Bout fucking time. The cowardice behind the scope can finally attempt to grow a pair and get in the fight. If only it was a complete replacement rather than an optional addon.

I think the secondary for the sniper rifle might be something that is only strong at close range. I'm also thinking it'll be a shotgun but it'll be stronger than the one other characters have.

Valve...teasing us? Never heard of that before. Ir-regardless, I've been playing sniper for the majority of my time the past few months, but I'm just too damn impatient to actually go for the head shots. In my case I try to act as a "combat sniper" just to dispel the myth of the lone gunner in the rear. i go in in with the machete/smg combo. Also, I got REALLY good at no-scoping.

You make it sound so easy...
Headshots are far from being a one-shotter and they take a lot of effort on your part. The machine gun is useless.

Well if you compare the Sniper to something like the Scout:
He moves the fastest
Double jump
Deadly at close range, can throw you back using gun
Can turn invincible
Can stun you, then kill you with his bat
Can capture points the fastest

Well, who do you think is weaker than the Sniper?

I usually melee snipe, as I like to call it, anyway. It's more exciting to get headshots at close range for me.
Whatever this is, it'd have to replace the rifle otherwise people would scream overpowered.
I'd say it's an auto-sniper rifle without a scope, as I really can't think of anything else that'd be worthwhile to make a Sniper want to get in close range (I'm a rarity) that would still retain the very name of the class.

I just hope they leave out the jar of piss!!

I'm looking forward to these, I can half imagine them replacing the sniper rifle with a normal assault rifle. Something quick firing, accurate, but not do damaging unless aiming for the head... but thats in danger of become CSS then.

A fully charged sniper shot will insta-kill scouts, medics, snipers and spys whereever it hits, and leave pyros, soldiers and demos on next to no health. Heavys are the only people that can absorb sniper fire, especially if they have a medic, which is good being that they are slow and have big heads.

But that nice little list you just gave doesnt quite fit, as they can't do all of that at the same time. If they stun, they have no double jump, if they are invincible, they lose there only med-long ranged weapon, and have to stand still for 3 seconds to drink it. They also have the least health, and weakest melee attack.

Could be that most other consul shooters have a slight autoaim. TF2 as far as I'm aware, is as pure as the PC version, so no autoaim, or rather "aim assist".

If they take away way my sniper rifle I will be so pissed off.... we already have enough problems to deal with. As any good sniper knows, if you dominate someone, expect them to show up as a spy. Spies (and maybe that irriating demoman who hides on the 2fort bridge) are a sniper's worst enemy because you never can see them coming while yur in zoom, if they want to balance the sniper then give him the ability to better defend against spies.

Let's see.
Demoman has no short range weapon.
Pyro is useless at long range and a prime target for the Spy.
Heavy is only useful with backup.
Medic is very useful, as is Spy, Soldier.
Scout is OP against a small server, but loses to large servers.
Engie is good all round but suffers heavily to a good spy or a rotten team.
The only thing a Sniper can't do well is self-defence or capture, and with that range, who needs to?

As for upgrades, Backburner/Flare Gun/Axtinguisher are situational only.
Bonk!, Force of Nature and Slugger are great tools that really enhance.
Sasha is only good on defence, Sandvich is essential and KGB is automatic.
Blutsauger and the Ubersaw are must haves, Blitzkrieg is situational.

So, rating them in terms of strength I'd say Soldier, Spy, Demoman, Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, Heavy, Pyro.

It it's defence: Sniper, Engie, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Scout, Soldier, Spy, Medic

If you want the updates you'll be buying on PC, but for the Xbox it's a retail only job.

It could work if they had a weapon that encouraged you to close to medium range instead of long range so your still in the battle but can still happily headshot people. Perhaps some form of slower firing rifle with a higher damage, you would be able to kill nearly everything in one or two shots but would have to sacrifice the total safety of longe range and be much closer to key battles. or not

My main problem is that the Sniper doesn't seem to integrate with the team tactically. He's just good at killing people, which isn't the point.

Scouts can cap points best.
Pyros can clear areas very quickly, both defending points or attacking.
Soldiers can trash defences from a good range.
Demomen can indiscriminately destroy stuff or can lay down good defensive walls.
Heavies can tank into areas, or lay down lots of fire for defence.
Engineer can build defences for objectives.
Spies can support offensively, being unable to completely waste a defence on their own.
Medics can obviously support their team by buffing and healing.

Snipers do what exactly? They just get the odd kill for their personal tally.

I'm still waiting on my TF2 update for the 360 though . . .

Which is why a good spy sticks a knife in his back first. And Pyros usually rush for the front line without spychecking every corner.

Obviously out of range of the SGs, or in range if he's just disabled them. Engie comes next whilst he's bent over the SG.

But in all fairness, the snipers are essentially the traffic wardens of the online world.
