Highly recommended.

I currently need only 2 missions on insane, so if anyone wants to have their arse handed to them by ME, add "Posh Lollerblade" on friends.

I will rock your world.

I'm not a huge fan of top-down shooters, but for free it is worth a try, just like America's Army. I just hope the community isn't like America's Army's... that game was free and people were constantly bitching about it on the Steam forums about how the graphics weren't top notch or whatever...
Did you enjoy America's Army? I heard it was really uninteresting.

I found it really boring, well, AA3 that is. The first AA game... well... I could never get through the shoot house in the training missions. :/

I just played it. I think despite going for recreating a mod, Alien Swarm is the same idea as Left 4 Dead: Based off the cheesy movies on the subect that are so great. Left 4 Dead is the idea of good ol' zombie B movies, while Alien Swarm is good ol' alien B movies. The characters occasionally say something really cheesy randomly, the Aliens look like they're supposed to be low budget in terms of appearance, despite the fact that they don't.
I'm not very good at it so far, but it's fun. Plus, Free!

Makes me fall in love even more with PC gaming and valve's respect for its consumers :D

What other developer gives free games, DLCs and supports its community so well.

No, I'm on holidays now for three weeks. I'm stuck in a boring town, with a laptop where even some browser games lag. I really want to try out this game but I can't until I get back.

To be fair, I'd bet some cold hard cash that they're (mostly) doing this in order to get more people to use Steam.

Valve pockets a pretty substantial commission on every sale they make through steam (I can't recall where or when I saw it, but some indie dev said it was around 30%), so it's really in their best interest to hand out free shit (funded by commissions on sales.. see where this is going?), and as much as I love Valve and their products, I doubt this shower of gifts will continue for very long once/if they manage to corner a monopoly on the digital distribution market.

BUT, on topic: Alien Swarm is very very awesome. As a medic, I love the tesla gun, since I can safely use it while behind my teammates and not hurt them or waste any ammo if they walk into my line of fire. It's also great for immobilizing the boomers and those [CENSOR'D] shield bugs. Already finished the campaign (on hard mode FWIW), but I hear that the level editor is extremely easy to use, so I'm greatly looking forward to custom campaigns.
