America has no flaws.
It is the perfect place, full of freedom and awesomeness.
If you disagree with me, you are clearly un-American and are most likely a socialist, commie bastard.
If you want to question my intelligence, understand satire before doing so.
No offense dude, but that joke doesn't work, THIS many times. I think you should let it go. If you love it, set it free, right? :)
And Thank God, you left out that "Fuck yeah, America" Video this time. That was fucking annoying :S
OT: What do i hate about my country? Do Escapist comments have word limits? I guess I'll find out!
Actually let me give you the skinny: No pre-marital Sex....

...and that's not even the worst.

It's that bad
Where do you live???
Oh shit, sorry i left that out. Bangladesh.
I don't like declaring that much, because A) i hate this place and B) I'm of the pro-internet-anonimity side.

Our current government, who seem to think selling off government property is a great way to fund tax breaks long-term. Oh, and this new thing where you are forced to work for (I think) 74% of the salary the position usually pays even though you are not employed just there temporarily (temporarily as in "until you die"), paid by the government who also pays the company for giving you the pleasure of working there. The employer does not need to offer you a job, and if you quit, you get no financial support whatsoever. Basically, you work for below minimum wage without any benefits from employment, while the employer gets paid for having you and they know you are unable to leave until you find another job. This is to stimulate employment, because obviously companies will want to no longer have an employee they do not pay and in fact get paid for having on staff.

The way we are going around with the 2012 Olympics. It seems like we're doing whatever we can to not be taken serious with this. The reasons I think this?
1. Not having the red arrows because it is 'too British'/'a show of military might' even though other places have done worse
2. Putting the stadium in one of the worst areas in London.
3. That god awful logo that looks like Lisa Simpson punching Bart in the nuts.
4. The government saying that we are not going to try our hardest with the opening ceremony.
5. There has been nobody openly complaining about this shit outside the areas where anyone is allowed to smoke any more. (disclaimer, I am a non-smoker. I just seem to hang around with people who smoke)

Kiwi born Aussie here, but i've lived in Australia most of my life so this is the country I know, although I still don't really consider myself an Australian, at least not exclusively. I still hold a NZ passport and NZ citizenship. Most of this stems from the fact that you can live perfectly well in Australia as a NZ citizen with a NZ passport, but a little of it also stems from the things I don't like about this country. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to love, and although I may not be a proud, flag-waving Australian, I am a powerfully proud Melbournian and will love this city till the day I die, but the things I dislike about Australia are everywhere, even in my beloved Melbourne. The first and most obvious is the racism. I know many countries have problems with racism, but at least in places like the U.S. or the U.K. it's seen as something a bit more abnormal. Groups like the KKK or the BNP are demonised for their ultra-prejudiced views, however, in Australia there is no real, over-the-top racist group to associate these people with, and the side-effect of that is that racism becomes more engrained. This is not helped by our history. The White Australia policy is one of the most grossly unjust actions made by a colonial white government, and has tainted our current generations. The effect of this is that racism is considered much more normal in Australian culture, and it may still be only a small percentage of the population who are truly racist, but this group is less organised, and therefore, can integrate themselves into the mainstream persona more easily, resulting in a culture where there is a sickeningly high incidence of racial slurs and shouts of "Go back where ya came from!" among widespread society.

The other main thing I dislike about Australia is the truly idiotic, reactionary attitude of the government, and society as a whole, and I know, for a fact, that New Zealand, at least, does in fact do this better. Whenever a problem comes along, or some kind of hot-bed issue, everyone in government whether they be the right-wing, left-wing, center or whatever, all seem to go for the quickest knee-jerk reaction. And everyone seems to think that more technology=better. No one even stops to think that maybe putting human conductors or guards back onto trams would stop fare evasion, no instead, let's think up an even more expensive and complicated electronic system using the very latest in modern technology, because it's new and modern.

Having said all this, there really is a lot to like about living here, and I genuinely am working on that citizenship application. Australia is a great nation, but it is by no means the best in the world, not by a long shot, but the good thing is, most of the problems are probably not that hard to fix if we simply put more emphasis onto educating people in the right way to do things, instead of passing around stupid political correctness pamphlets that only work to further alienate people. Also I reserve the right as a properly patriotic person to punch in the face any flag-wearing, VB-swilling bogan who gives Aussie patriotism a bad name.

Nothing really.

It's alright.

Suppose it sucks that the conservatives are in power, but it could be worse.

Pretty much this.

The only other thing i hate about the uk is the weather but that is a petty annoyance comparied to what people in war zones have to go though.

The UK is quite excepting of other cultures when it wants to be.
yeah England is pretty great...

OT: um a bad thing. we are too awesome for the rest of the world?

Everyone here's a complete asshole...
Bit of a over the top stereotyping there, I'd say from my travels that our quota of assholes is pretty similar to the rest of the Western world.

The thing that leaps to mind about New Zealand is our monopoly controlled ass of an internet service. I'm amazed to see Canadians worried about their data limits being reduced, you guys don't know how good you have it! The standard connection package here is $50 for 10GB! I'm on a 5GB cap! We only have one cable across to the US, and its old and overloaded, until someone invests another billion dollars its unlikely to improve.

I live in South Africa. Your countries are where people from here emigrate to. To get away from our problems. Except for that Bangladeshi.

...I personally think that...the richest people in the US should pay more taxes since they have the extra money.
um, you realize they do, right? thats already the case.
Uh, no they don't and no it's not.

While they may be handing over more dollars, percentage wise they are paying less.

What we need is a flat tax rate.

Canada.

Nobody here will ever admit it, but Canada wants to be America so bad it hurts. The best analogy I can think of is that the US is like the cool older brother that you always tried to emulate, even though everything he did was stupid.

Our politics are a joke, but that doesn't stop people barking around about Canadian politics because they see Americans bitching about their government and want in on the fun.
