Reports are spotty and the Pentagon are refusing to comment, but we are seeing attacks on military installations and ammo depots as well as attacks on different cities.

While this whole affair reeks of the worst kind of US interventionism there is at least the positive sidenote that there were not a lot of casualties and that it might not be a protracted operation.

On the negative sides, plural, this kind of interventionism goes against everything that helps keep global order and seems like the kind of thing that would only embolden Trump and his cronies, it seems a slippery slope that starts with Maduro and ends with the Canadian or Danish prime ministers.

Not to give America too much credit but you do see a clear difference between their approach and that of the Russians. The Americans flew in and kidnapped the president with fighting and killing seemingly limited.

When Russia invaded Ukraine they tried to murder any Ukrainian they could get their hands on, and still do.

Well to be fair, Manduro is neither popular nor legitimate, so deposing him isn't exactly the worse thing. This could work out better for Venezuela if they let them rebuild their country without too much interference (I'm assuming they'll ask for oil and stuff). Now at the same time, Manduro was supported by a whole network of crony, these won't just disappear now that he's been captured.

Looking at history, not the greatest odds of that happening. Then again, how the country is run is irrelevant so long as whoever is running it sells the country out to the US and its corporations. Maduro didn't want to play ball, so it had to go. Machado seems more amenable, but it's got that Nobel prize against it.

Frankly they kidnapped the wrong one. It should have been Putin. Bibi might be a good consolation prize though
