What does SOCOM stand for?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the SOCOM sounds a lot better than SOC.

Military uses COM as short for Command in every acronym. Not every abbreviation is a single letter per word.

You might have something like 2MARDIV, which stands for 2nd MARines DIVision.

So it is indeed Special Operations COMmand.

In fact, SOCOM stands for SOuthern COMmand, and the video game takes the already militarized term and puts a different meaning. Ive asked Vets this and the answer is always Southern Command.

No, SOCOM is actually an abbreviation of USSOCOM United States Special Operations COMmand.
