Valve to Release Alien Swarm for Free

I vaguely remember playing the old UT2k4 version of this. I don't think I could get multiplayer working, but even with bots it was really fun.

God bless you Valve for releasing this awesome game for free. I mean, what other developer can you imagine doing something like this?

You do indeed need to get Steam for this. Don't worry, it's free.

Steam is a digital distribution platform for computer games, and it offers persistent statistics, achievements, and whatnot. It's like the PC version of Xbox Live, if that makes sense. Read the Wikipedia article on it; that might be helpful.

Thats the reason i've been off my Ps3 for an age as well, no new games that attract me and to be honest its more cost effective using steam

I was so happy to be getting it in the hour, now I have to wait until the evening. Will Valve push it back further? It really wouldn't surprise me.

I happen to be downloading this game now. As soon as I saw the trailer I thought top-down L4D but with aliens. Plus it's free.

Bright side: Its finally downloaded for me

Less bright side: everytime I try to do an offline or online game it crashes at the "n" in loading and boots me back to my desktop without an error message meaning I cannot actaully play the game.
