Lawful Good.

I've realized recently that, in most RPGs, I'm always the Paladin. Not only because they're usually overpowered, but because the sheer concept of them is awesome.

I mean, if we go by the Warcraft Version, when I play a paladin, I'm essentially playing Thor. Except I'm decked out in heavy armor that makes me a walking tank and I can heal. Honestly, smiting evil doers with a hammer and bringing the ever-loving WRATH OF THE GODS down on their heads is just beyond awesome.

Plus, we usually get the coolest armors.

If I saw that guy on the other side of the battlefield, I would run in terror.
I'd strap a living baby (or two) to my shield and beg your mage companion to fireball me. Then it's go time!

This is NOT a fight you want to lose, because if I win, it isn't just this incarnation of your life that will end in suffering...
You seem to be forgetting one thing about us "Lawful Good" types...

Very aware of this fact thank you.

Three reasons.

Firstly, you might be Exalted which means you can't make an action that could cause harm to an innocent. Straight up from the rules. It's not common, but it's extraordinarily dangerous to fight someone like that because they basically are Paladins with insanely powerful extra feats.

Secondly, you might flinch or hesitate for even the briefest moment, and even if that doesn't translate into a modifier to a d20 dice roll, I'd do it anyway for the story element.

Thirdly, I want to see the look on your face as you smell the roasted baby, or get the blood in your eyes after I deflect your sword with my shield. That look is worth it I tell you!

Thats the great thing about paladins in stories, you can put them in(Slightly less ridiculous) scenarios like this. The villain trying to twist things so the noble paladin feels the blame for the villains own evil acts is a classic thing.

Then the paladin ends up caving their face in with his mace.

...other way round in our stories :)

It all depends on who the protagonist is. Suffice to say for us, no nancy boy heroes win. Incidentally we don't often have black and white characters anyway, the great 'divine' goodness in our current campaign is a throwback to the Christian God called upon by the crusaders - let's just say, not a good God at all if you happen to be anything but human (racist, xenophobic and genocidal to non-humans, but goes by the symbol of the Sun and masquerades as benevolent).

Chaotic evil- like to take all the treasure, I get all the best items from all the corpses of innocent and nobody messes with me. You also get the fastest experience points since you are slaying a lot of police/lawbringers ect.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL. I buy all of the colours I can and then trade so I can have a long line of Hotels in a row to make everyone else dread rolling the dice. And then I horde all of the money in neat little piles so everyone can see how evil I am being.

Being the Shoe in Monopoly kicks ass.

Lawful Evil or Chaotic Neutral. Nothin' is mo' satisfyin' than either turning peoples own rules against them for personal gain than Lawful Evil. As far as trolling the GM goes, Chaotic Neutral justifies all my actions ever no matter what.

heheh, you had better hope that Paladin decides to not turn into a powder keg of justice!

Somewhere between Lawful and neutral evil. It feels good to use others' rules to manipulate and sway the game. Makes you feel just as important as the dungeon master, twice as awesome when it all comes together, and just generally smart. I like to play the characters almost as much as the game itself.

Depends on the DM. There are roughly six people who regularly take the DM hat in my gaming circle, and the only thing they agree on is that my characters aren't good, and if they're neutral they're real close to evil.

For the record, most of the characters I play are great people to be friends with, okay people if you're a stranger, and may several Gods help you if you make an enemy of them.

Alignment-ignoring Selfish.

I always found it silly to pigeonhole characters into 9 alignments and then blow a casket and punish a player for not slavishly following the alignment to a letter. Real people do not work like this at all.

I play LG Palidans and CG Sorcerers, but since my group rarely gets very far in campaigns I tend to play quite the number of classes, usually CG though. I really don't like playing non-good. Too easy in my opinion.

Chaotic Neutral, I hate taking the 'good' and 'evil' sides but I like having fun with chaos. Nothing like having a spell that fires chameleons in suits at people.

I tried Chaotic evil in Baldurs gate, I got so evil I was swarmed by about 40 rangers before I finally fell.

So I usually just play as Chaotic Neutral because I do like playing with fire sometimes..... :3

Chaotic Evil. Because if I don't do it, someone without an ounce of creativity might, and the only thing worse than Chaotic Stupid is Lawful Stupid. At least if I'm Chaotic Evil, if a Chaotic Stupid gets rolled, I can take care of them when it's no longer amusing. It's amazing what one can accomplish when you're built for subversion and coercion. I once convinced an entire village and my party that it was the Fighter Gnome that torched that orphanage. Poor little guy...

I usually go for True Neutral or Neutral Good (usually Unaligned in 4e), on account that most groups/DMs generally play nice guys (or rather, not bad) and I'm not into long D&D campaigns, so I just go with it.

However, my favourite alignment is Lawful Evil. Cold hearted and efficient. Also, it's awesome to promise somebody not to harm them and order your underlings to do it. You kept your promise after all.
