this is the UK reaction to 5cm of snow HOLY F*** WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD PRAY AS RAPTURE IS NOW me living in Germany as a child we we normally got 10-15cm of snow (when I lived there but I think now there is less snow fall) I will say get over yourself but then again my school is closed today because of the snow so I won't complain.
I'm from the Netherlands. Schools here pretty much stay open al the time.
We barely ever get more than 2 inches of snow, anyway.
All the trains have delay though, which is a pain.

Where I live the standard is the train system.
If the trains decided to shutdown then all the businesses and the schools take their cue from that, despite the fact that most students walk to school.
I think the point is to have everybody on the same page.
But, where I grew up (sunny California) people are so frightened of weather of any kind heavy rain will causes delays.

I have never had a snow day and i live in minnesota. I dont think anyone believes in them here, once about a foot and still class... damn
Right now I live in an area that, as far as I know, hasn't seen snow since the Ice Age. However, back when I lived in the Midwest, it usually depended on the roads. If it snowed a bit, school wasn't canceled. If the roads iced up and the buses couldn't get to were they needed to get, it was canceled until something was done about the roads. You'd watch the morning news and the little news ticker at the bottom listed all the schools that would be closed.
As a Finnish person I have never had problems with snow. Nothing has ever been closed during my life because of snow. Same goes for cold temperatures. Everything works pretty much as usual during winter.
I live in London, and when it snowed nearly every school closed except mine. Seriously, my principal is goddamn adamant about not letting up for snow.
Right now, we have 30cm of snow. But I remember when I was little I might have had 7 years, there was a lot of snow, and the students from grade 1 to 7, so from 7 years to 13 didn't go to school. But that leaves kids from 14 onwards going to school.
But today, our school was closed because of the really low temperatures. For example now, it's -8 degrees outside, and the heating had frozen up.

Now i have to ask why schools in america closes down when it's snowing? It's not like it y'know, actually does anything.

I've only head about schools closing down once, the big brother of one of my pals told me it was closed down about 13 years ago. But at the time there was 13 feet of snow and a blizzard going on so it was kinda understandable.

I live in Brussels. It's not the snow that causes the problems, but the road chaos. Seems that this city wasn't made to deal with cars and snow. Everything just locks up here.
In britain we rarely get bad snow, so when we do all the goverment does is run around panicking, then when the snow clears they spend thousands on grit and safegaurds, then when snow falls they never see it coming
