I am the same. I started replaying it like a month or 2 ago, right now its on the back burner because of Elden Ring. Although I am playing on commander. Did you get the chosen dlc?
Yeah, I've got all of the DLC for the game.

I do enjoy the wealth of extra content that WotC provides, but to be honest, it is pretty much a necessity for most of the game's mods.

And the mods for this game are excellent! As a massive Halo nut, I've spent many an hour making my soldiers look like Spartans or ODSTs from that game, but right now, I have mostly just gone for a mostly vanilla experience, but with a couple of extra tiers of weapons ported over from the Long War mod, and some extra customisation options.

I should really mess around with the mods at some point. Right now I'm pretty much playing vanilla, but with the DLC on. So far I've taken down all the chosen and I have a really powerful team, so I just need to get the final steps done and I can beat the game. Kinda temping to play though Chimera squad again after since I did really like that one.

The mods are definitely worth getting into, even just for the quality of life improvements like Cost Based Ability Colors, Evac All - WotC, and Stop Wasting My Time - WotC

I would also recommend Capnbubs Accessories - WotC just for some nice bonus vanilla-themed cosmetics.

Season 2 of The Last Door

I'm enjoying it but liked it a bit more when it was more grounded in the reality of the situation instead of dream logic (so the first couple of episodes of season 1). Past a certain point it feels less like you're doing any investigation and more like you're just activating a series of flags in a bunch of loosely interconnected, surreal scenarios.

Still playing mostly blind through ER. I kinda gave up looking at any tips beyond explanations of game mechanics. The rotten stray ashes were a good find, but then I spent a night trying to find a really good rune farming spot I’d seen on Reddit only to discover it wasn’t accessible until you start a quest that requires beating some other boss I’m not ready for yet. It felt kinda exhausting and distracting from my usual distractions of just roaming around from place to place to see what I find. I do like looking up weapons ahead of time to get an idea of what I’d like to try though. Looks like there’s a decent selection of flails and one that will eventually suit my magidex build pretty well.

Last night was about taking a preliminary tour of Weeping Peninsula after hitting a dead end across the bridge from Stormveil. It kicked off with a rather fun fight against an Erd Tree, who packed a wallop but didn’t seem to enjoy my rotten stray ashes or bleed infused sword. I like the atmosphere most out of the places I’ve been so far. It’s especially pleasing after spending a few nights in Caelid, but then again what place wouldn’t be. Really though, something about the fog enshrouded forest and coastline sets my mind at ease. Seeing the pandora’s bell turtle (my personal nickname since yeah it reminds me of Cronos from GoW, oh well) stomping around in the distance, and that bat creature’s singing…bellisimo.

Longwar is really good, although it change so much its hard to call it a mod. It is trough, like the name imply, really long (never actually finished it).

Considering I ended up having to restart the campaign since I accidently had the alien hunters turned on and they started showing up really early and would just fuck me, I was fine just doing my first full play through vanilla.

Holy f'n s**t. I mean.. dear god, what a shit boss in Demon's Soul. Absolute crap.

It's two gargoyles on a tiny bridge. That alone isn't the problem, it's that it's both dark and the damn things fly around which bring both of Souls' true bosses to their cheapest most bullshit form- camera and gravity.
I just literally cannot see where the enemies are coming from. What absolute garbage.

(Yes I read and watched the tips about using the brazier in the middle and kiting them and all that, and it keeps me alive for a while but it still doesn't prevent the gargoyles from screwing off a mile away and then reappearing randomly behind me)

Still playing the Talos Principle. I'm halfway through area B and I'm finding it pretty difficult. Not the puzzles, those haven't been very tough at all. No, the game consistently gives me a headache every time I play it. I don't really understand, I've never had a problem with motion sickness in any other game. It's not even like it's VR or anything. Guess I don't play many games with mouse camera controls, I don't know, maybe that's it. The story is giving me massive The Witness vibes. I don't know what it is about developers of puzzle games that makes them want to write these god awful pretentious stories.

You're not the only one. A friend of mine who got the game complained of that, and even I was feeling a weird mental strain while playing. It might be an artifact of the Serious Engine.

They changed the way they worked in longwar 2 so that they don't always get a free turn when you attack them, they might also have changed the way they spawn (when I played I would only encounter them guarding base rather than on random mission, but that might just have been luck).

Demon's Souls continued and I have found the original Blighttown!
Dear god, it's just a huge puddle of poison goop I can't walk in. Googling reveals that the ring that would let me move normally is only available in dark world tendency which I'm explicitly avoiding. Ugh.
I know when Elden Ring came out people were joking about Miyazaki's obsession with poison areas and it's a trip to see the OG poison world. It sucks, lol.

You don't need the ring, you can navigate it pretty easily by just going from island to island... also I usually leave world 5 till the last so that I can easily deal with anything there.

That place literally made me avoid the game for a long, long time for various reasons lol. Finally got back to it and ended up loving the atmosphere in a twisted sort of way. It just initially felt like the difficulty curve and design of it was very unsettling until I learned the game more.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

It's Castlevania with big tiddy anime girls and big tiddy monster girls. Which is to say anime. Everyone's handsome, infuriatingly vague, dressed like they're cosplaying as themselves and the women are stacked with concussion-grade whoppers with the power to knock you in and out of Jumanji with a single mighty swing.

Wait until you get to the Curse Of The Moon sub series/spin-off games. Both of those games are classic Castlevania. Mainly Castlevania III.

GotG, Galaxy of the Guardians.
Uh oh, these people are talkers. Talkers for days. Chatting shit where there's shit to be chat. And even when there's not. Sadly no chance for catching up on podcasts with this rabbiting bunch at all...it's like being caught in drunken family meals along with the growing spectre of second-hand mental exhaustion affecting the ability to focus. Though at least in GotG's case, there's less qanon/great-reset/moaning about "foreigners" to deal with, so at least there's that. Am nonetheless concerned it may legit get annoying some point maybe soon.

Oh yeah, haven't even got the combat gameplay part yet, just thought it was such a pointed juxtaposition coming from Elden Ring I had to air these insignificant half-grumbles upon others before the game wiggles itself into the acceptance part of my brain like the rabbling noodly parasite it most likely is. Consider this the last data entry of a barely sane mind: I state for the court that I do not willingly love non-stop talkers and would never attempt praise of them consensually. Plz investigate further if this appears to change. Ta!

(also is nice to not have to deal with live-service bullshit in modern big budget superhero game)

Considering their basing their personalities off the MCU versions, it's a given. That's kind of always been a problem with the MCU continuity. They quip and joke too much at times. Even Dante would tell them to knock it off or can it on the quips and sarcasm.

Was that a dig at Far Cry 5? Please tell me that was a dick at Far Cry 5

True, that buffy Whedon guy has a lot to answer for, lol.
Ah, no dig at far cry - minimal chance of Ubisoft prodding towards that kind of political concern unfortunately - is merely dig at being caught in obligated drunken family meals nowadays 😉

No I'm gonna get the ring!
I already ate up all my noble flowers trying to do it normal.
I wanna platinum. That means I need all the rings anyway, I think. So I'm gonna start screwing with the world tendencies, following guides to get weird artifacts and whatever. I know I won't get everything but there is NG+ for whatever I miss.
Running "errands" in a game like this while listening to tunes between chores will be the perfect weekend in a rainy New England leisure activity.
