In Dragon Age, when you do Morrigan's quest which (spoiler alert, folks) puts you against Flemeth... well, she absolutely destroyed me the first time. Took the quest waaaay too early. However, I noticed she spawned on a hill - a seperate location from where she's standing when you speak to her.

So I headed to the keep, got out all the damaging traps I'd made, and placed them in the spot she's meant to spawn. I spoke to her, initiated the fight... she died before she could even hit me. I was laughing for a solid minute at my genius.

I was having trouble beating Shadow Link in that accursed Water Temple, and after I was down to my last 4 hearts, I threw my hands up and tried hitting him with Din's Fire. And it worked.

Apparently the Dev team didn't think of a counter for that.

Almost any race in The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

They usually don't start until you get into your car, so I'd park it by the finish line, then run all the way back to the start, commence the race, run all the way back to the car and cross the finish line 2 minutes before my opponent.

Easily the best Simpsons game ever created.

FFXII, I guess. Against one of those Judge guys, only Penelo left, no other options. QUICKENING GOGO. Insta-kills him. My fist pump was heard throughout the land.
Quickening chains were my favorite way to win.

After my first playthrough, I also did the auto level glitch.

Thank god for those gambits.

I don't think anyone can do that. My proudest moment was on doing the train to get teh silver PP7.

OT: When i learned the Vigorian Flail pwns Zombie Fish in Ninja Gaiden.
Speaking of which, you could get through pretty much the entirety of Ninja Gaiden just by using the move Flying Swallow. Even the final boss, it was just flying swallow over and over and over.

OT: My strategy for beating Malak in KOTOR was just to run around the room and force lightning him when I got the chance, it took forever, but was the easiest way to win.

Final boss of Twilight Princess. Basically, after whittling down Ganon's health during the sword duel, it gets to a point where you clash blades and have to mash A to strike him down for good. I initiated this sequence many, many times but always failed, and had to do it again each time. Finally, I got frustrated, and screamed at the screen "JUST FUCKING DIE YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" And flailed the Wiimote about whilst demolishing the button.

As it happens, you were supposed to be shaking the Wiimote to defeat him. And that's how I won.
...Wait, you can shake the Wiimote too? I've just been mashing the A button and it works for me. I need to try that sometime.
OT: My moment would have to be in Phantom Hourglass, where you had to imprint a mark on the top screen on to your map on the bottom screen for the second sea map. I must have tried a bunch a crap before I closed my ds to take a break. When I opened it back up, lo and behold, the deed was done. Was a rare moment where I was pissed and happy at the same time.

In Megaman 2, for me it would be that bubbles are the best weapon against Dr.Wiley.

Mafia 2, Chapter 14.

I was playing it on hard mode, and the fight on the docks isn't that bad, but once you get into the warehouse, there are like six or eight assholes shooting at you, on top of the "boss" throwing molotov cocktails at you from an elevated position.

So I always went in, picked somewhere to crouch down and try to take a few of the shooters out, but molotov douche would rain that crap down and it would damage me even if I was behind cover. I'd try to reposition, but his goons would either shoot me up, or they'd outright flank me before I got the chance.

So, it's about the eighth or ninth try and I'm just like.... "Fuck this, I'm at least killing the guys on the ground who flank me!" So I just run straight in, suicide mission style, and run under the platform where molotov man and his buddies are hanging out, and kill the two guys on the main floor. Wouldn't you know, the guys on the top floor, unable to see or reach me with gunfire anymore, start coming down the stairs. So I started shooting them as they came down.

With them all gone, killing this asshole with the molotovs was easy. So, a rage fueled strategy that I didn't expect to live through actually proved to be the smartest thing to do in that situation. Go figure.

Not in a particularly revelatory sense but I found stupidly easy tactics like the area effect magic spell in Fable which beat the shit out of everything and everyone. Then also Prince of Persia The Sands of Time when I realised that I could beat anything in the game with at least 2 moves, although I also used X then square then triangle a hell of a lot because it was just so damn effective against all of the initial enemies you fight. Then the end boss fight was JUST counterattack after counterattack.

Spending fucking ages throwing ultra ball after ultra ball after ultra ball at the level 70 lugia on pokemon gold, only to throw one pokeball and catch him...
I had a similar thing in Pokemon Crystal with Suicune. Used up all my ultra balls, great balls, and pokeballs, so I threw a random friend ball at it and caught it.

I remember going up against Night Terror for the hard challenge as Sophitia. After he spent so many rounds killing me I finally figured out that all I had to was hold block and use a back-flip kick every time he stopped attacking. I've never had a problem beating him since.

I never thought I'd have a chance of getting Invincibility either until I realised I could save time by coming down the toilet stairs, throwing a mine on the wall, and taking out the guards in the door switch console room at the same time as I gunned down the guard with the keycard. See if this helps.

I was having trouble with a base. So I took a fighter jet. After a couple strafing runs, everyone was dead. But they had called for backup. Was having trouble fighting off the helicopters, so I was taking damage. Saw the big plane that dropped paratroopers approaching. Hung to the bottom of my jet, missed the helicopter I was aiming for, dropped off, and the jet crashed into the paratrooper plane, blowing that up. While that happened, the helicopter that had initially dodged my plane crashed into the other helicopter.
I looted the base, and proceeded to jump off the mountain.
That was beautiful :)

Comix Zone.

FREAKING HARD GAME.

Anyways, I was constantly stuck on the mother-boss thing at the end of the first level, but then it set a barrel on fire. I decided that pushing the barrel under would cause some extra damage, but she'd just attack and destroy the barrel. I tried anyways.

IT ROASTED HER ALIIIIIIIIIVE!

Seriously, get the barrel under her, end fight. She can't even attack while she's on fire.
I remember this. Love Comix Zone. Love the invincibility cheat. But even still, the barrel on fire seemed pretty obvious to me. What gave me trouble-and-a-half was the second boss and figuring out "Oh, I have to impale him on his own fingernails. Because everyone knows that! SURE!". Well, because I was invincible, it wasn't much of a loss, but I did get pissed.

Final Fantasy 7...Ruby Weapon

Could never beat him as he would remove my 2 companions before i could start hurting him then i took a risk by killing my companions before the battle started and what do you know he sticks his hands in the sand straight away and then cast phonix downs to revive the other 2 and then hades to paralyze him and then hammer away with Kinghts of the round and mime it till he's dead.

I then took my reward and got it exchanged for...... A Bloody Golden Chocobo of which I already had one as I needed it to get Kights of the round.

Took me nearly 24 hrs to create a golden one so I was mightly pissed off when I got a second!
I remember this! A friend of mine found this out shortly after I worked on an easier strategy against Emerald Weapon. (It's not to say that that made it any easier to kill Emmy, but seriously... Low materia into battle, miming Omnislash, awesome.)

OT: Now then, my actual entree into this is from Final Fantasy 6...

And that says it all.

Spamming the ballista in the final boss fight of Dragon Age. The thing was kicking my ass and on the final part of the fight I just start spamming the damn thing until it died. I know that's a common one, but it still made me facepalm because it kind of breaks the fight.
