This is perhaps my favorite review:
What author Carole Lieberman lacks in integrity, she makes up for with her uncanny ability to spin (not so) intricate webs of lies, fabricate "facts" to suit her agenda on the fly, and misrepresent subjects she clearly has no knowledge of or experience with. She grasps at straws that aren't there at all and comes across as exactly what she is: biased, uninformed, and utterly unethical.
The author's methods aside, the actual content is offensive to men and women alike, as well as potentially harmful if read by impressionable minds. Lieberman enforces gender roles and stereotypes, asserting that there are only twelve types of "bad girls" and even fewer types of men and "good girls." Men are presented as objects to be manipulated by hyper-sexualized women. The author encourages women to exaggerate their sexuality with the sole purpose of "getting what they want" with no regard to the consequences for the other half of these non-relationships.
This is all compounded by Lieberman's inability to write in any sort of intelligent manner. A wordsmith she is not (and apparently neither is her editor) as is evidenced by the plethora of spelling errors and grammatical blunders.
To be blunt, do not buy this book. I plan to shred my copy--I would rather do that than sell the book and risk another more impressionable reader pick up this atrocity. This would be truly dangerous. After all, the increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the reading of sexual content in Carole Lieberman's book.
The absurdity of the last sentence compared with the tone of the rest of the review just really did it for me.
1) She complains about the portrayal of sex in the media, yet writes books that reinforce those same values.
2) She makes baseless remarks (games cause rape) without showing any supporting studies/evidence.
Nearly all of the 1 star reviews on Amazon either parody/remark upon these two points. They note that her book champions the same sexual aggressiveness that she's complaining about, and therefore jump to a similar conclusion about her book ("the rise in rape can be attributed to this book!".
There are very few amazon reviews that just wantonly flame her for her views.

To be fair, the amazon bombing is somewhat related to her statements:geldonyetich said:Bombing somebody's book review for something they said completely unrelated to that book is a bit like egging their car. It's not intelligent, it's immature.

And posting her address and phone number online? That is a sure recipe to make the world view gamers in a better light.
While this may be seen as "bringing it to her level", I don't think it's on the same level as, say, writing hate mail and such. She made an incredibly stupid statement, and compared a large portion of the population to rapists. I'm actually surprised at how mature the comments on amazon are, given the offensiveness of her original comment.Stilt-Man said:This isn't Karma; it's retaliation. It's also ridiculous. We should try to be above reproach, and show Dr. Carole, FOX News, and their respective viewers WHY they are wrong, in a rational manner; not just react and try to get her book a bad rating. My mind boggles at this "Amazonbombing" (cute term), and is further boggled that it's being celebrated. WHAT? We have no right to whine and lament about video games and its community never being taken seriously when we're pulling this kind of childish crap.
