What 'Class' Do You Naturally Tend To Play In Games?

By this I mean broad archetypes or specific styles/powerset that you inevitably gravitate towards in a game?

For me:
- Tanks in MMOs. I love the feeling of being the leader and having a massive ability to make other people's run easier.
- Finesse based dual wielding melee characters, or ranged if the latter is not available. Stealth is a bonus.
- Ice or cold powersets or casters. If the game has an ice based dual wielding finesse melee character...that will probably be me. Especially if it can tank!
- Support characters in MOBAs, since the 'tank' style is not always available.

How about you?

-In a majority of single-player games I tend to go for the shield and sword warrior. Skyrim, Dragon Age, and the like. I try to focus on DPS more than tankiness, but I also enjoy the extra defense a shield brings.
-In MMOs I'm almost always a DPS. I find that role to be the easiest, not only in raids but also soloing.
-In MOBAs I always support and I usually lean towards tanky supports. Like Thresh, Blitzcrank, and Braum. I love Braum.

I have been trying to mix it up lately. I've played as a Rogue and Mage in Dragon Age: Origins and 2. Had quite a bit of fun.

In no particular order of significance:
In MMOs I tend to play healers or support. In this case I mean support like an elemental shaman in WoW where I primarily deal magic DPS but can off-heal in a pinch. I cannot recall playing a game that straight up had a non-healer support character.
In card games like MTG or Hearthstone or Scrolls I tend to play control or tempo (aggro-control). I like drawing a game out and manipulating the board to my advantage. Unfortunately this more often than not results in a stomping in Hearthstone because traditional control is hard to pull off with the cards I have against the much quicker rush and aggro decks.
In single player fantasy RPGs I tend to play sneaky classes like rogues. Looting everything that isn't nailed down and stabbing things in the back is my jam. If I'm able to splash in some interesting utility or really strong damaging magic, that also works.
In shooters I tend to play as one of two things depending on my mood: a sniper when I'm feeling a little slow and/or the map permits it or just go as fast as possible with an SMG or whatever.

Favor tank and healers by far because I like to take hits for my team mates and I like to keep them alive.
I do like having CC as well to further keep enemies off my allies.

To give an example I play a defensive oriented Allistar in LoL and delight in headbutting away those who get too close.

Otherwise I roll shield and sword all the way in mmos and fantasy games for style purposes when appropriate.

By contrast the roles of jungler, rogue and assassin tend to be a very poor fit for me and I don't really have the right mentality for those playstyles.

I really like spreading chaos, tanking, and dealing raw damage, so I always go for the heaviest, meanest motherfuckers, with biggest weapons available - two hander-wielding knights/fighters in fantasy games, and heavy machineguns, explosives, and bazookas in other ones.

Rouge or mage tends to be my designated class of choice. If I'm not stabbing you in the back I'm setting you on fire. If either of those aren't an option just roundabout warrior, can do tanking or dps but not specializing in either. I can sometimes get into ranged support but that's about it.

For roleplaying games, I always wind up playing a good-guy paladin type on a first playthrough. As far as play styles, either a brute force, high health and regen tank warrior in fantasy type games (it keeps me from dying long enough to get a grasp on the mechanics), or a sneaky, headshot happy rifleman/ james bond type for games with guns. I don't really do MMOs.

Paladins/clerics/crusaders. I don't care if they are the worst class in a game or way OP. They are by far my favorite class to play, combining tanky plate classes with spell casters.

Failing that I tend to like high crowd control classes.

Mage or Rogue.

I like to blast things to pieces with magic, or pull off sneak attacks and tip fights in my favor (or even end them) before the enemy knows what hit them.

So imagine how pleased I was with the Siren from Borderlands 1. Tons of elemental damage? Nice. Ability to turn invisible and then do a massive explosion sneak attack? EVEN MORE NICE!

It kinda depends.

I like being able to do a little bit of everything, so if the option exists, I'll play a magic knight type character; someone who can swing a sword or throw a fireball as the situation requires. This is why my main in World of Warcraft is a paladin. It's not exactly fireballs, but it's close enough. I can also heal myself in an emergency.

If not, I tend to default to a mage, preferably one with an array of healing and offensive magic. A red mage, if you will, able to toss fireballs most of the time and a heal in a pinch.

Varies depending on the game, but I find my "priority/favorites list" tends to go something like this:

1. Summoner Classes/Minion Masters (Necromancers, Hunters)
2. Deployable-based Classes (Engineers)
3. Support Classes
4. The Big Guys (Warriors, Heavy Weapons Users)

A Shaman would probably fit that bill better, they're not quite as melee-focused (unless you go Enchantment), but you get to toss around Lightning Bolts and Fire and whatnot.

I have a strange affinity for playing support characters in anything other than Titan Quest style games. Even in stuff like Dota 2 I don't feel like anything other than support, which is especially fun because I hate everyone on my team by default in that game.

I tend to go for high DPS glass canon builds that are all about quickness and efficiency.

Don't need armor if you're not going to get hit, don't need health upgrades if you're not going to get hit, all you need is DAMAGE. Kill everything in one hit like a boss.

Rogue or thief.

Anything stealthy really since I have fun with those classes.

I like being all sneaky and stabby while looking for things to steal that isn't nailed down. :D

My favorite are Intelligence/Finesse-based fighters. I fondly remember my double-rapier weapon master from NWN: Hordes of the Underdark. He dealt so much damage so quickly the game became almost trivial.

Second place goes to "Sniper-like" characters. It doesn't have to be a sniper, only work like one. Skyrim's stealth bowmen fall into this category. There's something almost mythological in killing things from a mile away.

If neither are available, I'll stick to my Paladin/Sword and Board Warrior/Tank. I have a thing for knights in shining armor.

I can honestly say there is no class i take everytime. I do lean more towards high defense characters, but every once in a while i'll fuck all that and play a glass cannon.

Sneaky thief in oblivion, twohanded nord in skyrim, every healing class in wow, a paladin tank in wow, scout in TF2, sniper in Tom clancy's ghost recon phantoms, i played dishonored without sneaking and finally a revolverslinging titan in destiny.

I do notice that i'll more often go for single shot, heavy calibre weapons in most shooters, favouring accuracy and stopping power over spread and shots/minute. Most of the pro players' videos i have seen are like watching an accupuncture session. Single, accurate shots placed calmly and deliberately, while carefully placing themselves in optimal positions.
That's how i try to play.

Wizard, Hunter, or any glass cannon build. I mean, high damage and range? whats not to like.

Usually a melee fighter of some sort for Single Player action games, though I've been varying that up a bit recently. For games with a greater dialogue focus I tend very strongly towards what would be called a "Face" in Shadowrun, a character who can defuse situations or get his/her enemies to focus on each other instead of him/her.

In MMORPGs I tend to play healers. Originally I played caster DPS but I filled in for a healer one time, ended up out-performing the guy I was covering for, and from that point onward I was pretty much always requested to play a healer.

When I'm playing solo I still tend to prefer ranged characters. I'm not too picky about whether it's a caster or gun/archer type, I'll play whichever looks more interesting.

I tend to lean towards mage and mage-like classes, particularly if crowd control is an option with at least one of them. I also enjoy playing agility and/or stealth characters, especially when the melee combat is a little more developed (e.g. Dark Souls).
