Mass Effect 1. Because when you reach the end of a 30 hour game and feel so properly upset that you can't play anymore, and the only way to cure the unhappiness is to start a fourth play through, you know you've found a damn good game. So when at the end of the fourth I automatically started a fifth... well, yeah...

My first vote goes to Chrono Trigger. Played it through three times a long time ago. It's just that good. FF6 is also quite high up there.

Out of competitive games, Heroes of Newerth is pretty damn solid. The gameplay is intuitive and as a whole I can hardly think of another game that has this much depth. The community is rubbish however which reduces the gaming experience to a point where picking it up can be next to impossible.

WoW has to get an honorable mention as the game that I've put most hours into. It has a ton of flaws but as an MMO it is as polished as they can get. Can't really think of other games that I've gotten that much enjoyment out from.

Jade Empire

Mass Effect 2, Halo Combat Evolved, ESPN NFL 2k5, and FFX come close. But Jade Empire is the only game I feel has earned a 10.

Portal, Shadow of Colossus, and Pokemon Silver are my 9/10s, basically because there is no "perfect game".

My little list:

The Orange Box - Honestly hard for me to deduct points for a set that cost me a fiver a game for five superb games, except for Episode 1's shortness.

Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3 - The first one was one of my first 15 rated games, and the third was just amazing.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - The first game for its campaign, the second game for multiplayer, since I seem to have none of the issues everyone else moans about.

Super Mario Bros 3 - Has to be one of the best ever platformers in my opinion.

There's definitely others, but my problem is I'm too easily impressed. xD

EDIT: Just slipping in Mass Effect 1 and 2, Borderlands, Heavy Rain and the God of War series

RDR (With all DLC)
Bioshock
Chrono Trigger
Portal

Uncharted 2 almost makes the cut, but I felt that the crazy linearity tainted an otherwise excellent game. it was more like a 9.7 to me.

Fallout 3 also game close, and would have made it hadn't had as many bugs as a compost heap.

I don't consider 10/10 a perfect game, simply the highest honor that can be immediately given to a game. In this category I personally find:
Resident Evil 4
Bioshock
Portal
Painkiller
Prototype

10 out of 10 doesn't mean it's perfect.
Huh?

100% does not mean it is perfect?

My head hurts... :(
Bussinrounds is right. A game can have a 10/10 even if it has flaws, as long as its other features make up for them.

No true 10/10 games, however the following would get extremely close to it in my mind:

Diablo 2
Resident Evil 4
Warcraft 3
Final Fantasy 6
Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle

I can't find a single flaw in the original Metroid Prime. There are other games I would consider 10/10 in terms of overall experience or value, like Shadow of the Colossus or Civilzation IV, but there's always a couple things I thought could have been better or wish they did differently. But for Metroid Prime I can't think of a single thing.

I'm currently playing Zelda Wind Waker and I think it deserves a 10/10 so far so unless something makes me change my mind that, also Portal, I can't find any faults with, no it wasn't too short because it just didn't feel too short as opposed to say Beyond Good & Evil where I finished it and thought, "Damn that game was way too short"

I'd have to say BioShock and Mass Effect 2. They pulled me in like no other games. I've lost count of how many playthroughs I have in Mass Effect 2. I could probably play that game forever.

There are two games i can think of that fall close to the mark; Portal and Space Rangers 2
portal was just generally awesome, had no major problems

Space rangers managed to make a game that encompassed elements of turn based strategy, RTS, shooter, arcade games and even text adventures, without incurring major problems. The only problem i can think of is the robot AI in RTS battles can be thoroughly retarded. Generally awesome, fun game. Go play it

I'd go for Mass Effect 2, Civilization 2 and maybe Quake.
I totally agree with this guy, nice to see a fellow who also loves Civ 2, so many hours lost to that game...anyway, don't think a 'perfect' game exists, games are somthing different to everyone, my favorite game is Morrowind, but i wouldn't say it was 10/10...
