I mean Zimmerman. The "cooky" Florida neighborhood watch that murdered someone. It was a particularly ugly case.wAriot said:The race discussion has been alive and well for thousands of years, and I doubt it will die any time soon.Frission said:After all there's people discussing about subjects that I thought were dead and buried.
Well, the whole Zimmerman case and posterior shitstorm was based on racism. If he was black (or Trayvon was white), the situation wouldn't have even come close to what it was, and maybe the killing wouldn't have even happened.Frission said:I mean Zimmerman. Eh, most of 4chan is permanently pissed off so I wouldn't say it's that big of an achievement.Madame_le_Flour said:it successfully pissed off 4Chan, and in that respect it was doing the goddess' work.
That doesn't sound exactly like a "bunch of white GUYS".Grahav said:Posting this, a whole bunch of white guys commenting on the incident:

To be entirely fair, "trying to get away" is an equally valid response to both a) feeling threatened, and b) planning to do something untoward to someone else.Lightknight said:Martin tried to get away. Does that sound like a person who isn't feeling threatened?
Or who's up to no good and feeling guilty. Which is surely what Zimmerman seemed to take from that reaction. A lot of this could probably have been avoided if he'd acted like he knew he belonged there, and not like he'd been caught where he shouldn't be or doing something he shouldn't be doing. A simple "hey man I live here" instead of running off, could've de-escalated the situation right quick.Lightknight said:You are correct. I see now that he was appointed by other members. Lots of misdirection came out on the reporting of the story at the time.Cerebrawl said:Well Zimmerman was the neighbourhood watch coordinator, so he wasn't simply self-appointed. This neighbourhood watch was administered by the local police department.
We know that Martin started trying to run away. Zimmerman stated this on the 911 call. Zimmerman even eventually lost sight of him. Perhaps Martin was hiding to get away from him. That's the point the dispatcher told him not to follow Martin any further and Zimmerman ended the call. That's the point beyond which we don't know more about. You're also treading well into the realm of unsubstantiated speculation. All we know is that Zimmerman approached Martin, was assaulted by Martin, and while on his back and being sat on and beaten by Martin, shot Martin.
And we'll certainly never know what Martin felt.
Martin tried to get away. Does that sound like a person who isn't feeling threatened?
Cause the last one was one of the biggest threads, hitting at 40 pages and a number of bans and warnings given that haven't even been counted (Due to being so many, but I'm working on it~). People are waiting for lightning to strike twice.Vegosiux said:Bloody hell.
Hoookay, that's not gonna end well. There's going to be spillovers to Off-Topic and Gaming. There's going to be people acting like complete and utter self-important twats with a Messiah complex. There's going to be division in the community. There's going to be just so much vitriol flying about it's not going to be funny.
I don't get it. Why are people looking forward to it? For a cheap laugh? Go to some Joke of the Day site. For that smug sense of self-satisfaction, patting yourself on the back and going "Hah, look at me, so much more awesome than those mud-slinging peasants"? Just go to 4chan for that.
Seriously, I hope you know what you're doing. Because I sure as hell think too many people have been scared off or ejected from the forum thanks to this kind of things as it is.
Well I guess my thinking was that all the people that understood the context, that is to say, all those who knew that this was from the previous WGDF and would have sounded off on the previous comic in a way that would net them an easy ban would have already done it there and so they wouldn't be around to comment on this comic.Gorrath said:Well, given the nature of the previous comic and its effect, I'd say we have a context. At least until the next one is made, the context is the previous strip. If they leverage the expectation created by this image to get people arguing and then turn around and put out something far less inflammatory, it will be a little bit brilliant. If they put out nothing at all and are just using this single image to spark debate, that itself would be interesting.Hunter85792 said:I see that this thread will be composed exclusively of people waiting for people to be offended by the subject matter.
But there's no reason to be offended by this image out of context.
Wait till Tuesday when they post something actually inflammatory to see if someone takes the bait.

Check out the size of that thread.
And try to count the number of bans in there. There are simply too many to count.
