currently I'd have to go with :

Europe (mostly UK) and Japan : their music are timeless, innovative, listening ones from the 90's still sounds awesome!

and worst..America : mostly all pop which sells on sing-a-longs, good looks, and same music. and the 'hip-hop' and RnB are now just spouting on how gangsta or how rich they are, with fail grammars.

no trolling, just my two cents.

if i get to pick the best PERIOD of music, the 90's. where most artists are still 'musicians' instead of 'rock/popstars' like today.
You dont know shit about music, you sounds compleatly uncultured.

Every decade and country has its fair share of shit and awesome bands.

Personally i prefer USA for metal music and UK for its prog rock, but i love stuff from sweden too, but outside of Europe and the USA i dont listen to much.
woohoo, chill dude. seems i struck a nerve there.

i think i pissed u off at the America part, i said 'mostly', as in mainstream ones. not all of em are bad. i listen to Black Keys, Mars Volta (huge fan), ATDI, Marylin Manson, Immortal Technique (he's latino tho), Eminem, and tons more! what saddens me is that most of these quality bands/artists arent getting as much recognition as the mainstream ones.

and cmon 'You dont know shit about music, you sounds compleatly uncultured'; but then you said 'but outside of Europe and the USA i dont listen to much', thats pretty shallow.

i've been living with music for 20+ years, and been listening music from every inch of the globe. so there you go. and chill out dude ^^
At least he's not going on about omniscient he is when it comes to music.

Fuck, I said the same shit when I was 16. Come on now.

Ignorance is very annoying

i think i pissed u off at the America part, i said 'mostly', as in mainstream ones. not all of em are bad. i listen to Black Keys, Mars Volta (huge fan), ATDI, Marylin Manson, Immortal Technique (he's latino tho), Eminem, and tons more! what saddens me is that most of these quality bands/artists arent getting as much recognition as the mainstream ones.
Eminem,Marylin Manson and Mars Volta have plenty of exposure. Some artists dont want it, others cant be digested by a large crowd. Yep, that is sad.

and cmon 'You dont know shit about music, you sounds compleatly uncultured'; but then you said 'but outside of Europe and the USA i dont listen to much', thats pretty shallow.
Im not knowledgeable of music outside the western world, dont know where the shallow part comes in, but i dont make any clueless statements, its not that the rest of the world is bad or anything, its just that i dont really know much.

But what i do know is that no decade or country is inferior or superior to any other decade or country in terms of music. Which is why statements like "Olden days music was best" piss me off.

i've been living with music for 20+ years, and been listening music from every inch of the globe. so there you go. and chill out dude ^^
If your such a fan of music you wouldnt be saying so much BS in your first post. :/
sorry for intruding, but i checked out your profile and found out were born in a different musical era.
hence the different taste and preferences in our views and knowledge of music, which you just seem unable to accept peoples opinion.
so i am going to ignore you because replying to you would be a waste of time :)
have a nice day ^^

"Has", as in now? I don't know. I'm not really much of a fan of new music.

Historically, it's all about the UK and the US. It's not really possible to pick a winner based on quality, but the UK certainly had the greater quantity of great musicians.

All countries.

But, I will say Germany because Krautrock and crazy German free jazz is absent from this thread.

well, considering the UK has created a whole lot of new, and exciting genre's in the past couple of years, while the US has been in downfall since the late 90s when grunge, and old skool hip hop died out, which then paved the way for the shitty pop music we have today.

I mean, Dubstep, Metal, and Drum and bass, you can't get any cooler than that.

The UK wins by default.

I might add BellX1, The Frames as well Miracle of Sound to that :p

.
Fun fact... I did a gig in Cork with Bell X1 in my old band. Nice lads!

Also met Hansard and Frames a few times, but so did everyone in the country.
haha! Yeah.. they do get around...

I am so starstruck right now... :D

There's so many out there that don't get as much exposure as they should (something you're probably all too familiar with) but I have to shout out to my fave local band Fred.
It's half because of their awesome music, half because of the sense of humour they have.

Yeah I'm afraid it's hands down to Blighty. I say that not because I'm British, I have general apathy towards my nationality, but just because a good 90% of the music I love wouldn't exist if it weren't for that whole British Invasion/ rock n' roll thing they had going some 40 years ago.

Erm none?

Every country has brilliant musicians and one can't place another above or below.

I think we can pretty much agree that France brings nothing to the table when it comes to music. For me its probably the UK, that said i am in the middle of what could end up being a ZZ top marathon.

Britain. All my favorites come out of the UK. I'm American, and like a few American bands, but scrolling through my iTunes library naming off the countries, 90% of it's from the UK. I like Coldplay, Keane, Thirteen Senses, that sort of stuff, which probably has something to do with it. There isn't a lot of good stuff in that genre coming out of the US.
