Kanon, all my friends have been telling me how good it is, and so I finally caved and started watching it. Pretty good so far, I'm only on episode 3 right now.
Yeah, get ready for some sad shit at around episode 9 and beyond. No breaks in between either. Sad crap after sad crap after sad crap. Don't expect people to not die either.
They neglected to tell me that, huh.

I would imagine I should probably have a "happy" anime lined up after that, or less depressing.
I'm just saying; the happy episodes aren't going to last. It's not exactly full-out depressing, but it's mostly interesting which keeps you watching. If you like this, try Clannad if you haven't. It has the same kind of sad stuff, but it has a LOT of comic relief and comes with some breather episodes. Just watch out for season 2, that's when things get sad-as-fuck.

Ah gotcha. I've heard some things about Clannad, but never got around to watching it. I think I will give it a try, always looking for new anime to check out.

Yah. Might want to watch one at a time though. Clannad was also made by Key, the same that made Kanon by the way.

Oh, and are you watching the 2002 or 2006 version? The 2006 version is animated better and slightly changed, it's modified slightly, for the better.

I believe the 2006 version, how did they change it? Was it changed for story reasons?

I believe the animation and whatnot was pretty bad, and they changed the episodes slightly. Looking at pictures, it looks, to be frank, crappy compared to the 2006 version. :p

I just finished Monster. Alright series. The ending felt like a bit of a cop-out.
Right now I'm looking for something new to get into. Nothing found quite yet.

I'm watching Midori no Hibi (Midori Days) which is one of the cutest shows ever, after I finished watching Evangelion along with the movies... I got severe mood whiplash from that change.

Right now just the series we're going through in my anime club: High School of the Dead, Eden of the East, and My Bride is a Mermaid. A good (and varied) lineup, really.

I'm currently watching Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. I'm nearing the end of season 2 (Kai), and then it's on to the OVAs (Rei)! I'll probably start Umineko after that, or one of the anime on my "To watch" or "To finish" lists. I've seen the first few episodes of many anime, but hardly ever sit through the whole series like I have with Higurashi.

I generally spend my spare time reading or playing games - not watching things - but lately I've been watching Azumanga Daioh, and I find that it's worth my time.

I'll go all out and recommend Shiki. It has a very similar approach to morals, and is competent as far as anime horror goes. It's far from perfect, but it left an impression on me.

I won't try to dissuade you from Umineko, but it had a lot of good ideas that were poorly implemented. Just warning you ahead of time that it gets very convoluted very fast, for no adequately explained reason.

OT: Since I finished ef, I've started Berserk to fill in the obligatory third concurrent anime slot.
