Valve Teases TF2 Sniper Update

Personally, I'm hoping for a crossbow, but kind of different than a normal one.

-The recharge time is replaced with a single-shot clip and mouse-hold reloading - the longer you hold the farther it will pull the cord back, but you'd have to remain stationary as you pulled it up.
- The longer you spent pulling it back, the more damage the shot would do, just like scoping with the sniper rifle.
- Single-bolt clip, so you have to reload between shots.
- The advantage is that you can instantly fire a fully-charged shot, but after that you either have to go find a safe place to reload or just use your secondary weapon.
- The arc on the shot would make moving closer more of an advantage, as it would be easier to predict where the shot would go.

You know I just realized the since The Sniper is Australian, Maybe it'll be a boomerang? Granted a boomerang that will always come back to you but that's dependent on how far away you are.

Yes because the ball is magically attracted to the foreheads of enemies, give me a break. Nothing is ever guaranteed with the Sandman, just like nothing's guaranteed with much of anything in TF2, unless we're talking the Backburner which is pretty much guaranteed to oneshot anybody/kill a heavy in a couple seconds if a pyro gets at someone's back. Hate that weapon so much (and yes I realize the irony of complaining about the Backburner while defending The Sandman, but one of those has been banned in League play and the other hasn't)

That seems bonkers. Have you ever realised how tough it is to get behind players as a Pyro, not to mention that the Spy also has that ability. As well as the crippling loss of the Airblast.

And not banning the only de-Invulnerability ability? Madness.

Anyway I think an ironsights/semiauto rifle upgrade for the sniper would be interesting.

As far as I'm aware the UK leagues let you play with anything and everything since the pyro unlock. No airblast, and crits only when behind is pretty even trade off.

And whoever said Jar of Piss, that was a April fools, so wont be one of the unlocks... we hope... valve have a dark sence of humour sometimes.

The Sandman and was nerfed for a reason and so was the Backburner. They were both unbalanced when they were first released. Last time I checked Sandman was still banned from CEVO and the airblast is too useful to give up.

And erm...If you hate the Backburner you must really hate the the Spies sidestabs.

Here's hoping for a useful sidegrade unlock!

Oh, the Sniper. As one particularly snarky critic explained, playing the Sniper in TF2 is like playing a point-and-click adventure game where the only puzzle is "Use Gun on Man." A good sniper can effortlessly thin the ranks of the enemy team - a bad sniper gets killed by spies and pyros. The rest are all standing on the battlements on 2fort.\

Yep, nothing I look forward to more than having the most annoying class get an update that incorporates better weapons.

I've enjoyed all the unlockable weapons so far and I doubt that Valve will disappoint.

I don't mind snipers as long as they can realize that they ca have a fairly offensicve role as well. Too many snipers are just lounging by the most recently capped point. But they are rewarded for gain without pain so I guess that will never happen.

At least it's easy to stab their brains out.
