You've probably had rather bad luck wrt enemy's dice rolls, since I can assure you, a drop-pod army is waaaay worse to play against. Especially when they give you first turn and you're looking at just a measly scout squad surrounded by cover that you can't shoot or do anything against, and no amount of mulling over movement options can prepare you for the arrival of four drop pods with two Dreads, a Tac squad and Sternguard.

I think I dislike the chaos daemons the most, mostly because I hate playing against them, and well I think it would be cooler if they were integrated with the Chaos Marines somehow.

PS the mini painting thread:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/for...gallery-thread-also-Ultramarines-movie-review
Probably won't happen in the near future seeing as how they were a part of CSM, but were split off around 3rd or 4th ed. I think.
Yeah 2nd ed was the good old days for any Chaos collector being able to field mixed chaos armies in both 40k and fantasy. Also when your pink horros died they used to split into 2 blue ones.

I do wish it would go back to the old way of doing things, it made more sense.
Yeah the only thing was in fantasy they were the most overpowered army there, I mean, I'm glad they kept the 1+ save or whatever it was for the khorne knights but I hated them because I played Undead, before they split those off too-the bastards, made my 10k point army almost obsolete, and I'd just gotten my Nagash painted just the right way I wanted and then they got rid of him- and about the only thing I had to have a chance of harming them was either my general or Bjorn, and those damn dragon ogres, i I had my alt High Elves blue dragon breath-weapon a group before I read the army book and learned the hard way dragon ogres kill stupid people. Just looking at the stuff now on the site, all i see are Chaos etc,Chaos etc., Chaos etc., oh look finally something not Ch- nevermind, those are Beastmen. Why'd they have to split them into other armies in 40k, I mean they were one of the few armies that could table a halfway decent Tyranid army, and by half decent I mean the models, not always the general, without losing half their troops in the process. I saw a group of 5 Noise Marines take on a 30 Genestealer brood, a Lictor and a Carnifex once and the only reason they were eventually massacred was because the Chaos guy forgot to bring in his nurglings the last turn, and I still think the Tyranids are overpowered for their point cost for most of their stuff, but that may just be because everyone I play plays to win and I'm just there for the hell of it, I love my Howling Banshees and Warp Spiders though, don't know how I would have won half my battles without them.

Yeah I know. Still they are okay as Daemons in Fantasy, but I just hate them in 40k, just so annoying.
Just throw 50 Boyz at 'em, they'll die pretty easily that way, but since you're SW, take two long fang squads, full strength, with at least one of every heavy weapon, particularly lascannon and heavy bolter and blast from two sides with lots of blood claws keeping them tied up. works almost every time.
In my experience the Flamers of Tzeench will just land as close to the fangs as possible and make burning cinders of them all :p

But it's not that I lack strategy, its just they are annoying to fight, with their drop play.
I know what you mean, mostly I just blast 'em with fire and send in my little kill-mes in to keep them occupied, of course I've just always been lucky with dice, and Njal normally takes care of the demons that get too close, and the only reason I've normally lost is because of either Tyranids, or the one time I failed a simple armor save against a raindrop or something like that.

Biel Tan Eldar! The best of course. One of my housemates plays IG and the other plays 'nids, so we have some interesting battles. I love having a shit ton of aspect warriors at the ready, but I wonder if they would ever forgive me if I got the Phantom Titan from FW. Eldar are just so much fun to play, much better than all the other races.

Personally my least favourite army is the Necrons, they're too samey visually. To play against, I hate Tau though. lots of ranged shit, it's annoying. If I can get my units up to them then I can win pretty easily, but usually they're shot to shit before I can.

If you mean "the best at having their Seer Council slaughtered by a single Chaos Lord", then yes, they are the best. :p

Fellow Black Templar! Hail, brother.
This is quite interesting. Up until now, our local 40K community had one single Black Templar player, but this year alone, in the past 6 months, at least three new players are starting with Black Templars. It's a strange ressurgence.

I play Flames of War, which is a tabletop game very very similar to Warhammer, only based on WWII. I play Rommel's Deutsche Afrika Korps

I got into that for a while. I had an XBOXHUEG German force tailored for the Eastern Front (greatcoats, looted PPsh's, captured T-34's and KV-1's, Ford trucks, and everything). The game was fun, and I actually accidentally met some of the developers while visiting a gaming club in New Zealand, but the community ended up ruining it for me. The game was a lot of fun, as I said, but some people, the influential people here, started taking it far, far too seriously, and if I want a job, I have a job already. I just wanted a hobby. So, years later, I traded my Germans for an Ork army, and that was that. I kept my favorite Tiger, "Hobbes", though. Not only is he lovingly painted, but he killed so much he ran out of space for kill rings. :p

I WAS interested in getting into Vietnam, but no one seems to be playing it, so...

Aside from 40K, I also have:

- An Imperial Navy fleet for Battlefleet Gothic
- A Clan Mors Skaven force for Warhammer Fantasy
- An Earth Alliance fleet for Babylon 5: Fleet Action
- A Federated States of America fleet for Dystopian Wars
- A Cygnar force for Warmachine
- A Clan Wolf-in-Exile force for Battletech

And I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but that's all I can remember.

That army sounds bad-ass, I mean really that one sentence is making want to build an army for the Eastern Front. But, I definitely know what you mean by the community ruining it. I never attend tournaments or anything like that, I mostly just play with my brother and a couple friends. I kinda just assumed the community would be like that for all table-top games.

There's always a totally competitive segment of a game's community, but it varies according to the game. Warhammer Fantasy players, for example, tend to be more competitive than 40K players. But Flames of War seemed to be built around it, so, well... I just up and left. Haven't really regretted it, either.

And yeah, playing with friends is the way to go. Flames of War tournaments at times just turn into shouting matches.

I've collected Fantasy (but that's irrelevant to this thread) and Warhammer 40k. I've collected Space marines (Dark Angels), Tyranids, and I've just started collecting Dark eldar.

My least favourite faction? Hmh, that's a hard one. I don't really dislike any faction, but if I have to pick my least favourite, I have to pick.. Grey knights. Because it just feels as if they're unfair to play, since basicly (from what I hear) every single unit can be equipped with a force weapon.

Blood Angels forever! I love my dudes. Space Wolves, too. I love the fluff behind both, and the Blood Angels have a decent variety of units, so they're fun to play. (Also, my Death Company can stomp anything into submission!)

My boyfriend also plays it; he's the one teaching me how to play (he always wins, though). The little shelf space that isn't filled with his vast library of books is filled with half a dozen different Warhammer armies (both 40k and Fantasy). He's really good at modeling and painting. I'm still just a beginner, but I'm quite good at doing action poses on models.

Does that include Grey Knight Paladins with an Apothecary... actually, that would be an interesting match up, PW the DC up and it'd be quite a smash-fest.

LOL, please tell me the gunner is called Calvin!

OT: I don't think I've mentioned it on this thread but Jetbike Seer Council, fuck yeah!

Battletech was way better and cheaper. I played Warhammer some back in the days, but i never really could get into it. Just cost to much money to really get into it. But i played Eldar, because my friends had a crap load of 40k, and didnt really play Eldar all that much.

I loved Clan Wars though. I wish AEG didnt go under, it could have lasted longer.

my favorite is Eldar, fleet of foot is something I got so used to I just can't live without it and the whole psychic powers thing is awesome. + I love Mu-ga-ra and Eldrad.

I don't REALLY have a least favorite but the models I would buy last would have to be imperial guard and orcs. Swarm tactics have never been my thing (tried imperial guard once and within the hour I was completely annihilated by the this big psychic jelly fish from the tyranids...)
