There aren't enough [good] PS3 games for me to buy one!" yet you turn around and beg for all their exclusives. If those exclusives are the reason(s) why you want a PS3, then why are you begging for even less reason(s) to buy a PS3? Oh, of course, the price, well tough noogies, I paid the full $600 for a close to launch PS3 and I don't regret my purchase. Am I begging for Halo 3 or Gears 2 to come to PS3? I hardly see any PS3 owners beg for 360 or PC exclusives, they just deal with what they have.
Here's the blunt truth; either buy the hardware or piss. off. You want some of the PS3 games that are exclusive? Well tough noogies, you have to buy one. Complaining and moaning and wishing that the, allegedly, few reasons to buy a PS3 to go to 360, therefore completely voiding any reason to buy a PS3, isn't going to do anything.
There's this mythical form of business that everyone should be familiar of, but for some reason aren't. It's called saving up. Now, I realize that for some people saving up is more difficult for them than other people, they have other things like food and the elecricity bill and the whore that stole their wallet last time to worry about.
But too bad so sad, either buy the damn hardware or piss the hell off. It may be difficult, but it's your only option.
I want L4D to come to PS3, but knowing VALVe in this very thread, that is highly unlikely to ever happen. My only options are to either buy a 360 just for one game, or upgrade my PC so I'll be able to play L4D on my computer and possibly other games. I don't want a 360, but do you see me complaining and "wishing that PC exclusives will come to PS3"? I hope i don't do that, no you don't see me do that.
I'm not trying to be mean or seem like an asshole, but here's your only solution to ever play PS3 games;
Buy the Hardware. Or. Piss. The. Hell. Off
Sorry, I have a tendancy to generalize a bit too much, I always get riled up in this particular debate. I wasn't saying you were crying or moaning, another generalization from me. Again, I wasn't saying you were being one of those obnoxious 360 owners, yet another generalization from me.squid5580 said:Gee I am sorry I thought it was my opinion that decided what games I like or that I am not interested in. Then it is pointless to have more than either the PS3 or the 360 and the Wii in the market. They all might as well get behind Sony or MS and be done with it. Without the exclusive titles there is no need to own both. And all those multi plat games were just a complete waste of time and resources porting between the 2 when they could have used that to improve the game itself.Jumplion said:Sorry, I have a tendancy to generalize a bit too much, I always get riled up in this particular debate. But my overall point stays the same, buy the hardware or get bent. If you don't have enough reason to buy a PS3, fine, but don't expect the exclusives to all of a sudden magically come to you.
I'm confused, are you helping my argument or going against it?squid5580 said:Then it is pointless to have more than either the PS3 or the 360 and the Wii in the market. Here is my logic. I bought a 360 soon after the launch of the PS3 because the 360 had more games (with a year lead no surprise right). So now I am waiting for Sony to play catch up and get some games onto the market that I can't buy for the 360 (and that I want). From my list we got 3 shooters and 1 fairly innovative game. That is just not enough. I want Sony to get out there and get some exclusives. And instead of teasing me with trailers and whatnot get the bloody games on the shelves. I am still waiting for White Knight Story. I saw gameplay footage of it 3 years ago. That game could be the deal maker for me. If they can't or don't get more going in the exclusives dept. (and not the whole hurry up and wait but actually on the shelves since I am very impatient when it comes to release schedules)then there is no point in me buying another console until the end and the PS4 and Xbox 720 are on the shelves. When I can buy 1 for pennies and get a chance to play the few titles I couldn't before. I want a PS3 now but I can't justify buying it until they get some more exclusive titles (and ones I would enjoy). And none of this well this console gets the new and improved version BULLSHIT either (Like Bioshock, Alone in the dark (your welcome for Beta testing it for you PS3 owners by the way glad I could pay 60 bucks to do it) and Batman). Same goes for the MS DLC screw you Sony. That is just dirty pool on both ends.Jumplion said:I'm confused, are you helping my argument or going against it?squid5580 said:Then it is pointless to have more than either the PS3 or the 360 and the Wii in the market. Exclusives make the console and make you want to buy it, it's the same in pretty much any other industry; Competition and money. If there's money to be had, then why not invest in a console?
Okay, I get your logic, I realized this when I reread your first post. I was just confused of your wording the most recent onesquid5580 said:Condense
To me it is all about the games. I could care less what console they happen to come on or who made them. I am a GAME FANBOY not a company/console one. (Although it does piss me off when a game is PC exclusive. I just can't get the hang of the keyboard mouse thing).Jumplion said:Okay, I get your logic, I realized this when I reread your first post. I think the only reason why they port to the 360 is because it's basically a PC that you plug into a TV. As it's been said...erm...somewhere...the 360 has the same architecture, same drivers, same OS almost, it's not that hard to port by the looks of things.DM. said:Valve knows PC. Not quite so as far as the architecture and the OS goes (though both Windows and the 360 use DirectX as the API a lot of things game related). The original Xbox was essentially a PC but the 360 processor is actually a variant of the PPC processor, which has more similarities with the Cell's PPE than it does with the x86 architecture. But considering Microsoft's tools let you compile the same code to run on the 360 with relatively little effort, well...Megacherv said:I think the only reason why they port to the 360 is because it's basically a PC that you plug into a TV. Doesn't help if you don't know how to program. How about you learn how to make a full featured PS3 game and then I'll eat my words.Jumplion said:Yeah, but most of us know the concept of "Practice makes Perfect" or "Face the problem head on"Arehexes said:Is it me or all these Valve are lazy posters don't know anything about coding?
Well if you read my original post I never said any names, just saying those people who are just saying "valve sucks for not making a game for my system". I wonder how much they know how to program, I really don't remember saying your name. It's always like this, if it's not the exact way that person wants it either the company sucks cause they didn't use the VA they wanted(or something) or the game sucks. Why don't you learn to read, going by your response your first word is I'M but I didn't even say your name did I? If you didn't say Valve doesn't know how to do their job fine, I'm asking do the people who think they can't program cause they don't want to program for the PS3 know how the PS3 works or how to program more then "hello world". And what do I have to prove, if you don't have to prove anything why should I? I know I'm a beginner and still am learning. But I also read up on system specs and SDKs.Psychosocial said:I'M not the one saying Valve doesn't know how to do their job.
