Man, metro now rage 2

It's been a shitty year for "masterpieces"
Metro is excellent. Rage 2 FPS part by id software is good. the avalanche part that is open world is pretty bland.
Lol, nice try. In the end, it couldn't even be better than Borderlands 2, which is a 2012 game. Too bad, so sad.

Gunplay wise its already better. borderlands 2 was mediocre and having supbar gunplay. although its no Doom but its ok. Rage 1 is also better than borderlands.

id software play thier part well but avalanche drop the ball big time. and its primarily being develop by avalanche. its basically just far cry meet mad max with 10% slice of Doom.

I'm not surprised. You don't play as a hyper buff macho man nor do you mindlessly just shoot things, so obviously its not going to be your thing

LOOOOOOOOL. You can't cherry pick gameplay mechanics. It's either a good game or it isn't. And Rage 2 is a terrible game. Borderlands 2 is still a critically acclaimed title and no one gives a shit that you don't like it. Just imagine, an ARPG shooter from 2012 that lets you play with a female character shits all over your precious 2019 fps from id. It's fuckin' hilarious.

It's really quite good, and honestly the second best game I played this year (the first being RE2 remake).

Rage 2 is not id software game and it doesnot even use id engine. and there is only one id software game that will release this year and that will be Doom Eternal.

https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/0...dios-id-working-with-them-on-a-creative-level

We at Avalanche are making the game,? said Avalanche game Director Magnus Nedfors. He told me that id has been working closely with them on the creative level ?since day one,? but that ?we have written the code, we have made the art and that stuff -- that part of development is made in Stockholm by Avalanche.?
Im not a Rage 2 fan. im just praising its gunplay mechanics and thats freaking amazing. yes its a terrible open world game that is saved by id software gunplay. having open world, pink wacky wacky tone is not id software style.

borderlands 2 was highly critically acclaimed game sure but it was also incredibly overrated boring cartoonish loot shooter.

talking about ARPG shooter my friend. how about game in your avatar starting adam jensen? the Deus Ex Human Revolution? that was masterpiece and one of the best game of last gen.

Then stop trying to sneak in praise for id when it's not their game.

It isn't saved by anything. It's a shit game. A bit of gunplay can't and won't change that.

Rage 2 lol. Real gamers play Borderlands 2.

Id software did Excellent gameplay in one of the most bland and generic open world game ever. they are extremely talented and also show the talent difference between id and avalanche.

im no Rage 2 fan but something need to be appreciated. now i imagine how amazing Doom Eternal will be.

borderlands 3 looks like DLC of borderlands 2 after 7 years.

So, in games, on an intellectual level, what DOES impress you?
He didn't answer you, but I'll give it a crack myself.

- Game must be first-person
- Protagonist must be a tough MANLY man (absolutely no female protagonists allowed)
- Endless mindless shooting with no annoying story or cutscenes getting in the way
- Absolutely no pink or other gawdy colors

Did I miss anything?

I've put a few hours into it over the weekend. Really enjoying it so far. The gameplay itself is a mix of stealth and puzzle solving, with great characterization between the two main characters. I don't want to give too much away plot-wise, but it's certainly one of the most enjoyable games I've played so far this year - and I say this as someone who isn't a great fan of stealth-based games. The only slight complaint I had was when I was introduced to the game's crafting system, but only because I roll my eyes whenever *any* game these days introduces me to a crafting system. Other than that I can't fault it, especially the interactions between Amicia (the player) and Hugo (her younger brother).

Total War Three Kingdoms, other than the bad suicidal AI.
From what I've seen, TW:3K is gearing up to be one of the shittest TW titles in recent memories... and this is the company that shat out Thrones of Britannia last. Now, I'm a TW fan, got a shit-ton of hours in Rome, Med2, Napoleon etc. and am upset I can't play WH2 for shit hardware reasons, but 3K is looking like a bad Shogun II in China with only one saving grace (a 240 man max unit size). I sincerely want 3K to be good, not great, just good, but lets not kid ourselves, CA haven't made anything approaching 'masterpiece' since Shogun II and some would argue since Medieval II.

I've pretty much spoiled the game for myself by watching playthroughs, but still want to get it (won't be able to for a while for the time being but w/e). Based on what I've seen, yeah, the crafting is probably the only thing that can be justifiably criticised, IMO. Story, dialogue, character development are all excellent (would you believe the entire cast outside of the adult characters are performed by first time major part voice actors?) and, of course this depends on the player, it toes the line of horror really well.

You are right - it does very much depend on the player as to whether the game constitutes 'horror' or not. I would be one of those to say 'no', at least at the moment. The plague rats I have encountered so far are more a force than a creature, they will attack you in the dark but they will not attack you in the light, making them a manageable threat. This is opposed to, say, the xenomorph in Alien Isolation that is capable of hunting you no matter what you do. That having been said I'm only a few hours in and perhaps there are things I simply haven't encountered yet.

I definitely feel it's less about what the rats can do and more about the reaction that the rats and what you see them do evoke in the player, and for that, the game executes it perfectly IMO.
