Makes me wonder if I'm the only sane religious person in the world.

I can see I don't have a lot of competition.

Requiescat in pace, Steve Jobs.

The irony of the statements Westboro makes about sinning being evil is that the bible says that everyone sins, and I don't see them parading at each other's funerals.

And as usual, people will clamor over them. They will continue to be infamous, because we keep reporting over them. They're like some extremely noisy, annoyingly unionized conspiracy theorists. Did anyone else notice how she mentioned he has a huge platform? They're grabbing for attention and we're giving it to them. That's how it's always gone, and that's how it will be until we get over it.

There's a significant difference between someone with very powerful enemies acting notably out of character on a quite possibly hacked service, versus someone whom nobody really cares about acting perfectly in character on the same service. If Assange were to disown that act, I would give him the benefit of the doubt. I do not think Phelps will disown hers.

Where's the picketing funerals part?
That's easy.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

When the Phelps' cult pickets, they are spreading the gospel. It's proselytizing, just like they're supposed to do.

People think that they're trolling, and in a sense, I suppose that's right. They are certainly looking for attention. Ultimately, though, trolls give out just fuck with people to get a rise out of them. WBC isn't doing that. They think they're telling you the truth.

As an aside, they aren't trying to save anyone's soul necessarily, either. They're just letting everyone know that they're all going to hell. Calvinism, man.

Westboro actually protested at my high school (Heritage). I have to be quite frank; unfair as it is, those guys need to have their rights to protest taken from them. They're just persistent trolls at this point. Nobody except themselves takes them seriously, so just stop thinking about them. They want attention and they know going to high schools and funerals gets attention.

That's not what I asked. I asked about picketing funerals, and I don't see anything stated nor implied in your quotes to support it. Because that's not really proselytizing and it's certainly nothing like they're supposed to do, and everybody knows it except them and you.

EDIT: Furthermore, they're not out to teach the whole of the gospel, but rather the hate of the gospel. They never discuss anything except how not to be Christian (while arguably further demonstrating it themselves). That's the opposite of proselytizing.

Assange made no claim that the document was real, but linking fake medical records stating Steve Jobs had HIV just after he passed away from a real illness like cancer just shows a complete lack of respect.
/clap And just like that, my respect for Assange disappears like the garments of the magician's wife.

Westboro Baptist Looneys: Their grasp on "God", "Good" and "Holy" is upside-down, at best.

Julian Asshat: Not funny. Pool's closed.

Wow, my captcha looks Greek. What now? I don't do Greek.

As much as I dislike the products of his company, I give the man all the credit he deserves as one of the great visionaries of our time. His vision and drive helped to make computer technology what it is today.

Westboro, Assange and anyone else who uses death to push their agenda can kiss my @#$. One of these days they will get their rightful punishment for their actions

It certainly is proselytizing. "Telling people what your religion says," is pretty much what proselytizing is. That's what they're doing. They are spreading the word. That is what the funeral pickets are. Or do you think that proselytizing comes only in the form of missionary work or door-to-doors? I'm really not getting the part where I didn't answer your question.

I can't wait til one of the leaders at WBC dies, mass picket of funeral due to being a troll and massive dick in life? It's not mature, it's not cleaver but hey if they complain it's eye for eye and tooth for tooth is it not?

After several people pointed out the irony of using the product created by the same man she was damning, Phelps responded, "Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell. God created iPhone for that purpose! :)"
God created the iPhone. The iPhone was created by Apple. Thus, we can assume that according to the WBC, Apple is God. Now, Steve Jobs was the creator of Apple. Thus, if Apple is God, then Steve Jobs created God, thus making him a step higher than God. WBC is protesting against Steve Jobs. meaning that WBC is protesting against the man who created God. Logic. It just... it doesn't work with WBC. It can't.
You won. Have an internet. be careful; it bites and looks a lot like this:
So true about the internet and Apple being God.

See this is why organised religion is a bad idea, every idiot will interpret their religious text however they want to justify doing whatever they want, then when people complain hide behind it.

pure trolls, move along guys. no controversy here, just attention grabbing juvenile people.
Yep.

I'm gladly beginning to realize just how much Westboro Baptist Church really doesn't care about whatever religion they're hiding behind at all. It's a giant publicity stunt being fueled by people who take them seriously.

Not even crazy logic can possibly make whatever they are saying make sense.

Stop giving a shit about them and they will go away.

The best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them. Don't post news. Don't post any more comments. Let this attempt to anger you slip by unnoticed.
I agree.
This "Church" consists only of 71 people and they're getting way too much airtime.

Sure it's moronic, but it's only a tiny group morons.

Jobs was a man. A famous man but still a man. His death should be viewed with sympathy for his loved ones, but with the realization he had his flaws.

I'm not going to celebrate his death like some victory for my favourite brand/religion. There's no class in that. WBC are tasteless assholes, best we can do is try to drown them out with our freedoms of speech or ignore them.

*And let it be noted that not all Baptists are dicks like these guys are. They give that sect a bad name.
